Kaizer Chiefs set to show fan favourite the door?

The South African19 hours ago

Kaizer Chiefs are working on revamping their squad ahead of a potentially busy 2025/26 season with a continental charge.
Despite losing out on a top eight finish last season, Chiefs still qualified for the CAF Confederation Cup.
This came courtesy of their 2-1 victory over arch rivals Orlando Pirates in the Nedbank Cup final. That also earned Chiefs their first trophy since 2015. Now both of those feats will necessitate change in the playing squad. The punished on some for a lack of quality which led to a lack of contribution. But also them having to make way for a better quality due to a higher level required on the continent.
There have been quite a few rumours with regards to who Chiefs are targeting. But before those players come in, they're moving quickly to free up some space. Last week, they announced the departures of academy products Sabelo Radebe and Njabulo Blom. Following that, they have also confirmed the release of striker Ranga Chivaviro.
Now according to Soccer-Laduma , midfielder Samkelo Zwane could be next out the door at Chiefs on loan.
'Soccer Laduma understands that the central midfield is a key department that Nabi wants to bolster and this could have a negative effect on Samkelo Zwane, who did not get much game time in the past season. With new faces expected to join (Chiefs), competition for Zwane will be even harder. Soccer Laduma understands Zwane's camp will meet up with management at Naturena to get some clarity on whether the player fits into the plans of the technical team. While the player is determined to fight for a spot in the team, his camp is aware of what not getting regular game time can do to his career.' Wrote the publication.

Kaizer Chiefs news: Another Congolese attacker

In the past three seasons, Kaizer Chiefs have signed two attacking players from the Democratic Republic of Congo. It started with the striker/winger Christian Saile, and then in January by the lanky winger Glody Lilepo. According to this new report, Kaizer Chiefs now have eyes on a Congolese attacking midfielder named Maxi Ngenzeli from Young Africans in Tanzania. Ngenzeli will not be new to coach Nasreddine Nabi. The Tunisian mentor fine-tuned the goal-scoring midfielder in the 2021/22 season at Yanga. New Orlando Pirates winger: 'I can attack and I can defend' 'At the moment the club has not yet signed some of the players who they want nor those they are looking at,' an insider told Soccer Laduma . 'It's believed that they are spreading the search wide so that they can get the kind of players they really need this season. 'Apparently, Maxwell Nzengeli is one player they are also looking at. Coach Nabi knows him already, and the scouts and recruiters are also believed to have liked him and are looking at the possibility of getting him, depending on the conditions around the transfer. Two PSL clubs in for Sundowns outcast 'The players are expected to return to the club for pre-season training at the end of the month so that they can prepare for the trip to Holland and the team is working hard to have new signings available for the European trip. 'So it's believed that by the first week of July, most of the new signings will be unveiled,' the source added. Chiefs news: Two-year extension given, starlet pushes for exit

Kaizer Chiefs have reportedly offered veteran midfielder Sibongiseni Mthethwa a two-year extension, keeping him at the club until 2028. 'The club has already taken the initiative to keep the midfielder for two more years,' a source said. 'The talks are believed to have started before the end of the season. But apparently things are looking good. It will all now depend on what both parties are looking at. But the talks are open.' Another source reaffirmed Chiefs' desire, saying, 'Yes, he didn't start well under coach Nasreddine Nabi. We think he didn't understand him. But now they [Kaizer Chiefs] are happy with him and that's why they are offering him a two-year deal.' 'If all goes well and they agree on new terms it will start from next year until June 2028.' Remaining in Chiefs' midfielding department, youngster Samkelo Zwane, who struggled for minutes last season amassing just thirteen appearances, is being linked with a loan move for the next campaign in a bid to play regular first team football. Zwane's agents are said to be holding talks with Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi over the 23-year-old's future, however, an inside source has disputed this, saying, 'I don't know about any AmaZulu interest but the boy needs game time. The way I see it right now is that he is going nowhere, as things stand,' a source close to the player told this publication. Kaizer Chiefs not interested in signing Percy Tau

NOT INTERESTED Kaizer Chiefs are reportedly not interested in signing Percy Tau despite his openness to a R450k monthly salary, citing strategic team plans. Picture: BackpagePix In the explosive chat, Marawa acting as hypothetical Chiefs management said: "I offer you R450,000 a month. Do you accept?" Following a revealing Percy Tau interview with Robert Marawa on 94.7 on Wednesday when the player said he would be open to being offered a R450k salary per month at Kaizer Chiefs , a new report reveals that the Soweto Giants may not be interested in the forward. Kaizer Chiefs' Interest in Percy Tau: Uncertainty Surrounds Transfer Rumours It seemed then all but confirmed that Chiefs would be ready to sign the player. However, a Soccer Laduma report quoting an undisclosed source seemed to indicate the opposite. "We hope most people listened to that interview and they heard what Percy Tau said,' the source said. 'It wasn't (just) about Chiefs. It's believed that the club is not interested in him. And again it's not about the R450k salary or the two-year salary. It's about what Chiefs' football department and the technical team are looking at for their plans and the players they are looking at and at the moment Percy Tau is not that player. 'Apparently he is not better than what Khama Billiat and Keagan Dolly were at the same stage when they signed them. Chiefs want to avoid making the same mistakes they did in the past.' Last week, Chiefs announced the departure of Chivaviro, who has left the club with immediate effect. The forward joined Chiefs in June 2023, and the club chose not to extend his two-year contract. In total, Chivaviro has made 45 appearances for Chiefs while scoring nine goals. Chivaviro did not reach his full potential with Chiefs, as he struggled with injury during the 2023/2024 season. Chiefs completed another deflating season in the Betway Premiership as they ended ninth, their second league campaign in a row in which they finished outside the top eight. @Michael_Sherman IOL Sport
