Art that defies age in Fairland

On July 19, Lillian Gray Fine Art School hosted their Adult Art Exhibition. The art studio served as the best venue for their adult students to boldly display the pieces of art they had worked on in the year thus far. For many of these students, art was a forgotten form of expression, one they had tucked away, having let time, and life with all its inevitable changes, come in the way of. Read more: Soaring high in his journey through art Co-owner and art teacher Adele Jansen van Rensburg shared with the paper why it's never too late to go back to art or start your journey. 'It's a space for anyone who wants to step back into their creativity, or for those who have never picked up a paint brush.' Jansen van Rensburg added that her favourite students were the ones who had never tried art. The artist said that one is never too old to pick up the easel and paint brush. 'I have seen many retired people who neglected their creativity for years, go back to pick up art again.' Jansen van Rensburg says one suppressing their art and creativity is akin to a dam with no fresh water. As she sees it, creativity needs to flow like a river. 'I love seeing the process of someone creating art. I also love when someone bravely comes to school, eager to start their art journey again, even with all their insecurities.' Jansen van Rensburg said witnessing their bravery, and their struggles, it's inspiring that they keep arriving for classes, most importantly for the art. Image: Instagram Mpumelelo Mseleku, the son of renowned businessman and polygamist Musa Mseleku, shocked many viewers when he paid lobola for his second girlfriend, 21-year-old Amahle Casela, before his first girlfriend, Tirelo Kale. On the latest episode of 'Izingane Zes'thembu', which aired on Sunday, July 13, Mseleku visited the Casela family with his uncles to pay lobola (bride price), leaving Kale in the dark. Following in his polygamist father's footsteps, Mseleku has also started his journey by paying lobola for his second girlfriend. Next Stay Close ✕ Kale recently addressed her fans on Instagram Live, discussing her parents' rejection of Mseleku's lobola proposal. The 25-year-old's parents cited concerns about her incomplete qualification, unemployment, and the relationship issues she and Mseleku have as reasons for their decision. In an interview with 'Independent Media Lifestyle', leading up to the airing of the reality TV show, Kale opened up about the cracks forming in her relationship with Mseleku. The young mother candidly discussed her turbulent relationship with Mseleku, revealing that she was unaware of the cracks forming. 'I honestly didn't see the cracks forming in our relationship,' she said. 'It really seemed solid until it wasn't. The betrayal … wow, I genuinely didn't expect it,' she said. Since the reality show aired, Mseleku and Kale's relationship has been more rocky than rosy, marked by constant disagreements. Mseleku's growing focus on his new relationship with Casela has seemingly taken centre stage, leaving Kale feeling neglected and abandoned, further straining their already tumultuous partnership.

It's a wrap: A look inside Muvhango's final day of filming

The final episode of Muvhango will air in August. Behind the scenes of Muvhango. Picture: Instagram/@muvhangosa SABC's first Tshivenda language soap opera, Muvhango, has officially wrapped production after almost three decades on air. On Thursday, the long-running soapie shared a behind-the-scenes video on social media, giving fans a glimpse into the cast's emotional final day on set. 'I am really emotional since it's the last day. I'm going to miss everybody, including all the departments,' said cast member Wavhudi Lidzengu. Lidzengu joined Muvhango nearly a decade ago at just 17, playing the role of Vhutshilo Mukwevho. Debuting in 1997, Muvhango made history as South Africa's first Tshivenda-language soap opera. It quickly became a cultural staple and a celebration of the indigenous language on mainstream TV. The final episode will air next month, on 8 August. Speaking about the show's cancellation last month, creator and executive producer Duma Ndlovu said it had been a privilege and an honour to create television moments that placed marginalised languages at their centre. 'Muvhango gave an opportunity to an ignored language that has become one of the most celebrated in South Africa now,' he added. SABC CEO Nomsa Chabeli confirmed the news in May, stating that the show would help the channel regain audience share. 'Come August, we are launching a new telenovela called Pimville on SABC2, and based on that, we will be really driving that audience share back to SABC2. 'We're working hard to ensure that the script is relevant and that the storyline does what we need it to do,' she told TV with Thinus.
