Double decker bus roof ripped off after crashing into railway bridge in London
A bus roof was peeled off like a tin of tuna after it crashed into a railway bridge in south London.
The bus hit the bridge on the A215 Portland Road this afternoon after the driver misjudged the height of the railway bridge.
The crash forced the busy road to close near the high street and the Norwood Junction station ahead of the school run.
The vehicle was operating as part of a learner driver's lesson, it is understood, suggesting that it was mostly empty when the crash happened.
Footage shows how the bottom half of the bus managed to slip under the bridge, while the roof was peeled back, leaving the structure hanging at the back near other cars tailing the bus.
Comedian Elliot Steel posted a clip of the unlucky bus, asking 'reckon he'll get the job?'
Another person quipped on X: 'You can't park there sir.' More Trending
London Overground, Southern and Thameslink services ground to a halt after the incident, with lines closed momentarily until the railway lines reopened.
However, trains between London Victoria, Croydon, Surrey and Islington could be delayed by up to 15 minutes as service recovers.
The crash was reported at about 12.30pm and the stretch of the road between Manor Road and the A213 High Street remains closed.
Bus routes 130 and 197 have been diverted.
Here are the train routes, which are expected to be disrupted until 3pm. London Overground between West Croydon and Highbury & Islington
Southern between Caterham / Epsom and London Bridge, and also between West Croydon and London Victoria
Thameslink between Brighton / Three Bridges and Bedford, between Horsham and Peterborough, and also between Brighton and Cambridge

Nickelodeon star files for divorce after 4 years of marriage
Former Nickelodeon star Drake Bell has reportedly filed for divorce after four years of marriage. The Drake and Josh star, 39, dated actress and model Janet Von Schmeling for five years before getting married in 2018. During their four-year marriage, Bell and Schmeling had son Wyatt together, born in 2021. In 2023, she filed for divorce, citing 'irreconcilable differences.' According to TMZ at the time, she requested legal and physical custody of their son, as well as spousal support and visitation rights for Bell. The publication suggests that there was 'no movement' in the case until last year, when the court reportedly requested both parties to meet to expedite proceedings. TMZ claim that Bell has filed for divorce himself, putting in his own petition from Florida. The couple are said to have been separated since 2022. According to Bell, he first found out that his wife planned to divorce him via social media. When the news broke on TMZ in 2023, he tweeted: 'I found out my wife filed for divorce from TMZ…check out my new song.' This came only a week after he had been reported missing and 'endangered' by Daytona Beach Police. Hours later, a spokesperson told 'At this time we can confirm law enforcement officials are in contact and Mr Bell is safe.' The Orange County Sheriff's Office added that the actor had been found in their jurisdiction 'unharmed' at around 11.30am, and deputies had taken action to make sure he received a 'mental health evaluation'. Bell joked about the situation afterwards, Tweeting: 'You leave your phone in the car and don't answer for the night and this?' Bell has experienced a troubled personal life since leaving Nickelodeon. In 2021, he was accused of having inappropriate conversations with a 15-year-old online that were sexual in nature. During the subsequent hearing, the actor pleaded guilty to the attempted endangerment of children, a fourth-degree felony, and disseminating matter harmful to juveniles, a first-degree misdemeanour. After someone on social media branded him a sex offender, Bell responded: 'Do a second of research. This is what I have to live with everyday. They are literally going to kill me.' In another tweet, he added: 'In a separate tweet he added: 'Noooo Immmm Nooooooottttt [a paedophile]!!!! You people are going to kill me.' He went on to tell another user: 'Nooooo I wasn't!! You people are destroying my life.' Last year, the former child star came forward to allege that he was himself a victim of sexual abuse by dialogue coach and now-convicted sex offender Brian Peck. In the Investigation Discovery series Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV,Bell claimed that he had been 15 years old when the abuse happened. Peck worked as a dialogue coach on Nickelodeon's The Amanda Show, which Bell had starred in from 1999 to 2002. To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video In August 2003, Peck was arrested on more than a dozen charges related to sexual abuse allegations involving an unnamed minor. More Trending The following year he pleaded no contest to performing a lewd act with a 14 or 15-year-old and to oral copulation with a minor under 16. He was sentenced to 16 months in prison and ordered to register as a sex offender. View More » has reached out to Drake Bell's representatives for comment. Got a story? Clarkson's Farm's Kaleb Cooper handles becoming dad again in hilariously 'farmer
If four seasons of Clarkson's Farm have taught us anything, it's that farmers are an unflappable bunch. Even in the face of declining harvests, biblical floods, and Jeremy Clarkson's innovative (and by innovative we mean calamitous) farming techniques, nothing gets them down. It's perhaps unsurprising then that Kaleb Cooper – Jeremy's right-hand man and farm manager – remained incredibly cool-headed while his wife went into labour with their third child. Jeremy told the story in his column for The Sun, writing: 'The boy wonder Kaleb Cooper, who manages my farm, received word this week that his wife was in labour. ''Right,' he said. 'I'll be there when I've finished harvesting this field.' 'How farmerish is that?!?!' To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video According to Jeremy, once he'd finished the harvest, Kaleb's attention turned to naming the newborn. One of their friends supposedly thought it would be a good idea to name the kid after the field that Kaleb had been harvesting when the news came through. As nice an idea as this was, Jeremy did point out one flaw: 'the field was called Deadman.' Yeah… maybe not. The news that Kaleb has welcomed his third child will come as sweet relief to the hard workers on Diddly Squat Farm, which has been his by repeated disasters in recent months. In July, Jeremy revealed that one of his cows had tested positive for TB, which meant they had to quarantine the cattle farm and one of their newborn puppies passed away. More Trending Following that, the 65-year-old revealed that the harvest this year had been catastrophically bad. Finally, the former Top Gear host turned farming advocate revealed filming on Clarkson's Farm had been disrupted by JD Vance's visit to the Cotswolds. Still, the bad news didn't stop Jeremy from celebrating A-Level results day with his annual tweet telling students not to worry about their results, as his were bad and he now has a helicopter pad.
