DOJ files 62 counts of money laundering vs Alice Guo
The PAOCC said the money laundering case against Guo, also known as Chinese citizen Guo Hua Ping, was filed before Capas, Tarlac Regional Trial Court (RTC).
The charges include 26 counts of violation of Section 4(a) of the Anti-Money Laundering Law, which relates to transacting a monetary instrument or property that represent, involves, or relates to proceeds of an unlawful activity.
Five counts are for violating Section 4(b) of the same law, which is committed by a person who converts, transfers, disposes of, acquires, possesses or uses such monetary instruments or properties.
Finally, 31 counts are for Section 4(d), which pertain to attempts or conspiracy to commit money laundering offenses.
Just two days ago, Guo personally filed separate counter-affidavits on the tax evasion, falsification, and graft complaints filed against her before the DOJ.
Lawyer Nicole Jamilla, Guo's legal counsel, has maintained that her client is innocent of the criminal charges leveled against the former mayor.
Guo is also facing a qualified trafficking case before a Pasig court, a graft case before a Valenzuela court, and a material misrepresentation case before a Tarlac court.
A quo warranto petition was also filed against Guo with a Manila court, as well as a petition to cancel her birth certificate before a Tarlac court.

Marcos earlier said a total of 6,021 projects were worth more than P350 billion, adding that they do not specify the exact type of flood control structures built, repaired, or rehabilitated. The President's list of 15 contractors does not include SYMS Construction Trading. US seeking Quiboloy extradition, sources say
Documents supporting the US request to extradite Quiboloy were transmitted to the Philippine Department of Justice in June this year, according to sources who have knowledge of the process, but spoke on condition of anonymity due to a lack of authority to speak on the issue. The United States is seeking the extradition of Filipino religious leader Apollo Quiboloy, who is wanted in the US for several charges, including child sex trafficking, engaging in sex with minors, fraud, and money laundering, Philippine government sources told GMA News Online on Wednesday. Documents supporting the US request to extradite Quiboloy were transmitted to the Philippine Department of Justice in June this year, according to sources who have knowledge of the process, but spoke on condition of anonymity due to a lack of authority to speak on the issue. Quiboloy, indicted by a US federal grand jury in 2021, landed on the Federal Bureau of Investigation's most wanted list, which identified the charges against him, such as conspiracy to engage in sex trafficking by force, fraud, and coercion, sex trafficking of children, and bulk cash smuggling. 'The US is seriously seeking the extradition request and taking the necessary steps with the Philippine government in bringing him to justice,' one of the sources said. An extradition treaty signed in 1994 by Manila and Washington states that "all requests for extradition shall be submitted through the diplomatic channel" and "shall be supported by documents, statements, or other types of information which describe the identity and probable location of the person sought." The Philippines is mandated under the treaty to promptly notify the US through the diplomatic channel of its decision on the extradition request. If the extradition request is granted, "the authorities of the contracting parties shall agree on the time and place for the surrender of the person sought," the agreement said. GMA News Online reached out to Philippine Ambassador to Washington Jose Manuel Romualdez for confirmation, but referred the request for comment to the DOJ. BIR to probe ghost flood control projects — Lumagui
The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) will now join the investigation into the alleged anomalous flood control projects, Commissioner Romeo Lumagui Jr. said Wednesday. The bureau will look into the status of the projects and the contractors' tax compliance. 'Sisiguraduhin din natin kung tapos na ba, ano na ba ang nangyari patungkol sa tax payments ng projects na ito,' Lumagui said in an ambush interview at the Department of Justice. (We will verify if they were completed and the status of these projects' tax payments.) Ghost projects are those for which contractors were paid, but the projects were never started, according to the BIR. 'Para sa amin, 'pag sinabing 'ghost project,' wala naman talagang ginawa. Ibig sabihin walang ginastos patungkol sa proyektong 'yan at binayaran siguro sila, pero walang ginastos sa project na 'yan,' he said.
