Discogs Most Wanted: 17 compact disc releases users are after in May 2025

Scotsman12-05-2025
So, if vinyl collecting is a little on the expensive side (and I'll be the first to admit it – roll on payday), then what about dabbling in the somewhat overlooked world of CD collecting?
Though perhaps not as 'on trend' as the vinyl format in recent years, there is a renewed interest in the format, with younger generations now rediscovering the ubiquitous disc that can be played almost anywhere.
Be it a DVD player, a Discman , or the car stereo, the format is undergoing a bit of a resurgence this year, with Gen Z sharing their latest CD finds on TikTok or Instagram . And with charity shops across the United Kingdom often offering a wide selection of CDs for very little, perhaps now is as good a time as any to hop aboard the bandwagon while it's gaining momentum?
We've consulted Discogs – any excuse for this writer to visit – to find out what CD releases are currently on the most Wantlists on the online marketplace.
But before you think you've scored something valuable, remember to check the pressing date using matrix codes or catalogue numbers, verify the pressing location, and, above all, assess the CD's condition. A CD resembling a drinks coaster won't elicit the response you're hoping for…
So, what 17 CD releases are Discogs users looking for in May 2025? Read on to find out!

Corrie recasts character for a second time in a year as new star begins filming

A young Coronation Street actor has departed the show, meaning another new face will soon join the cast. Carter-J Murphy joined the ITV soap as Harry Platt towards the end of last year. The character was born in 2016 and is the son of Sarah Platt (Tina O'Brien) and villain Callum Logan. Callum was killed by Kylie Platt before Harry was born, and his body was buried underneath the annex at No.8. After Harry's birth, the body was discovered, and Sarah was hospitalised for postnatal psychosis, having believed that Callum was still alive. Carter-J has only played the role for a handful of episodes, as an amazing opportunity has seen the young star depart the show. It's said the actor has been cast in Matilda the Musical and due to the fact he couldn't juggle the tour and filming for Corrie, he has left. Prior to Carter-J playing Harry, twins Freddie and Isaac Rhodes portrayed the role. Also according to The Sun, an actor called Josh has taken over the role, with his first scenes expected to air within the coming weeks. Carter-J made his screen debut in 2024 in the new Robbie Williams biopic, Better Man, playing a younger version of the singer himself. Another Platt family member was recast earlier this year, with a star called Grace Ashcroft-Gardner taking over the role as Lily Platt. The actress made her debut in a dramatic episode that saw Mick Michaelis (Joe Layton) escape prison and storm Weatherfield High School in search of his daughter Joanie Michaelis (Savannah Pennington). As students realised what was going on, they went in search of safety in locked classrooms. Lily's cousin, Sam Blakeman (Jude Riordan), ran through the corridor and arrived at the door Lily was on the other side of. Sam banged the door, desperate for Lily to open it but she was consumed with fear, meaning she completely froze. In the aftermath of this, Sam struggled with anxiety and panic attacks. The ordeal also reminded him of how his mother Natasha died. In 2022, Harvey Gaskell (Will Mellor) escaped from prison and went in search of revenge on Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson). He pulled the trigger on a gun, believing he was shooting Leanne, but realised moments later that it wasn't her. Sam's mum Natasha later died in hospital. Newcomer Grace has taken over the role from young actress Brooke Malonie, who had played Lily since 2016. More Trending Taking to Instagram last month, Grace shared her excitement at joining the ITV soap. Alongside several behind-the-scenes pictures, she wrote: 'I am so excited to share my news that I have joined the cast of Coronation Street playing the role of Lily Platt!' She went on to thank her management saying: 'It's been a brilliant few months since my first audition, which wouldn't have happened without the fantastic Stagebox team (who I can't thank enough!). 'The whole Corrie team, the cast and crew have been absolutely amazing, I couldn't have asked for any more support during my first few weeks filming on the cobbles,' she continued, before urging her followers to watch her first episodes. Piers Morgan reveals secret Britain's Got Talent judge who was never seen on screen

Ant and Dec were not the original presenters - and it even had a different name she's got talent Piers Morgan reveals secret Britain's Got Talent judge who was never seen on screen PIERS Morgan opened up on what Britain's Got Talent might have looked like if the original format had gone ahead. The TV presenter, 60, became a household name in the U.S after agreeing to take on the role of the "meanie" judge on America's Got Talent in place of the show's creator, Simon Cowell. Piers shared a vintage photo from the 2005 pilot of a show tested by ITV that would go on to become Britain's Got Talent, but looked very different indeed. In the photo posted to Instagram, Piers is sitting at the judges' desk alongside then host of This Morning, Fern Cotton, and music mogul, Simon Cowell. Piers revealed the late Paul O'Grady was meant to host the show and it was named after him, but it fell through when the late TV star fell out with ITV. "Another amazing pic from my past, also randomly posted on X by someone yesterday.. This one is truly historic… it was the first ever panel assembled for the Got Talent franchise anywhere in the world," Piers began in the caption. "Simon Cowell had come up with the idea of a new talent show, ITV ordered a pilot episode to be filmed, and cast Simon, me and Fern Britton (then presenting This Morning) as the judges." Piers continued:" It was hosted by the late, great Paul O'Grady.. and called 'Paul O'Grady's Got Talent'. The acts sat in the audience and came down onto the stage when it was their turn to perform." He described the format as "hysterical" and how ITV was ready to give it the green light, but then "shelved it" after the row with Paul. "However, Simon isn't one of life's quitters, and a few weeks later he texted me to say he'd sold the rights to NBC in the U.S., they wanted to repackage it as 'America's Got Talent', and he wanted me as a judge on it to play the tough meanie role because he was committed to American Idol so couldn't do it," Piers added. "(He said, 'Piers, I need someone as arrogant, obnoxious and judgemental as me, and your name has immediately sprung to mind!')." Piers Morgan's ex wife left 'fighting for her life' after freak accident as son Spencer reveals hospital pics Piers continued:" A month later, I was on the Paramount movie lot in Hollywood, with a trailer next to David Hasselhoff's, and we started filming @agt." The journalist described America's Got Talent as "an instant smash hit No1 summer show in America" to which he owes his "entire and I owe my entire 20-year career over in the States" for. Piers concluded: "The following year @bgt launched in the UK but with Amanda Holden replacing Fern. That was also a No1 smash hit, and Got Talent has now aired in 69 countries, becoming one of the most successful television franchises in history. And it all started with this pic." Before his death, Paul had confirmed that he'd been lined up to host the show, but hated the original name. He said: "I did the pilot for Britain's Got Talent – which was originally going to be called Paul O'Grady's Got Talent. But I told the producers they were having a joke if they thought I would front a show with that title. "The original panel of judges was going to be Simon Cowell, Fern Britton and Piers Morgan. I was the host. Then when I had the row with ITV I was banned from the studios." 4 Piers credited America's Got Talent with launching his stateside career Credit: Alamy

Now in the latest instalment, Ben, 51, travelled to Maun in Botswana before driving for five hours to meet Aleks and husband Ralph Bousfield. Her journey to Botswana, via Namibia, came after she suffered a shocking attack while walking home from a film set in the Big Apple. She told the show of feeling "lonely" before her move to NYC yet, addressing the attack, she bravely said: "I was walking home from a film set late at night. "I heard these catcalls, which is quite common in New York so I just carried on walking. "Then they grabbed me and wanted to get money from me. "While I am digging through my bag looking for something I suddenly feel something kiss my forehead. "That was a gun and so I was held at gunpoint. "I went from having so much control, then this moment someone takes away all these control. Ben Fogle reveals eccentric star of his New Lives In The Wild show has died "When they realised I didn't have anything, they just said 'move' and left. "I went back to my flat and didn't really know what to do. I felt like it was a universal b***h slap. "And the fact that he said move, it felt like an instruction." "And if it lands on a country I'll go there, unless there's a civil war. "And it was Namibia. "Two weeks later I was on the plane. I had a weird feeling like roots were growing out of my feet. "When I arrived it was like 'I'm home, but I don't know why'. I was offered a job so I took a bold leap and went all in." Now she has moved to the Kalahari Desert in Botswana. Her surroundings in the sandy savanna in Southern Africa, are surrounded by lions and leopards. Yet, in the midst of the animals, Aleks has forged strong relations with the indigenous community, setting up a Wisdom Academy for the community. Meanwhile, her husband has created a luxury tourist camp nearby. Aleks addressed the tough conditions to live and work in and said: "The Kalahari kind of hates you." Yet she is intent on her mission and added: "I've got a job to do on this planet and I'm on a mission and that doesn't stop just because I fall in love. "I met the tribe that I have now been working with for 14 years and realised I had to work with them. They've completely saved me, transformed me. "They've brought nature to life around me. Could you get a better gift than that?" OFF SCREEN STRUGGLE The fresh series comes after Ben revealed how he had a 'secret breakdown' last year causing him to burn out. In an emotional update to fans, he explained: "A year ago I suffered a mental health wobble. "An episode. A storm. A blip." "I don't know if there is a specific term for it but it was basically a burnt out, break down. "I've been on quite a journey since I've learnt a lot about my neurological uniquenesses. And I've navigated the storm."
