A collaboration between Sirivannavari brand and Iconcraft, "S'Craft: Craftsmanship 2025" is an exclusive annual collection where Thai textiles from the four regions have been intricately combined with the refined artistry of embroidery under the theme "Royal Weave".
It comprises 88 one-of-a-kind Thai silk handbags crafted with a contemporary design approach, where every item is made with precision to stand out as a unique work of art. The collection seamlessly blends the beauty of textiles from the northern, northeastern, central and southern regions with the exquisite embroidery expertise of Sirivannavari Atelier & Academy.
The weaving patterns and techniques of each region have been reinvented into modern yet authentic pieces that preserve their cultural roots. Embellished with embroidery featuring symbols or local materials from each area, these intricate designs perfectly balance modern creativity with deep respect for Thai heritage.
The collection presents a variety of handbag styles that cater to fashion enthusiasts and the modern generation. They include "S'Signature Pouch", a drawstring bag with a signature short strap; "Busabong Bag", a pleated bag distinguished by its intricate smocking; "Bupa Wristlet", a Japanese-style wristlet; "Busaba Clutch", a sleek long clutch ideal for evening wear; and "Rachapruek Bag", a compact rectangular handbag with sturdy handles.
Each bag is decorated with Sirivannavari's peacock emblem, unveiling its own unique charm -- making them truly one-of-a-kind pieces worth collecting.
The collection also features "Luxe de Siam Exclusive Edit Clutch" as a special highlight. It comprises two exquisite clutches created by Meechai Taesuriya, a national artist renowned for his kab bua fabric and sin muk jok dao (star-motif brocade skirt); and Weeratham Taragoonngernthai, a revered master of Thai silk and founder of Chansoma brand. Both clutches are decorated with the elegant peacock emblem on beautifully woven textiles.
Also, visitors are invited to explore a special exhibition held to showcase the artistic vision and design brilliance of HRH Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya. It presents the intriguing story behind the 88 handbags from the "S'Craft: Craftsmanship 2025" collection that blends traditional Thai wisdom with contemporary aesthetics, resulting in works of refined taste and global significance.
The exhibition is running at Iconcraft Globe, 4th floor, for a full month from Friday until Aug 31.

Thai-British artist centres women in exploration of myth
The histories and relationships between women and trees are portrayed through art during "Epiphytes", which is running at Supples Gallery, until Sept 7. This is a solo exhibition by Thai-British artist Julia Phetra Oborne, who brings a series of new oil paintings that reflect her ongoing exploration of the relationships between women and trees, memory and myth and landscape and identity. Rooted in stories, memories and personal observations of woodlands and forests, the exhibition reflects the woodland as a universal and symbolic environment, familiar yet ambiguous, where the presence of the female form threads through the landscape. Both personal and symbolic, the paintings are shaped by the artist's dual Thai and British heritage. The title "Epiphytes" -- meaning plants that grow upon other plants -- considers the canvas as a site of accumulation. She builds surfaces that play host, revealing and veiling forms, through the process of mark-making and layering. The imagery is inspired by ritual, literature and myth, including the Buddhist tale of Nariphon, a tree bearing fruit in the shape of women. Like epiphytes themselves, these symbols are tethered to the surface, which becomes a space where the past and present meet and are re-examined. Oborne holds a BA in Painting from Edinburgh College of Art, University of Edinburgh. She blends myths, folklore, and autobiography in paintings that explore memory, identity and reimagined visual languages. Influenced by abstract expressionism and Southeast and East Asian imagery, her work shifts between abstraction and figuration. She has lived and worked between Bangkok and London.

Shot-in-Thailand 'Alien: Earth' drops on Aug 13 with two episodes
After teasing (and scaring) us with several teasers, we finally get official updates on 'Alien: Earth', slated to be released in Thailand on Aug 13 via Disney+ Hotstar Thailand. The new chapter of Alien, the legendary sci-fi horror franchise, will bring a battle for survival between mankind and the Xenomorphs on Earth. FX's 'Alien: Earth', the first live-action series in the Alien universe, marks the arrival of the Xenomorphs on our planet for the first time, discounting its appearances in two offshoot Alien vs Predator films. 'Alien: Earth' was created by Emmy and Peabody Award-winner Noah Hawley, with executive producers Ridley Scott (who started the franchise), David W. Zucker, Joseph Iberti, Dana Gonzales and Clayton Krueger. Alien: Earth is brought to life by FX Productions, the studio behind 2024's multi-award-winning FX's Shōgun. With all of its principal photography completed on location across Thailand, the series transforms futuristic buildings in Bangkok and natural vistas in Surat Thani, Krabi and Phang Nga into a 2120 Earth where humans, cyborgs, synthetics and hybrids fight for survival against terrifying alien threats. Set two years before the events of the first Alien film, Alien: Earth takes place during the height of the 'Corporate Era', where Earth is ruled by five mega-corporations: Prodigy, Weyland-Yutani, Lynch, Dynamic and Threshold. The game changes when Prodigy's young founder and CEO Boy Kavalier pioneers a revolutionary breakthrough, creating 'Hybrids', artificial humanoids implanted with human consciousness. The first prototype is Wendy (portrayed by Sydney Chandler), as fans have already seen in the teasers. Disaster strikes when the deep-space research vessel USCSS Maginot, owned by Weyland-Yutani, crashes on Earth forcing Wendy and a tactical team of Hybrids into a mission that leads them face-to-face with unspeakable horrors, with the Xenomorph being the deadliest. Led by Chandle, the series features an expansive international cast, including Timothy Olyphant as Kirsh (Wendy's mentor), Alex Lawther as Hermit (medic), Samuel Blenkin as Boy Kavalier and Babou Ceesay as Morrow (cyborg). The series also features a line-up of Thai talents, including Maethi 'Tayme' Thapthimthong (aka 'The White Lotus'' Gai Tok), Prinya 'Way' Intachai, Nut Devahastin na Ayudhya, Tanapol 'Nong' Chaksrida and Sahajak Boonthanakit. The highly anticipated series will debut with the first two episodes on Aug 13 at 7am on Disney+ Hotstar Thailand. A new episode from the eight-part first season will premiere on Wednesdays at the same time. Thai subtitles and Thai dubbing are available.
