Love Island's secret sex rules as bosses make jaw-dropping change
As we wait for the new series of Love Island to kick off tonight, the Mirror lifts the lid on the show's secret sex rules as bosses allow sex scenes to be aired for the first time this summer
ITV's Love Island has a string of secret sex rules, which the saucy singletons must follow. The new series of the smash-hit dating show, which kicks off tonight, is sure to be one of the steamiest yet after bosses revealed that sex scenes would be aired i n the Hideaway for the first time this summer.
The jaw-dropping move has divided viewers, with some saying they don't know want to see what pops up beneath the sheets under the Spanish sun. However, others, think the rule change is just what the new series needs as executive producer Mike Spencer said: "If sex happens, we'll show it. The Hideaway will be open 24 hours. We need to keep the show fresh and exciting."
So, as we wait for the new series to launch later when we'll finally be introduced to the class of 2025, here's all the sex rules the contestants must follow, including an outright ban on masturbating...

Outright ban on masturbating
Before going into the villa, all the Love Island contestants are prepped on what they can and can't do to ensure their strict sexual behaviour guidelines are met.
There is an outright ban on masturbating in the villas and despite most of the contestants wearing very little in the show, no one is allowed to get fully naked in front of the cameras as it's a 'public place'. This even applies in the shower.
Safety first
Safe sex is paramount and each contestant is offered an STI-test before entering the villa. Love Island star Marcel Somerville has said that in his experience, the bosses of the show made a big push for safe sex - adding that anyone going on the show must pass an STI test.
Marcel, who said he didn't have sex himself while he was in the villa, told The Mirror that the show does strict testing before people go in the villa, revealing that "quite a few" tests are done before people sign up for the show.
To make sure the contestants are practicing safe sex, ITV bosses provide their own brand of condoms which are readily available with up to 200 packets of the contraceptive aids put in the villa at the start of the series.
Former contestant, Kaz Crossley, managed to nab a bag of the branded condoms when she was dumped from the villa, sharing a snap of the loot with the caption: "Unpacking...tried to get my money's worth after being dumped, clearly."
Drunk sex is banned
Drunk sex – and getting drunk in general – is also banned in the Love Island villa as there is a two-drink limit per night for each Islander.
Although the Islanders are given booze during their evening parties, contestants are not allowed to get drunk with an explicit number of drinks given to each contestant.
After Andrea-Jane was dumped from the villa during the seventh series of the show, the blonde bombshell lifted the lid on the drinking rules inside the villa.
She told Capital FM: 'It is a two-drink limit. And usually, you get your first drink and then you have to wait around three hours until the second one."
Couples must see counsellor post-sex
Anyone who does have sex in the villa must see a counsellor afterwards and can gain access to the morning after pill if needed. The contestants are also offered therapy when the show ends, with Love Island OG Amy Hart, previously praising producers, telling the Mirror the show 'saved her' with its 'exceptional' level of aftercare.
A string of saucy singletons have had sex in the villa, including Jon Clark and Hannah Elizabeth, who 'christened' the villa when the show first aired in 2015 – with Jon declaring it was the 'best night of my life'.
Meanwhile, in series two, Olivia and Alex Bowen had sex up to 30 times while Malin Andersson and Terry Walsh couldn't keep their hands off each other - and even did the deed in front of their housemates.
The couple bizarrely decided to slide under their bed sheets in the middle of the day while in the middle of a conversation with the other islanders, but it was pretty obvious what they were up to.
After dumping Malin, Terry moved on with Emma Jane Woodham who he brazenly had sex with on top of the covers in front of everyone.
Speaking afterward in the Beach Hut, Emma admitted her dad wouldn't be impressed with her actions. She said: "Me and Terry had a bit of a kiss and a cuddle when we went upstairs last night. "My pops is very disapproving, so he won't like that very much."

Eduardo Arroyo's ‘Painted Biography' is the new exhibition in Cascais Cultural Centre
The Cascais Cultural Centre opens 'A Painted Biography' on Friday, June 6th – a dedicated exhibition celebrating Eduardo Arroyo, an unmissable figure in 20th-century Spanish art. Organised by the D. Luís I Foundation and Cascais City Council as part of the Bairro dos Museus programme, the show runs until September 7th. Eduardo Arroyo (1937–2018) was known for work steeped in social and political critique, always delivered through a vivid figurative visual language packed with nods to popular culture. Over more than six decades, his practice spanned painting, sculpture, stage design, and illustration, marked by bold colours and powerful symbolism. Curated by Marisa Oropesa, the exhibition features over 40 pieces created from the mid-60s through to 2018. The title echoes Arroyo's own words about his approach: 'In truth, painting is an autobiographical process. You're constantly painting your life… there is, undoubtedly, a very close relationship with one's own life. It's a painted biography.' The works gathered for this exhibition come from private collections and major Spanish institutions such as the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Villanueva de los Infantes, and the Colección Azcona. Highlights include El último exilio (1963), Los cuatro dictadores (1963), and Robinson Crusoe (1966) – all from the Reina Sofía's collection – alongside pieces where Arroyo experiments with collage techniques and pays tribute to European literary and cultural references. The exhibition traces the various phases of the artist's career, from his years in exile in Paris – due to his opposition to Franco's dictatorship – to a later, more intimate and ironic production, engaging with literature, cinema, history, and music. According to curator Marisa Oropesa, 'an essential element in Arroyo's iconography is undoubtedly Spanish folklore, to which he gives a new meaning.'

Romeo Beckham moves on from girlfriend Kim 'with blonde model' in Paris
Romeo and Kim split just two weeks ago. Romeo Beckham only split with his ex, Kim Turnbull, a few weeks ago and has apparently already moved on. The second eldest Beckham child was spotted with a blonde model in Paris. David and Victoria Beckham's 22-year-old son has found himself surrounded by rumours of a family feud after his older brother Brooklyn, 26, decided to avoid their dad's 50th birthday. Brooklyn was reportedly 'uneasy' about Romeo dating Kim, as he was once close friends with her, and felt his parents were 'favouring' his younger brother, who was seen beaming in snaps from David's birthday, writes the Mirror. Amid the family rift, Romeo and Kim parted ways two weeks ago and now it looks like it's all-change again after the latest snaps coming in from Paris. Romeo was spotted in a car in the French capital, sporting a shaved head, wearing a black Champion sweatshirt and tracksuit bottoms. He was pictured in the car with German model, Caroline Daur, 30, leaving a bash at the swanky, Hotel Costes. Romeo jumped into a taxi with the influencer - who was rocking a strapless minidress and who has 5m followers on Instagram - and other pals after enjoying an evening together, before hot-footing it to Julia nightclub, where they stayed until the early hours. The pair sparked romance rumours as they went to great lengths not be snapped together as they left the venue separately. However, they then headed off in the same car alongside others, reports the Mail. It is said that Romeo and Caroline bonded over their love of tennis, with both attending the Men's Singles Semi Final at the French Open on Friday. Romeo's representatives have been contacted for comment. Insiders say that things remain 'amicable' between Romeo and his ex Kim, and insist that their split has nothing to do with the bitter Beckham feud, which is said to have been sparked by their relationship. Brooklyn is said to have felt Kim's reasons for dating his brother were 'disingenuous' amid rumours he used to date the DJ. However, in a now deleted Instagram post Cruz Beckham denied Brooklyn was ever in a relationship with Kim. Speaking to the Mail about Romeo's split with the DJ, who the model once referred to his as his "world", a source said: "Romeo and Kim are both young and they had a lovely time together but at that age things don't always last forever and they decided to split up. "They have been friendly since and have even been at the same venues. It's a huge shame, particularly as David and Victoria really adored her and thought she made Romeo happy but it wasn't to be. "David and Victoria would hate for the view to be that they split because of Nicola and Brooklyn because that simply isn't the case." Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community!

Love Island 2025 first look with huge new twist and format change
Love Island launches tonight as 12 brand new islanders hope to find love in the Mallorcan villa this summer Love Island is back tonight on ITV2 with 12 brand new sexy singletons hoping to find love in the Mallorcan villa this summer. Here is your sneak peek into the launch episode before the show hits screens at 9pm. The episode kicks off with the girls - Shakira, Meg, Alima, Sophie, Megan and Helena - entering the newly refurb villa first, without any boys, as they all get to know one another. The conversation soon turns to dating as they each express their excitement to meet the single boys and start shouting for them to enter the villa. They don't have long to wait as host Maya Jama arrives and takes them to the fire pit for a chat. Getting straight to the point, Maya asks them what each of their types are, as Shakira starts by stating: "Tall, muscly, nice smile but for me it's all about personality. Witty, funny, charming." Helena laughs as she adds: "Personality always, my bar is low, I'm not fussy!" while payroll specialist Meg teases that she wants: "Tanned skin, taller and naughty eyes." 29-year-old Sophie says: "I want someone that's a gentleman, not a man child," while aspiring actress Megan jokingly adds: "I'm easily charmed, which is the problem…" Scots contestant Alima is headset in what she wants: "A Prince Charming Disney Prince… with no facial hair." Maya then announces a shocking change to the show's format, giving the girls the decision on who they want to couple up with based on their dating profiles. She reveals: "This year things are slightly different. You've told me what your type on paper is, but does that match your ideal man in reality? Come and join me by the pool." As the girls line up, Maya explains: "Girls, in front of you there are six love hearts and each boy has given me their dating profile which is written on each of these hearts - shall we have a look at what these boys have to offer?" On the boards, the girls see descriptions for this year's boys - Ben, Dejon, Harry, Conor, Blu and Tommy. They have to decide who they'd like to couple up with based on these key stats with the boy's names, age, job and a headline such as "I like to play hard and work harder! I love to play, so I work very hard". After chatting about the profiles and guessing who might be their perfect match, Maya counts them down - three, two, one - and the girls race to claim a heart. Only one girl can stand by each heart, so it's first come, first served. With just moments to choose, will everyone end up with the boy they wanted? or will there be instant regrets, leaving the girls eager to swap? Now it's the boys turn. With the girls locked in, they enter the villa one by one to discover who chose them. Will sparks fly right away - or did the girls rush into their decision? In another turn of events, Love Island UK has their first ever American bombshell. As Toni swaps Sin City for the Island of Majorca. Just as the islanders are getting settled into their new couples and getting to know one another, Maya makes a shock return to the villa in the evening with the huge news. Gathering everyone at the fire pit, Maya reveals the day isn't over yet and someone new is already on their way. Out of nowhere, the Villa is rocked by the arrival of the series' first bombshell - Toni - who makes a jaw-dropping entrance into the villa. It doesn't take long for the islanders to clock her American accent, as she flashes a smile and cheekily announces: "Good evening UK! Surprise!" The group is left stunned by the American bombshell and the boys are clearly intrigued, while the girls start to feel the heat. Maya then delivers a game-changing twist: Toni hasn't just flown in from across the pond, she's also about to immediately steal one of the boys. With all eyes on her, and the power in her hands, Toni grins and coyly replies: "Interesting..." But the twists keep coming. Maya has one more announcement - and the clock is ticking for one Islander. The countdown has begun, and someone's time in the Villa might be up quicker than you can say señorita… Love Island airs tonight at 9pm on ITV3 and ITVX.
