‘Jaws' Turns 50: How To Watch Steven Spielberg's Classic On Streaming
Director Steven Spielberg's landmark thriller Jaws turns 50 this week. Where can you stream the film at home?
Released on June 20, 1975, Jaws came to define what became the term 'summer blockbuster,' which was followed by the release of Spielberg's friend and fellow filmmaker George Lucas' classic Star Wars in 1977.
Made all the more compelling by composer John Williams' icon theme, Jaws — which was adapted for the big screen from author Peter Benchley's bestselling novel of the same name — begins with the death of a lone swimmer (Susan Backlinie) off the shores of the fictional Amity Island on the East Coast during a vicious shark attack.
Identified as a Great White shark, the attack sends the community into a full panic after more attacks, which prompts Amity Island Police Chief Martin Brody (Roy Scheider) to take action. Along with the shark hunter who only goes by 'Quint' (Robert Shaw) and a marine biologist, Matt Hooper (Richard Dreyfuss), Brody boards Quint's vessel, the Orca, in hopes of finding and killing the deadly shark.
Since Jaws is a Universal Pictures release, Jaws will begin streaming on the NBC Universal streaming platform Peacock on Sunday, June 15.
Peacock offers two streaming plans: The ad-based Premium plan costs $7.99 per month or $79.99 per year. While the ad-free Premium Plus plan costs $13.99 per month or $139.99 per year. Jaws is also currently available to stream on AMC+, which costs $6.99 per month with ads, $9.99 per month without ads or $95.88 per year.
In addition, Jaws will be airing on NBC on Friday with a three-hour presentation, according to the network. The movie, which is set to air at 8 p.m. ET, will feature an introduction from Spielberg.
For viewers who prefer to see the film on the big screen, Jaws is scheduled to be re-released in theaters on Aug. 29 in celebration of the film's 50th anniversary.
Viewers who don't want to subscribe to Peacock or AMC+ or wait until Aug. 29 to see it in theaters have several different options to watch Jaws on streaming.
As of this publication, Prime Video has Jaws available to rent on Video on Demand for $3.79 or purchase on VOD for $7.99, while Apple TV has the film for rent for $3.99 or purchase for $7.99.
Additionally, Movies Anywhere, Fandango at Home and YouTube are also offering Jaws for rent for $3.99 or $14.99 to purchase.
Rated PG— a seemingly mild rating since the PG-13 rating wasn't introduced by the then-Motion Picture Association of America until 1984 — Jaws will also be celebrated beyond its 50th anniversary on June 20.
According to National Geographic, the new documentary Jaws @ 50: The Definitive Inside Story will begin streaming on Nat Geo channel on Thursday, July 10, on Disney+ and Hulu.
The official synopsis of the Jaws documentary reads, 'Steven Spielberg shares an authorized look inside the story of Jaws in this documentary.

As it turns out, the Air Jordan 11 'Gamma' will be released on December 13 while the Air Jordan 8 'Bugs Bunny' is scheduled to release seven days later on December 20. Advertisement On the surface this should seem like sneakerhead catnip. With so many shoes being released in 2025 by Nike, one would think this is great news. The potential of scoring the Gamma 11s and the Bugs Bunny 8s absolutely moves the sneakerhead needle. The concern is that it does not allow consumers to recover. Grails are typically what gets someone into becoming a sneakerhead to begin with. For the uninitiated, a 'Grail' (as in 'holy grail') is a shoe an individual sneakerhead puts an irrationally high value on. In many cases a shoe will have limited quantities, usually high priced, rare or hard to find. It also suggests an all consuming need to find and purchase said shoe. In either case, the Gamma 11s or the Bugs Bunny 8s are both models most sneakerheads will want to buy. With many of those millions of people viewing either or both as a personal grail. Think Captain Ahab pursuing Moby Dick. The Space Jam connection is curious. Neither shoe technically falls under a colorway from the 90s film. However, there is a connection. The Jordan 8 began an affection for Looney Tunes, which many have speculated was a test balloon for a future Warner Bros project. The ones tied to the affectionate animated rabbit is essentially the 8s white version with reds and greys throughout. The Aqua is the mostly black version. Three years later, Nike would release the Jordan 11. In the movie Space Jam, the mostly black Jordan 11s seen in that movie would take on that name. 'The Space Jam 11s'. The Gamma is not that exactly. The outsole and logo details are 'gamma blue', but the rest of it is almost the Space Jam 11s. Making this release date quandary interesting to say the least. If regular sneakerheads hope to secure these, it will be a rough November-December and they are advised to prepare for what feels like a double release or a 'pack' release. National anthem singer claims Dodgers said she couldn't perform in Spanish, but she did it anyway
Amid an ongoing, controversial push to increase immigration enforcement in Los Angeles, the woman who sang the national anthem before Saturday night's Dodgers game said she felt like she "needed" to do something different for her performance. In a post to her TikTok account Saturday night, singer Nezza tearfully explained how she decided to perform "The Star-Spangled Banner" in Spanish prior to the matchup between the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Francisco Giants. "I've sang the national anthem many times in my life. But today, out of all days, I could not," she said. Nezza said she couldn't believe it when a representative from the Dodgers told her she couldn't sing the anthem in Spanish. Ultimately, she chose to ignore the wishes of the team. "I just felt like I needed to do it," she said. "I'm proud of myself for doing that today." Production on the new 'Masters of the Universe' movie has wrapped, and to mark the occasion, star Nicholas Galitzine ('The Idea of You') offered up a first look at him in costume as He-Man, the most powerful man in the universe, who must battle the evil Skeletor in this adaptation of the Mattel toy franchise. Travis Knight, the CEO of Laika and director of the animated 'Kubo and the Two Strings' and 2018's 'Transformers' spinoff 'Bumblebee,' directed the new 'Masters of the Universe' movie from a screenplay by Chris Butler. 'Well, that's a wrap on 'Masters of the Universe.' It has been an honour shouldering the responsibility of playing Adam and He Man,' Galitzine posted on Instagram. 'It's been the role of a lifetime and I put everything into it. There's not much I can show you, but I am so proud of the movie we've made. Thanks to our amazing cast and crew for all your hard work.' The show ended two seasons and 130 episodes later, but the story of He-Man lived on.
