Gaming With the Nacon Revolution X Unlimited Xbox Controller

Geek Dad08-07-2025
If you're an Xbox gamer looking for a new controller, now's a great time to shop as your choices are plentiful. Back when I first started playing Overwatch, I realized that I needed a controller that offered more features than what you can find in the still-excellent standard Xbox controller. So I graduated to the Xbox Elite Series 2 controller, with its back paddles and customizable joysticks. And while I loved that controller, I'd find I'd burn through ones in about a year. And so the search for something similar, yet better, began.
Back in April, Nacon released the Revolution X Unlimited controller, a pro wireless controller designed specifically for Xbox and PC. They recently sent me a unit to test drive. What Is the Nacon Revolution X Unlimited?
The Revolution X Unlimited is an officially licensed, wireless controller for use with Xbox and PC. It comes with the following features: Instant Triggers: adjustable instant triggers with micro-switch components.

When you open the Revolution X Unlimited box, you're greeted by a Nacon-branded clamshell storage case. Opening it up, you'll find a number of goodies inside: Revolution X Unlimited controller

3m USB-C cable
USB dongle

It's very handy that everything fits inside, but that does make for a larger case than you'll find with most controllers.
Here are a few different views of the Revolution X Unlimited. As you can see, there are a lot of buttons and switches:

I won't bore you as to what each and every button and switch does on the controller- if you're interested, you can download the user manual to read at your leisure. Setting Up the Revolution X Unlimited Controller
To start with, I charged up the controller. You can either use the charging station, or connect the USB cable for fast charging. As I was setting the controller up for use with my Xbox, I plugged the charging station into one of the USB ports on my Series X and placed the controller on the cradle. To fully charge the controller takes about 7 hours. The red ring indicates the controller is charging. Image by Paul Benson.
Once the controller was charged, I then went to adjust profiles using the Revolution X Unlimited application. This app is available on both Windows and Xbox, and I downloaded it for both. As noted in the instructions, you must manually set the controller to wired and advanced modes in order to make changes via the app. Having already connected the charging station to the Xbox, this was a bit of an inconvenience as I had to now disconnect the station and plug the cable into the controller to make adjustments.
An interesting sidenote: to play wirelessly, you can either plug the USB dongle into a USB port, or slot it into the charging station itself, so that you don't have to take up more than one USB port to operate both the charger and the wireless dongle.
There are a total of 20 profiles that you can store on your controller, spread across Xbox, PC, and Bluetooth. These profiles are customizable in the app, and you have a pretty good amount of granularity when it comes to adjusting the controls and appearance of the Revolution X. Here's what you can adjust via the app:
• Create, optimize, download and share controller settings profiles with other expert players. • Easy update of your controller • Shooter pro mode : Joystick digital deadzone deactivation, increased joystick sensitivity option • Full mapping of all buttons and the 6 shortcut buttons • Presets and manual configuration of stick and trigger sensitivity • Inversion of left/right sticks • 4 or 8-way directional pad • Customizable right stick lighting • Audio menu to access equalizer settings based on game type • LCD Screen brightness, battery ECO Mode
• Vibration motors ON/OFF

‘Technical reasons' delay launch of Opus card app for commuters with iPhones

News Montreal commuters will be able to trade their Opus cards for an app this fall, the regional transit authority says — as long as they have an Android. iPhone users will have to wait until 2026. The virtual Opus card is the latest in a broader bid to modernize payment options for Montreal-area transit. In April 2024, the Autorité régionale de transport métropolitain (ARTM) launched an app allowing transit users to load their Opus card by tapping it to their phone. This latest project will allow riders to ditch the physical card for an app. After that, the agency plans to allow users to tap their credit or debit cards directly to the fare reader, a technology it has already deployed in Laval. Digital payment options have been slower to get off the ground in Montreal than elsewhere, admitted Sylvain Perras, ARTM executive director of digital transformation. 'We probably started later,' he said. 'We're now working on catching up.' Commuters in cities including Toronto, Vancouver and Ottawa can already board transit with a tap of a credit or debit card. Testing is underway for the virtual Opus card, Perras said. Fewer than 200 employees have been using the app in a trial since June, he said, and the agency invited 600 commuters to download the app Thursday. Android users will have access to the app sometime this fall, Perras said, without providing an exact date. 'It could be October, November.' The iPhone app has been slower to get off the ground, Perras said, citing 'technical reasons,' without offering specifics. About 61 per cent of Canadian smartphone users have an iPhone, while about 39 per cent use Android, according to web traffic analysis website StatCounter. Perras wouldn't provide a detailed timeline for the app's rollout, insisting he didn't want to make promises that might not be kept. But he said all commuters should be able to download virtual Opus cards at some point in 2026. New payment options should help improve ridership numbers, Perras said, adding some people avoid public transit when it seems too complicated. DRAM Demand Powers Micron Technology's Growth: Will the Momentum Last?

Micron Technology's MU Dynamic Access Random Memory (DRAM) revenues grew 51% year over year in the third quarter of fiscal 2025 to $7.1 billion. The DRAM segment, which accounted for a whopping 76% of the company's top line, is getting propelled by the traction in data center, automotive, PC and mobile end market growth. Micron Technology's DRAM segment is led by its products like low-power server DRAM and high bandwidth memory (HBM) chips, which are experiencing a massive surge in use cases in Artificial Intelligence (AI) workloads due to their higher capacity and low power consumption. Additionally, Micron Technology experienced a sequential surge of 50% in HBM revenues, which drove DRAM revenues to a record high in the third quarter of fiscal 2025. The company highlighted robust momentum in the automotive end market, where advanced driver assistance systems and AI-powered in-vehicle infotainment systems are pushing higher memory and storage content growth. In the mobile end market, Micron Technology is benefiting from the growing demand for AI features, which is driving higher DRAM content growth for smartphones. The company expects industry DRAM bit demand to grow in the high-teens percentage range in calendar 2025. Additionally, low inventory levels in distribution channels are expected to support pricing and margins going forward. This demonstrates that Micron's DRAM business is set to benefit from higher-value product shipments and tight supply in leading-edge nodes. The Zacks Consensus Estimate for fiscal 2025 DRAM revenues is pegged at $27.95 billion, indicating year-over-year growth of 58.8%. The consensus mark for fiscal 2025 signifies total revenues to grow 46.5% to $36.79 billion.
