'A miracle': 2-year-old recovering after falling from 15th floor apartment balcony
FOX 5 went to The Enclave apartment complex in Silver Spring and visited a family on the 15th floor — the same floor the child fell from to get a perspective of the fall the 2-year-old had taken.
"Just look over there. I don't know if he landed on the bushes. I don't know. He landed on the bushes. That's a miracle. A miracle man," said Mohamed Koroma, who allowed FOX 5 into his home. "It's really sad."
These are the bushes that apparently broke the little boy's fall. they're not much. The authorities say the boy was on the 15th floor. It's a 20-story building and around 2 p.m. on Thursday, the boy fell from the balcony.
We're told he suffered a broken leg and multiple internal injuries but nothing life-threatening. Adults were at home at the time but police say they're still investigating how the boy got over the protective glass that surrounds the balconies there.
"They must have some chairs here. The kid might've climbed over because there's no way. There must be some equipment right on the floor that the kid used to flip over," Koroma said.
Another neighbor who lives on the fifth floor of the building, says the toddler should never have been outside unsupervised.
"I feel like the children shouldn't be on the balcony, especially unattended because why are they outside? I have four children and they are not allowed on the balcony and we live on the fifth floor. So the 15th floor? That's crazy to me," mom Ty Powers said. "It's definitely a tragedy but people have got to watch their children. The baby should not have been outside on the balcony."
We're all wondering how it is possible to survive a fall of that distance. FOX 5 reached out to Children's National Hospital to ask that of a physician, who doesn't know this case but does know the laws of physics.
"I want to stress first that this is really miraculous," said Dr. Katie Donnelly, a pediatric emergency medicine doctor with Children's National. "Falls from this height are usually pretty devas
Montgomery County police say there are no charges being filed against the parents or guardians of the boy who fell at this time.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found the child conscious and in bed "with his limbs sprawled out,' according to the incident report reviewed by PEOPLE. The 3-year-old child was having trouble breathing, with injuries and swelling on the entire left side of the upper body. The child had fallen from the kitchen window, according to the report. Grandmother of man killed in Baltimore Park Heights mass shooting says he was loved
A Baltimore grandmother told WJZ she is devastated after a 38-year-old man was killed in a mass shooting in the Park Heights neighborhood on Saturday, August 9. Jerome Michael Coateson died, and five more people were injured, including a 5-year-old girl. Ronie Redmond describes her grandson, Coateson, as soft-spoken and a hard-working family man, who was a great father to his children. "Everybody loved him," Redmond said. "When I went to the hospital, all his family was outside, and there was a crowd out there, and everyone was weeping. That was the kind of person he was; everybody loved him. He never got into anything. So when everybody heard, they said, 'No, not Jerome. No, not Jerome. Somebody else.' Shocked, shocked, shocked." Redmond said she last saw Coateson hours before the shooting on Saturday, when he came over with the children. She said she raised him since he was 6 years old. Baltimore police responded around 8:45 p.m. to the area of Spaulding and Queensbury avenues, where six gunshot victims were located. Police Commissioner Richard Worley said four men, a woman, and a young child were among the victims. A group of people were sitting outside on their porch and up against a car, eating, when someone started shooting, Worley said. Police said the 5-year-old was shot in the hand and is expected to recover. Jerome Michael Coateson, 38, was found in critical condition and was pronounced dead Sunday morning. The other shooting victims, a 23-year-old woman, a 32-year-old man, a 33-year-old man, and a 52-year-old man, are expected to survive. It is not clear if Coateson was the intended target. No arrests have been made. Police are asking anyone with information to please come forward by calling them at 1-866-7LOCKUP. An $8,000 reward is being offered for information that leads to an arrest and conviction. On Monday, August 11, several Baltimore organizations walked the Park Heights neighborhood to check on the residents and hand out resources. The Mayor's Office of Neighborhood Safety & Engagement (MONSE), We Our Us, and Safe Streets were among the groups that walked from Park Heights Avenue to the intersection of Queensberry and Spaulding avenues. "We cannot tolerate people getting killed in our city. We cannot tolerate children being hurt in our city," said Brandon Wilson, who works with We Our Us. "We have to go to them where they at in their space, let them know we have jobs, we have substance abuse treatment. You don't have to stand on the corner and sell drugs or die. That's just not the way of life. So, we just offer them hope."

2 men arrested after reported fight among delivery drivers in Southeast Baltimore
Two men were arrested for attempted murder after Southeast Baltimore residents said they saw delivery drivers fight on Saturday, August 9. Baltimore Police said suspects knocked a 20-year-old man off a moped, assaulted and stabbed him on Eastern Avenue near Milton Avenue. Medics took the victim to the hospital, where he his expected to be OK. Detectives believe the assault stemmed from a stolen moped incident. With assistance from Foxtrot, Southeast District patrol officers and District Action Team officers located both suspects on Pulaski Highway near N Kresson Street. Police arrested 23-year-old Winston Rivero-Aliendo and 27-year-old Wilson Rivero-Aliendo. Both face attempted first and second-degree murder and multiple counts of assault. Officers arrested a third man at the scene on unrelated charges. Arch McKown, the vice president of the Baltimore Police Southeastern District Community Relations Council, said he spotted delivery drivers racing down Eastern Avenue. "A group of 15 or so mopeds came by," McKown said. "They were at a high rate of speed. They were probably doing at least 40 mph." When McKown approached the intersection of Eastern and Milton avenues, he saw them stopped on the road. "It looked like it was another scooter rider that somehow got in a fight, had a beef," McKown said. Now, McKown is looking toward prevention, hoping the Baltimore Police Department and other agencies crack down on illegal moped activity. "They break a lot of traffic laws, and that creates unsafe situations, especially for pedestrians," McKown said. "What we've asked BPD for is to do more targeted enforcement and sustained enforcement." A police incident report reveals a person argued with an individual on a scooter around 8:50 p.m. on Friday, August 8. The report said the victim was waiting on Boston Street near Hudson Street when some people on scooters drove next to him. Police said the man left the location, and when doing so, his moped flipped, causing him to crash. Investigators said he ran to his girlfriend at Outback Steakhouse. Detectives said footage shows a person with 'a yellow shirt and a white helmet' popping the tires of the victim's moped. The victim bruised his right arm due to the crash. Medics arrived on the scene for aid.
