A Brazilian television reporter narrowly avoided a robbery attempt just seconds before going live on air in a dramatic incident caught on camera.
Clara Nery, a journalist with Band Rio, was preparing to deliver a live report from the streets of Rio de Janeiro when a man on a motorcycle attempted to snatch her phone.
The scene unfolded in full view of the rolling camera, capturing the suspect circling past her before making a grab for the device.

The attempted thief quickly fled the area. However, Nery later confirmed that she recovered her phone after the suspect dropped it while fleeing.
'It was a real scare to go live, but the important thing is that everything turned out okay!" she wrote in an Instagram post, sharing footage of the incident.
Expressing gratitude, she added: 'Thanks for the messages and support from my coworkers, the Military Police, and the Civil Police."
Nery noted that the motorbike's license plate had been concealed using a piece of cardboard. Authorities have reviewed the footage and are working to track down the suspect.
'We trust the work of the Military Police and the Civil Police. We have no doubt that he will be found and arrested," she said, according to The New York Post.
'It remains to be seen whether, once arrested, his detention will be upheld, as we see many similar cases, but unfortunately, criminals like this are released after just a few days," she added.
The incident comes amid a sharp rise in phone thefts in the city.
According to data from the Rio de Janeiro Public Security Institute cited by The Nightly, more than 2,300 mobile phones were reported stolen in June 2025 — a 27 per cent increase compared to 1,808 cases during the same period in 2024.
Police continue to investigate and are urging anyone with information about the suspect to come forward.

High Court takes BIG decision on Kohli's RCB teammate Yash Dayal in minor's rape case

Virat Kohli and Yash Dayal. (PIC - X) New Delhi: The Rajasthan High Court has dismissed a stay on the arrest of Virat Kohli's RCB teammate, fast bowler Yash Dayal in the case of the rape of a minor girl. What were the rulings of the High Court? The court held that as the victim is a minor, no interim relief is possible to the accused cricketer against arrest. Justice Sudesh Bansal hearing the case in Jaipur also ordered the case diary and fixed the next hearing on August 22. What did Yash Dayal's attorney say? Yash Dayal's lawyer, Kunal Jaiman, in the course of the hearing contended that the case was a part of a bigger conspiracy to tarnish the image of the cricketer. He contended that the same case of rape had previously been lodged in Ghaziabad, which was stayed by the Allahabad High Court. 'Just seven days after that, another FIR was registered in Jaipur. A gang seems to be involved in blackmailing by filing such cases,' Yash Dayal's lawyer alleged. What is the Jaipur case? But Sanganer police station in-charge Anil Jaiman revealed the Jaipur case details, adding that the complainant, who was a minor at the time of the incident, had met Yash Dayal while watching a cricket match. She then blamed Yash Dayal for sexually assaulting her nearly two years ago on the assurance of assisting her in her cricket career. The police also said Yash Dayal raped the girl for the second time in Sitapura hotel, Jaipur, during the season of IPL 2025 after the girl was invited to the room by Yash Dayal. Since the girl was 17-years-old at the time of the first rape, an FIR was registered under Sections of IPC and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Interestingly, Dayal had earlier created a commotion by claiming to have posted communal content on his Instagram handle two years back. He later clarified that while two contentious reports were posted from his account, but he did not post them from his account.

Peter Nguyen threatened to call the police when he was caught vaping on an American Airlines plane. Peter Kobe Nguyen, an Internet personality and a self-described pickleball coach, created a scene that included some social media flexing on board an American Airlines plane after he was caught vaping inside the toilet of the aircraft. Nguyen recorded the video and posted on Instagram claiming that the airhostess put her hands on him but it backfired as his followers told him that he was at fault and was now trying to gain sympathy. 'I was actually sitting on the toilet and you were opening the door,' he said in the video. 'I don't care,' the crew member replied. 'You can keep saying you're sorry but I care about all these passengers.' View this post on Instagram A post shared by Kobe Peter 'Twoey King' Nguyen (@ "I have a lawyer, I am a lawyer," Nguyen said, forcing the airhostess to apologize. Then he threatened to call the police when he landed. In a follow-up post, Nguyen wrote that 'American Airlines customer service' had called to tell them they were conducting 'internal investigation' of the incident and that 'similar instances had happened in the past.' 'Justice is about to be served,' he wrote in the caption. American Airlines acknowledged the incident and said: "A customer on American Airlines flight 2860 with service from Phoenix (PHX) to San Francisco (SFO) was removed from the aircraft upon arrival at SFO due to disruptive behavior. We thank our customers for their patience and apologize for any inconvenience." "The San Francisco Police Department met the flight upon arrival and escorted the customer out of the concourse." "What a sorry attempt to portray yourself as a victim. Stop Vaping in the airplane, case closed," the top comment of the Instagram post read. 'I have a lawyer. I AM a lawyer' lmao. No dude you play pickleball," another mocked him. "You should go to federal prison for vaping on a plane and endangering all the passengers on the plane," a third user wrote.
