‘KPop Demon Hunters' Is Netflix's No. 1 Movie, 60 Days After Release

Forbes12 hours ago
I am running out of ways to describe the unprecedented success of Netflix's KPop Demon Hunters, but every time I wake up, it seems like the movie has set some new record. Today? There's two of them, and another one may happen this week. So, what now?
KPop Demon Hunters has once again become the #1 movie on Netflix, surpassing the very big hit Happy Gilmore 2 a week or so after its release. KPop Demon Hunters continues to beat its own records as now we are nearly at 60 days where the film has once again gotten to #1 after its initial release on June 20. We have never seen a movie do anything close to this on Netflix.
Additionally, new viewership numbers are in, and after those 60 days, KPop Demon Hunters has become the fourth most-watched Netflix original movie ever, rocketing onto the list as the first animated feature to make the cut. Here's the list as it stands:
Why did I put the actors in quotes for all the other movies? Because it's not just the fact that this is the first animated movie on the list, it's that almost every single other movie there stars big A-listers that Netflix viewers are more prone to check out. The single exception may be Carry-On, as I'm not sure Egerton and Bateman are as high profile, but they're certainly still recognizable).
KPop Demon Hunters has a clearly great voice (and singing) cast, led by the talented Arden Cho, there's simply no one here on the level of those other stars, even in an age when animated films constantly cast big names to try and draw in viewers. Deeply impressive.
The third record that KPop Demon Hunters may be about to set is that its fictional girl group, HUNTR/X, may be about to top the Billboard 100 chart this next week. Not only the first for a Netflix series, obviously, but it would be the first for any Kpop group, including those like BTS or Blackpink. The KPop group whose singing appears in the movie, TWICE, has seen their profile skyrocket as a result.
So, we're keeping an eye out for more records. Rarely a week goes by without one. I'm guessing we'll see sequel announcements shortly.

'I've been lucky to be here' — Travis Kelce embraces role as a veteran leader with avowal of love for the Kansas City Chiefs

'I've been lucky to be here' — Travis Kelce embraces role as a veteran leader with avowal of love for the Kansas City Chiefs originally appeared on A to Z Sports. While everyone loves to hear about Travis Kelce's love story with Taylor Swift, there's one other that the Kansas City Chiefs tight end speaks so highly of. And that happens to be the place he has called home for 13 seasons. 'I've been lucky to be here," Kelce told reporters at training camp on Wednesday. "What is this my 13th year now? I just absolutely love this organization. I love the team. I love all the coaches. I know just about every defensive coach as well as I know all of the offensive coaches and vice versa with the players and the staff in the equipment room. "I just, I have fun coming in to work every single day," he added. "And what better way to get better than to make sure we lean on each other? And if I can give somebody a word that makes them better on that specific route or doing that specific drill, man I'm here for it.' Kelce has helped Kansas City become one of the most dominant franchises in NFL history, with many saying they are the next Dynasty. And part of that is the team's work ethic, which starts with him as a veteran presence in the locker room. 'I think that gives me more juice than, than you know, than anything else is the fact that we have created this culture, we have created this machine that when you do it the right way, it works, and you get to win football games because of it," he explained. "I think that alone kind of gives you the excitement that what we're doing here is special.'This story was originally reported by A to Z Sports on Aug 7, 2025, where it first appeared.

Alicia Silverstone Shares ‘Clueless' Series Update: 'Baby Stages'

After 30 years, Alicia Silverstone wants to give Cher Horowitz the proper comeback treatment. Following the news that a series adaptation of her breakout 1995 teen movie Clueless is in development at Peacock, the Golden Globe nominee recently shared her excitement about the update, although she couldn't reveal anything. More from Deadline 'Clueless' Series Starring Alicia Silverstone In Works At Peacock Alicia Silverstone Reprises 'Clueless' Role In Super Bowl Commercial For Rakuten 'The Office' Follow-Up Series 'The Paper' Tips Hat To Past In Trailer & Sets Up Season 1 In First-Look Photos 'I'm really excited about it,' she said on Today. 'I think we're going to try really hard. The goal is to make it honor what everyone loves about Clueless and Cher.' Silverstone continued, 'So we want to honor that, but also bring something fresh and new to it. I'm confident that we'll be able to do that, but we're in baby stages right now.' Inspired by Jane Austen's 1815 novel Emma, Silverstone starred in the Amy Heckerling-written/directed Clueless as wealthy Beverly Hills teen Cher Horowitz, who sets up two lonely teachers and gives a new student a makeover in her mission to do good deeds, all while navigating her own love life. In April, Deadline reported that a TV series adaptation was in the works at Peacock with Silverstone attached to reprise her role as Cher and executive produce. It is written and executive produced by Gossip Girl duo Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage of Fake Empire and Dollface creator Jordan Weiss, with Heckerling and the 1995 film's producer Robert Lawrence also executive producing the series, from CBS Studios in association with Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group. Silverstone got high marks from fans after reprising her Clueless character in a Super Bowl ad for Rakuten two years ago.
