Yogi Adityanath warns of public shaming for those defaming Kanwar Yatra, urges kanwariyas not to take law into their own hands
CM Adityanath issued a warning against any attempts to defame the Kanwar Yatra, both in person and on social media. He said strict action would be taken against those who create disturbances during the yatra. Following the event, those caught causing trouble will be publicly shamed through posters, he said.
He also asked kanwar groups to identify such people amidst them and hand them over to police. 'In case any miscreant tries to tarnish the Kanwar yatra, then instead of taking law into your own hands, you should approach the administration,' said Adityanath.
'If any one takes route of ruckus to defame Kanwar Yatra, then we have CCTV footage of all of them. After the Kanwar Yatra is complete, their posters will be displayed,' Adityanath told the gathering in Meerut.
'It is the responsibility of kanwar associations as well to expose such people who are trying to defame Kanwar Yatra and create ruckus. Distance yourself from such people. Do not allow them to be part of your group and inform the administration about them,' said Adityanath.
Telling kanwariyas that Lord Shiva is the God of 'Lok Mangal' (public welfare), he urged them to also try to understand the problems of others.
The alleged assault on CRPF jawan came to light after a video emerged on social media. The police identified the CRPF jawan by only his first name, Gautam.
According to the police, Gautam had come home on leave and was at the station to board the Brahmaputra Express for Manipur, where he is currently posted. He was with his minor son, based on whose complaint the FIR against the accused was filed.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Sunday announced that the Delhi government will distribute containers filled with Ganga water and jute bags to nearly five lakh Kanwariyas to promote environmental protection. Welcome gates have also been installed at all Delhi borders to provide a warm reception and improved facilities for the devotees. Ms. Gupta said that only 170 camps were set up under the previous government, and many of them faced allegations of mismanagement. Lucknow: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday said that some people are trying to defame Kanwar Yatra and Shiv devotees and said that such troublemakers will be exposed and dealt with sternly.
