Will Investing $150K into Tesla Stock (TSLA) Make You a Millionaire? Elon Musk Thinks So
Tesla (TSLA) CEO Elon Musk recently responded to a social media post suggesting that investing $150,000 in the EV maker's stock now would likely make someone a millionaire. The post featured a screenshot showing Tesla's stock performance since its 2010 IPO. Musk replied, 'I think this is probably correct,' which shows that he continues to be confident in the company's long-term potential. This optimistic outlook comes as Tesla bets big on autonomous driving and energy solutions, despite facing near-term challenges. Indeed, one of those challenges includes declining sales in certain regions. For example, Tesla's European deliveries dropped sharply in July, with sales in France and the UK falling by over 60%. At the same time, Elon Musk is set to receive more than 96 million Tesla shares, valued at over $29 billion, as part of his CEO compensation plan. While that's a massive sum, it's still below the original $56 billion package that was overturned by a Delaware judge in 2024. In addition, Tesla's Robotaxi plans have drawn criticism. In fact, analyst Gary Black from Future Fund LLC warned that Tesla won't be the only company to achieve unsupervised autonomous driving. Although Tesla has expanded its ride-hailing pilot in the San Francisco Bay Area, it still includes safety drivers, so it's not yet a true Robotaxi service. Meanwhile, Chinese EV rival BYD (BYDDF) is stepping up its game by launching its luxury brands Yangwang and Denza in Europe next year, which will increase the competitive pressure on Tesla. What Is the Prediction for Tesla Stock? Turning to Wall Street, analysts have a Hold consensus rating on TSLA stock based on 13 Buys, 15 Holds, and eight Sells assigned in the past three months, as indicated by the graphic below. Furthermore, the average TSLA price target of $305.37 per share implies 4.2% downside risk.

This 'potent combination' will continue to power Big Tech stocks
Big Tech stocks have driven a lot of the stock market's gains over the last few years. But Barclays head of US equity strategy Venu Krishna is still positive on the sector, saying there is a "potent combination" that will continue to drive tech stocks higher. Find out what it is in the video above. To watch more expert insights and analysis on the latest market action, check out more Market Domination Overtime. But I think the tech story is very, very interesting, and we've spent a lot of time thinking about it. Um, so, for example, the standard refrain and the concern of people that they're very expensive, right? So on an absolute basis, that is true. But if you look at the trend over the last two years, their multiples actually have been steadily declining, moderating. On the flip side, their earnings have remained quite strong. So they've moderated from extremely high levels. They were printing in the 60, in the 40s percentage growth, now to in the high 20s and 30s. So what's happening is they continue to grow into their multiples, and the street has been consistently underestimating their earnings power. That's why quarter after quarter, we have been a lot more positive on them. And I think since Q4 of 22, when they had bottomed, they were just recovering. That's when we went very positive on that. So that story is very intact and and what's even more interesting in that segment of the market is when people are pointing to this dichotomy between them laying off people and yet posting great numbers. And part of the reason is while the rest of the economy is waiting for AI's impact to be felt in a more tangible manner through either increases in productivity or how it affects margins or top line, um, big tech is already implementing it in their core businesses. In other words, what that tells us that if you are a tech native business or you're a tech-centric business, chances are you're already seeing the impact of that. And the reason is quite simple because one thing we know based on what companies have told us, which are very tech centric, that software productivity is improved 30 to 40%. So that is literally taking out layers of software costs out of a business. And if your business is centered around that, uh, it makes a huge difference, right? So, you know, you are right now in the middle of two mega trends. We were already in in a transition towards cloud. Right. On top of that, you have AI. So this potent combination is going to be with us for the foreseeable future, and it's happening faster than the previous cycles. Yes.
