Colts add rookie RB to replace Salvon Ahmed, who was injured by illegal hip-drop tackle
The Colts have signed former Missouri running back Nate Noel to replace veteran Salvon Ahmed, multiple league sources confirmed to IndyStar on Monday. Ahmed suffered a severe ankle injury last week after being taken down by a hip-drop tackle from undrafted free agent safety Trey Washington as he headed to the end zone. A return this season is highly unlikely, but a source said Ahmed will be healthy again in 2026. Indianapolis had initially signed Ahmed last season as insurance when Jonathan Taylor suffered a high ankle sprain, and he'd been with the roster ever since. 'Heartbroken. Angry. Sad,' Ahmed wrote on his Instagram account last week. 'I'm going through so many emotions. I went through so much just to get back on the field, and it's cut short at the blink of an eye again. I do know my GOD is the same in the valley as he is in the mountain top. It all happens for a reason and at some point it will all be clear to me. Thank you GOD in advance for whatever you have planned for me.' Noel, an undrafted free agent out of Missouri, was waived by the Dolphins shortly after the start of training camp. Undersized at 5-8 and 194 pounds, Noel spent his first four seasons at Appalachian State and rushed for 3,074 yards before transferring to the Tigers for his final year of college eligibility. Used as the team's primary running back, Noel rushed for 818 yards and three touchdowns with Missouri last season, but he went undrafted in April.

Injury update on Colts' rookie DE JT Tuimoloau after preseason game vs. Ravens
After exiting the Colts vs. Ravens preseason game late, JT Tuimoloau provided an injury update afterward. Indianapolis Colts' rookie defensive end JT Tuimoloua exited the preseason opener with a knee injury. After the game, Tuimoloau met with reporters and provided an update. "I feel good," Tuimoloau said, via the Indy Star. "I'm a little banged up but I'm just playing it safe and getting my body ready for the next game." Tuimoloau would play for much of the game before exiting in the fourth quarter and put together an impressive debut. He would finish with two tackles for loss, one sack, two quarterback hits, and one pass deflection, according to ESPN. Kwity Paye and Laiatu Latu will be leading the way at defensive end, but Tuimoloau looks like he will be next up in that rotation. During his time at Ohio State, Tuimoloau brought a well-rounded skill set to that defensive front, impacting both the run and passing games. He's also versatile, able to line up across multiple gaps. Anthony Richardson would also exit Thursday's game with a dislocated finger and is considered day-to-day. Head coach Shane Steichen also announced that cornerback Justin Walley suffered an ACL injury in Tuesday's joint practice, and he will be out for the season.
