Milan push for Boniface and Harder, as Gimenez future in doubt

While Victor Boniface is set for a loan with option to buy from Bayer Leverkusen for €32m, Milan are also still pushing for Sporting CP striker Conrad Harder, as Santiago Gimenez might be sold instead. The Rossoneri seem to have abandoned negotiations with Manchester United for Rasmus Hojlund, who is instead closer to joining Napoli. Meanwhile, they would appear to be on the verge of securing Boniface from Bayer Leverkusen, on loan for circa €5m with an option to buy for a further €28m. They are just finalising the details of personal terms with the Nigeria international and Boniface could fly in for his medical as early as Thursday. The 20-year-old would be available for around €25m on a permanent transfer from Portugal. According to this is possible because Milan are by no means convinced they want to keep Santiago Gimenez, despite the fact they only bought him in January. Bayer Leverkusen keen to sign Jonathan Clauss from Nice

Bayer Leverkusen are keen to sign France international right-back Jonathan Clauss (32) from OGC Nice, according to Foot Mercato. The former Lens and Marseille fullback was reportedly the subject of serious interest from a still-unnamed club, and the latter is actually Erik ten Hag's Werkself. Clauss, who has earned 14 caps and scored twice for Les Bleus, only joined Nice last summer after leaving Olympique de Marseille. Clauss was reunited with Franck Haise, who he played under previously at Racing Club de Lens where the Sang & Or made a second-placed finish in Ligue 1 and qualified for the UEFA Champions League. The Frenchman has entered the final months of his OGC Nice contract. Foot Mercato understands that Clauss is currently reviewing his options. Should he join Bayer Leverkusen, he'd link up with fellow France international defender Loïc Badé. Clauss would also return to Germany, where he broke through with Arminia Bielefeld. AC Milan reignite talks for Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface

AC Milan have revived their pursuit of Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface (h/t journalist Sacha Tavolieri). Having received the green light from the Nigerian striker, the Rossoneri are trying to reach an agreement with the Bundesliga club. Noah Okafor's imminent transfer to Leeds United further depletes the centre-forward options and leaves Milan with Santiago Gimenez as the only reliable number nine. Boniface has made a significant impact at Leverkusen since his move from Union Saint-Gilloise in 2023. He tallied 21 goals and 10 assists in his debut season to help Die Werkself clinch the Bundesliga title ahead of Bayern Munich.. Boniface struggled with injuries last season, but still bagged eight goals in 18 league games. Doubts have emerged over his place as new manager Erik ten Hag reportedly prefers Patrik Schick and Christian Kofane above the Nigerian. His €50 million valuation could be a sticking point, but Milan will look to negotiate the fee given the player's desire to join them. They are due to receive €20m from Okafor's sale, which will aid them in signing a new centre-forward. Milan are also working on a deal to sign Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund, but face tough competition from Napoli. Manager Massimiliano Allegri has strengthened the squad with the additions of Samuele Ricci, Luka Modric, Ardon Jashari, Pervis Estupinan, Koni De Winter and Zachary Athekamy this summer. The Rossoneri will kick off their Serie A campaign against Cremonese this weekend.
