#SHOWBIZ: HK actor Joel Chan spotted at KL nightclub after filming in Malaysia
HONG KONG: Actor Joel Chan recently made the most of his time in Malaysia while there for work.
Local Chinese media outlets reported that the 48-year-old was spotted at a buzzing Kuala Lumpur nightclub, where he turned heads in a stylish, short-sleeved leopard print shirt.
A video clip shared on Xiaohongshu (Red Note) showed Chan happily dancing to "Red Sun," a classic song by renowned Hong Kong singer Hacken Lee.
In an interview with Hong Kong media, the TVB star revealed he'd gone to the nightclub with his crew to celebrate wrapping up filming in Malaysia.
"The entire team – including directors, crew members, and some Malaysian investors – went out for a meal," he explained.
"They then suggested visiting a well-known nightclub, mentioning that it plays classic hits from the 1980s."
Besides the nightclub, Chan was also seen enjoying a meal at a local eatery during his visit.
Chan, who began his career as a singer in 1994 before moving into acting the following year, is a beloved figure among Hong Kong drama fans in Malaysia.
In 2017, he won the Favourite TVB Supporting Actor award at the TVB Star Awards Malaysia for his role in the crime thriller series The Unholy Alliance.
Chan has been married to Apple Ho since 2019, and they have one son.

"Ne Zha 2" premieres in Hungary as part of Chinese film week
BUDAPEST, June 6 (Xinhua) -- Chinese animated blockbuster "Ne Zha 2" premiered in the Hungarian capital of Budapest on Thursday night as part of the "Imazsia Chinese film week 2025." "I really enjoyed his development throughout the film." Orsolya Racz, a 24-year-old student of the Chinese language, highlighted the animation's appeal to audiences familiar with animated films. "The film was really great. I watch a lot of animated films myself, so I really loved the animation and the drawing style -- how they brought out the elements in the film and the fight scenes, that was all very impressive to me." Chris, a German engineering student currently based in Budapest, also praised the film, saying, "It was really, really interesting to see another culture." Sarawak Tian Association celebrates 75 years of cultural legacy, community service

The celebration was graced by Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian, who commended the association's longstanding contributions to cultural preservation and community welfare. 'This celebration embodies three joys, which are commemorating the 75th anniversary of the Tian Clan Association, showing our respect for the elderly, which is a cornerstone of Chinese culture, and rewarding our young ones for their pursuit of education,' he said in his speech. Reflecting on his upbringing, Dr Sim shared a personal story about how his father encouraged him to join the clan association at a young age. 'I used to ask, 'What is the association for?' and my father would say, 'If there's no food, the association provides food'. 'If there are no benefits, it provides benefits; and if you're out of work, the association will help you find a job. 'It's all for the welfare of our people,' he said. He emphasised the vital role clan associations have played in advocating for the welfare, values, and cultural heritage of the Chinese community, and their continued relevance in fostering unity through shared traditions. As part of the celebration, the association presented academic incentives to students from primary school through to university level. 'This is something new, we are not just rewarding schooling but encouraging the spirit of learning. 'In Sarawak, no one can say they can't study because of money. 'The real issue now is students not wanting to study. 'But education is essential as these students are our future, they will carry on our culture and help build a better Sarawak,' he said. Dr Sim also highlighted the importance of nurturing the younger generation beyond academics. 'It's not just about language, knowledge or culture. We must also instill values, Sarawakian values and wisdom,' he said, praising the formation of the Chinese Youth Tian Association.
