QEF strengthens Qatar's position as hub for dialogue: Minister

Minister of Commerce and Industry HE Sheikh Faisal bin Thani bin Faisal Al Thani said that Qatar Economic Forum, Powered by Bloomberg, which will launch its fifth edition on Tuesday, represents a key milestone in strengthening Qatar's position as a pivotal hub for global economic dialogue and a leading international platform for exchanging views on current economic issues and challenges and exploring prospects for growth and prosperity in an increasingly fast-changing global environment.
The minister noted that the forum stands out for the participation of heads of state, government officials, business leaders, CEOs of major institutions, investors, academics, and entrepreneurs from around the world, reflecting its growing status on the international stage.
He emphasised that the forum embodies one of the outcomes of Qatar's strategic orientation toward economic openness and the strengthening of global partnerships, driven by its firm belief in the importance of constructive dialogue to address global economic challenges and in adopting innovative solutions that contribute to building a more stable and sustainable economic future.
He pointed out that this year's edition is significant due to its focus on several key themes that reflect the most pressing economic issues regionally and globally, which include geopolitics, globalization, and trade; energy security; technological developments; business and investment outlook; and sports and entertainment. These themes form an integrated framework that reflects the growing interconnectedness of politics, economy, technology, and culture in shaping the future of economic development, he explained.
He added that by hosting this global event, Qatar reaffirms its ste adfast commitment to playing an active role in shaping the global economy, promoting multilateral dialogue, and providing an enabling environment for the exchange of innovative ideas, contributing to market stability and the stimulation of sustainable growth.
His Excellency noted that, based on the wise directives of the country's leadership, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry is working to support these efforts by developing economic and trade policies, stimulating the business and investment environment, and enhancing the competitiveness of the national economy, all in alignment with the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030 and reinforcing the country's position as a global economic and investment hub.
The minister concluded his statement to QNA by saying that they are certain that this edition of the Forum will mark a new milestone in the journey of international economic coordination and will contribute to drawing a more inclusive and adaptable roadmap to address current and future economic challenges, fulfilling the aspirations of people for development and prosperity.

A report was prepared regarding the incident and referred to the competent security authorities to complete legal procedures. An administrative closure decision was also issued for 30 days, with the ministry rejecting any reconciliation requests submitted by the company. The seizure was carried out in cooperation with the ministry of Interior as part of joint inspection campaigns to monitor markets. The ministry affirmed that this measure is part of its ongoing efforts to protect consumers and ensure the safety of products offered in the market, emphasizing that it will not tolerate any practices that harm the health and safety of individuals or violate the country's laws and regulations. The ministry calls on all citizens and residents to report any violations or illegal practices.

India's Eight Core Industries recorded 2 percent growth in July

Agencies The combined Index of Eight Core Industries (ICI) increased by 2.0 per cent (provisional) in July, 2025 as compared to the Index in July, 2024, Ministry of Commerce and Industry said in a statement. The production of Steel, Cement, Fertilizer and Electricity recorded positive growth in July, 2025. The ICI measures the combined and individual performance of production of eight core industries viz. Coal, Crude Oil, Natural Gas, Refinery Products, Fertilizers, Steel, Cement and Electricity. The Eight Core Industries comprise 40.27 percent of the weight of items included in the Index of Industrial Production (IIP). The summary of the Index of Eight Core Industries is given below: Coal - Coal production (weight: 10.33 per cent) declined by 12.3 per cent in July, 2025 over July, 2024. Its cumulative index declined by 3.1 per cent during April to July, 2025-26 over corresponding period of the previous year. Crude Oil - Crude Oil production (weight: 8.98 per cent) declined by 1.3 per cent in July, 2025 over July, 2024. Its cumulative index declined by 1.7 per cent during April to July, 2025-26 over corresponding period of the previous year. Natural Gas - Natural Gas production (weight: 6.88 per cent) declined by 3.2 per cent in July, 2025 over July, 2024. Its cumulative index declined by 2.6 per cent during April to July, 2025-26 over corresponding period of the previous year. Petroleum Refinery Products - Petroleum Refinery production (weight: 28.04 per cent) declined by 1.0 per cent in July, 2025 over July, 2024. Its cumulative index declined by 0.3 per cent during April to July, 2025-26 over corresponding period of the previous year. Fertilizers - Fertilizer production (weight: 2.63 per cent) increased by 2.0 per cent in July, 2025 over July, 2024. Its cumulative index declined by 2.2 per cent during April to July, 2025-26 over corresponding period of the previous year. Steel - Steel production (weight: 17.92 per cent) increased by 12.8 per cent in July, 2025 over July, 2024. Its cumulative index increased by 8.5 per cent during April to July, 2025-26 over corresponding period of the previous year. Cement - Cement production (weight: 5.37 per cent) increased by 11.7 per cent in July, 2025 over July, 2024. Its cumulative index increased by 8.9 per cent during April to July, 2025-26 over corresponding period of the previous year.
