SB19 Charts Its First Album In A Major Music Market
For years now, K-pop musicians and bands have been scoring huge commercial wins in Western markets, long after the genre took over South Korea's music industry. For some time, many in the music business have been wondering when other Asian acts will develop similarly-massive fan bases in places like the United States and the United Kingdom. What style and nation will be next to export its own signature sound?
A handful of J-pop and Chinese stars have broken through, and now one Filipino boy band appears to be representing its country and paving the way for what could become a new wave of what's known as Pinoy pop. SB19 recently released its new EP, Simula at Wakas, and it's become a commercial win in the United Kingdom.
Simula at Wakas opens on a pair of U.K.-based rankings this week. The short studio effort starts inside the top 10 on the Official Album Downloads chart, where it launches at No. 4. It also just barely manages to become a top 40 bestseller on the even-busier and more competitive Official Albums Sales roster, where it opens at No. 40.
The Filipino boy band has only reached two other tallies in the nation before. 'Dam,' the lead single from the new effort, debuted on a handful of rankings back in March. 'Dam' climbed to No. 4 on both the Official Singles Sales and Official Singles Downloads rosters. That means SB19 has now cracked the uppermost tier — and coincidentally peaked at No. 4 — on a trio of lists.
This week, the Official Albums Sales chart is especially packed with new releases. The all-encompassing ranking of the bestselling titles in the country — which includes both digital and physical purchases — sees 25 new projects start ahead of Simula at Wakas.
When it comes to platforms like iTunes and Amazon in the U.K., the field wasn't nearly as competitive. Just three projects — Ghosts' Skeleta (No. 1), Stereophonics' Make Him Laugh, Make Him Cry, Make 'Em (No. 2) and James Arthur's Pisces (No. 3) — kept the Filipino musicians from leading the charge. Still, the group managed to beat out some well-known stars, such as Billy Idol, Wu-Tang Clan, and even Jeff Goldblum, the actor and musician, all of whom start behind the vocalists.

Long-Awaited PS5 Exclusive RPG Gets Troubling Update
An upcoming PS5 exclusive action adventure RPG has received a concerning update from a player who got their hands on the game at a recent preview event. Journalists and content creators recently got to play at an event in China, and one of the participants has shared a couple of issues that has fans worried. Will PS5 exclusive RPG Lost Soul Aside live up to expectations? A fan and former insider, who goes as Lunatic Ignus on X, claims to have played Lost Soul Aside at the aforementioned event. According to them, creator Yang Bing confirmed that the game is AA rather than AAA, and its $60 price tag is cause for concern. Lunatic Ignus claims that Lost Soul Aside 'doesn't stand up for itself,' and in some parts, it 'feels very cheap with animations and combat.' The player reckons that although Chinese gamers are intrigued by the game, it's overpriced for what it has to offer. As a reminder, the game was funded and is being published by Sony Interactive Entertainment on both PS5 and PC. For comparison purposes, Black Myth: Wukong launched as a $60 game whereas Wuchang: Fallen Feathers came with a $49.99 price tag. Hit RPG Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 also cost $49.99 at launch. Lost Soul Aside was announced more than a decade ago, but Lunatic Ignus claims they were told at the event that development didn't 'truly' start until 2021, and it took its toll on Yang Bing's health. The verdict on Lost Soul Aside will arrive when the game releases on August 29. In the meantime, check out some new gameplay footage: The post Long-Awaited PS5 Exclusive RPG Gets Troubling Update appeared first on PlayStation LifeStyle.

‘M3GAN 2.0' Will Not Slay in Japan
The hits just keep coming for M3GAN 2.0, as Universal is opting to not release it in Japan. Originally, the action-horror sequel was set to come out in the territory on October 10. Now, the movie's Japanese Twitter account announced in a (translated) post the studio 'decided to cancel the theatrical release of [the film]. We thank you for your continued support and ask for your understanding.' — 映画『M3GAN/ミーガン 2.0』公式 (@m3gan_JP) August 1, 2025M3GAN 2.0 first came out in late June in North America and other territories, but it had some sizeable competition in How to Train Your Dragon and F1. With its thunder stolen, the box office dropoff was so steep, Blumhouse head Jason Blum admitted that it bit off more than it could chew. The sequel's theatrical release being junked in Japan only underlines how we might not see the android again for quite a while, if at all. At the time of writing, Universal hasn't announced if it'll put the film on streaming in the region. On the other hand, the franchise's fortunes may be reversed in its upcoming spinoff, SOULM8TE. The already-made erotic thriller starring Lily Sullivan and David Rysdahl about a man buying an android to replace his dead wife is expected for January 2026, and it could be the save Blumhouse needs to keep making M3GAN movies. Until then, U.S. fans can watch M3GAN 2.0 digitally or wait for its physical, unrated release on September 23. Want more io9 news? Katy Perry And Justin Trudeau's Relationship: Reports
There's a new report about Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau. The two made headlines earlier this week for being photographed grabbing dinner together at a Montreal restaurant. The Canadian ex-prime minister was then seen singing along in the crowd at Katy's Lifetimes tour. Earlier this year, reports emerged that Katy had split from fiancé Orlando Bloom after nine years together. Similarly, Justin was married to Sophie Grégoire Trudeau for 18 years until their separation in 2023. A source now told People that Katy and Justin "are interested in each other, but it will take a while to see where this goes." 'She is traveling around the world, and he is figuring out his life now that he is no longer prime minister of Canada, but there is an attraction. They have a lot in common," the source continued, listing "music" and being "idealists." Both Katy and Justin also have children; Katy has a daughter and Justin has three kids. 'Their own personal responsibilities could make this relationship move slower than it would, but there are ways to see the other and still fulfill their parenting responsibilities,' the source added. Another source further said, '[The] timing seems good for them, although a romance is in very early stages." I suppose only time will tell...
