Tom Holland hints at bold new approach for next Spider-Man movie
In an interview with Flip Your Wig, Holland reflected on the limitations faced while filming No Way Home during the pandemic. 'We were really restricted… we shot the entire film on stages,' he shared. This time, however, they're heading outside. 'We're really gonna lean into that old school filmmaking and shoot in real locations,' Holland said.
One of those real locations? The streets of Glasgow, which will host a major action set piece. 'It's gonna feel like a breath of fresh air, and I think the fans are gonna be over the moon,' Holland added.
Though details about the plot remain under wraps, this marks the first substantial update on Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which is scheduled to hit theaters on July 31, 2026. Marvel fans will also see Jon Bernthal's Punisher in the film, adding another layer of excitement to the already anticipated sequel.
While Holland didn't spill major spoilers, his comments offer insight into both the production approach and his enthusiasm for the next chapter. And for fans who missed the kinetic energy of real-world set pieces in recent superhero films, this throwback to practical locations might be exactly what they've been hoping for.

Fantastic Four: First Steps draws early praise for visuals and cast performances
Early social media reactions to Fantastic Four: First Steps, Marvel Studios' upcoming reboot of the superhero team, surfaced this week following a limited preview screening. The responses have focused on the film's visuals, score, and emotional tone. Street saying #FantasticFour as one of the prettiest CBMs of all time and the most beautiful CBM of the year. — Marc (@MarAbh999) July 19, 2025 The film's visual effects, cosmic setting, and retro-futuristic design have been highlighted by multiple users, with references made to its portrayal of characters like Galactus and the Silver Surfer. I have seen #FantasticFour ! The main 4 were excellently cast and radiate chemistry, their interactions are just as exciting as any action scene Galactus and silver surfer are incredibly realized and bring serious stakes, something missing from recent mcu movies a treat!! — maddox 🦇 (@selinasboot) July 19, 2025 #FantasticFour First Steps is visually one of the best things Marvel has ever made. Parts feel like Interstellar & demand IMAX. Galactus is awesome. Silver Surfer looks really, really good. VFX were often immaculate. Cosmically and on Earth, Matt Shakman dropped a visual feast. — Brandon Davis (@BrandonDavisBD) July 19, 2025 Viewers also noted the film's emotional and character-driven storytelling, with themes of family and sacrifice being frequently mentioned. #FantasticFour is a story about family above all else, where each member of the team is equally important. No one is underserved; the movie excels when fleshing out the various bonds between Pedro, Vanessa, Ebon, & Joseph. The retro '60s aesthetic works on all fronts. — Andrew J. Salazar (@AndrewJ626) July 19, 2025 The tone of the film was described as more mature and introspective compared to recent Marvel titles. The performances of the main cast, Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach, were consistently referenced. Users noted strong on-screen chemistry and praised their portrayals of the core characters. Other reactions referenced the film's music and direction, describing them as cohesive with the film's atmosphere. While plot specifics remain under wraps, some posts alluded to stylistic risks taken in the narrative structure and visuals. Fantastic Four: First Steps is scheduled for theatrical release on July 25, 2025.

Beyond the Spider-Verse moves to June 25, 2027 amid release strategy shift
Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse has officially been delayed, but fans won't have to wait much longer. Sony Pictures has moved the highly anticipated animated film's release date from June 4 to June 25, 2027 — a strategic decision designed to maximize the film's summer box office performance. According to Variety, the three-week delay was made to ensure the movie opens when '100% of schools in the U.S. will be on summer break,' giving younger audiences full access to the film's theatrical debut. The timing aims to capitalize on the popularity of Miles Morales and the Spider-Verse franchise among school-aged fans. Originally announced for a March 2024 release, Beyond the Spider-Verse has endured multiple delays. Production was halted due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes in 2023. By the end of 2024, the studio scrapped much of the existing material, leading to a near-complete restart. It wasn't until CinemaCon 2025 that the current release date was confirmed. The trilogy began with the groundbreaking Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse in 2018, which grossed nearly $400 million globally and introduced Miles Morales to the big screen. Its 2023 sequel, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, received critical acclaim and cemented the franchise's status as one of the most beloved animated series of the decade. Now, with Beyond the Spider-Verse set to conclude the trilogy, fans can expect a spectacular sendoff — just a little later than planned.

Disney+ to livestream first-ever movie premiere with 'Fantastic Four' event
Marvel is pulling out all the stops for The Fantastic Four: First Steps, debuting the franchise's most ambitious reboot yet, and marking a major first for Disney+. For the first time ever, the studio is livestreaming a movie premiere on its streaming platform, giving subscribers front-row access to the blue carpet and exclusive footage ahead of the July 25 theatrical release. Set at the iconic Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in Los Angeles, the premiere livestream begins July 21 at 7 p.m. PT and will feature real-time interviews with the star-studded cast: Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach. Also appearing will be Ralph Ineson, Julia Garner, Natasha Lyonne, and key Marvel figures including Kevin Feige and director Matt Shakman. Composer Michael Giacchino will also make an appearance. But the premiere is more than just a spectacle, it offers a preview of Marvel's bold new direction. The film reimagines the Fantastic Four in a retro-futuristic 1960s New York, setting the tone for what the studio hopes is a wildly original chapter in the MCU. It's also deeply personal: the team's first villain is Galactus, and the cosmic threat takes aim directly at Reed and Sue's family, demanding their child in exchange for Earth's survival. While fans won't see the full movie on Disney+, they will get an early taste of what's to come, making the event essential viewing for die-hard Marvel followers. And with Disney experimenting with live events like this, it may signal a larger shift in how the studio engages its audience. The Fantastic Four: First Steps lands in theatres July 25.
