GOF seizes over RM100mil worth of e-waste in raid on illegal factory
Ulu Kinta GOF Northern Brigade commander SAC Shahrum Hashim said all five Myanmar nationals, including a woman aged between 25 and 45, were arrested during an operation conducted over five hours, starting at 7pm on Monday.
"Intelligence revealed that the factory had been processing e-waste, plastics, metals, and aluminium for approximately a year. Inspections confirmed that the facility was operating without any approval from the Department of Environment," he said.
"We are still in the process of gathering more information regarding the owner of the factory," he said at a press conference yesterday.
Shahrum added that inspections also revealed the factory had employed foreign workers without valid documentation.
The case is currently being investigated under Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63, as well as Sections 34A and 34B of the Environmental Quality Act 1974.

AYER HITAM: Thirty-two foreigners were detained in a raid conducted by the Johor Immigration Department at a place dubbed 'Mini Pakistan' in Ayer Hitam town near here. He said the foreigners were 20 Pakistani males, nine Bangladeshi men, an Indonesia man and two Indonesian women adding all detainees including three local men aged between 20 and 54. Mohd Rusdi said the illegal foreign workers have committed offences under the Regulation 39(b) of the Immigration Regulations 1963, Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 (Act 155) and Section 15(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 (Act 155). 'We will continue to work closely with other enforcement agencies to eradicate the influx of illegal immigrants in the state," he said. Mohd Rusdi said Johor Immigration will not compromise and will take stern actions against employers and business owners for employing illegal foreign workers.

Thai police to hand over Eda Ezrin to Malaysian immigration today
PASIR MAS: Thai police will transfer dikir barat singer Wan Norshaheeda Azlin, known as Eda Ezrin, and five others to Malaysian immigration officials today. The handover will take place at the Immigration, Customs, Quarantine and Security (ICQS) Complex in Rantau Panjang. Bukit Aman Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) director Datuk Hussein Omar Khan and Kelantan police chief Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat confirmed the details. Mohd Yusoff stated that police officers have been stationed at the Rantau Panjang ICQS for the process. He added that two of the six individuals entered Thailand illegally and will be detained under Section 5(2) of the Immigration Act 1959/63. All individuals will undergo drug testing and have their statements recorded upon arrival in Malaysia. Eda, her husband, and four friends were released by the Narathiwat Prison Court yesterday after Thai prosecutors failed to present witnesses and evidence. The court also rejected the prosecution's sixth request for an extension on Wednesday. The six Malaysians were arrested on November 1 last year for allegedly possessing 6,059 Yaba pills. Family members of the detainees waited since early morning at the Sungai Golok Police Station in Narathiwat for their release. Eda remains in Narathiwat and will be taken to the Sungai Golok police station before proceeding to the immigration office for documentation. Eda Ezrin and five others to be detained by police upon return to Kelantan
The detention is to facilitate the recording of their statements following their recent release from Thai custody. Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat (left), Eda Ezrin (right) RANTAU PANJANG – Kelantanese singer Eda Ezrin, along with her husband and four acquaintances, will be detained by police upon their return to Kelantan on Thursday afternoon. The detention is to facilitate the recording of their statements following their recent release from Thai custody. Eda Ezrin, whose real name is Wan Norshaheeda Azlin Wan Ismail, 30, and the five other individuals are expected to arrive at the Sungai Golok police station. From there, they will proceed to the Golok Immigration Detention Depot for documentation before being allowed to return home. Kelantan Police Chief Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat confirmed the development, adding that two of the six individuals will also face arrest under immigration laws. 'We have stationed officers for this action. However, two of the six individuals who entered Thailand illegally will be arrested under Section 5(2) of the Immigration Act 1958/63,' he said. The two individuals facing the immigration charges are Eridieka Mohd Noor, 33, and Zuhaira Nasrin, 26. Meanwhile, Eda Ezrin's husband, Mohd Affendi Ahmad, 35, along with Mohamad Alif Deraman, 33, and Nur Aida Mamat, 33, will be detained for the purpose of having their statements recorded.
