Kolhapur: The development of Chitranagari, Kolhapur's film city, has received approval for Rs 44.4 crore in funding, as announced by MLA Amal Mahadik. The funds will facilitate the essential modernisation of Chitranagari's facilities. At the Workers' Welfare Board drama competition inauguration, Mahadik had initially proposed Rs 50 crore for Chitranagari. Following his request to cultural affairs minister Ashish Shelar, chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, deputy CMs Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar, the authorities sanctioned Rs 44.4 crore. The allocation includes Rs 2.6 crore for CCTV installation and fire safety equipment. Rs 14.7 crore has been designated for constructing the main entrance, installing 300kv solar panels, and developing a temple within the premises. The post-production unit construction received Rs 11.2 crore, while Rs 9.2 crore was allocated for advanced machinery and facilities.
