Biggest gin and rum festival in Britain returns to Glasgow with drinks and music on offer
Glasgow is gearing up for a weekend of spirited celebration as the UK's biggest touring Gin and Rum Festival returns to the city later this month.
Set to take over the iconic Briggait venue on Friday, August 29, and Saturday, August 30, the event promises a vibrant showcase of over 120 gins, rums, and tequilas for enthusiasts and casual drinkers alike.
Now in its seventh year, the Gin and Rum Festival has earned a reputation as the nation's largest and most beloved touring festival dedicated entirely to these popular spirits, Glasgow Live reports.
The organisers describe it as 'an unforgettable experience,' inviting visitors to explore the world of gin and rum like never before.
'Whether you're a seasoned spirit lover or simply up for a memorable night out with friends, this is your chance to explore Gin & Rum like never before,' they said.
Beyond the vast selection of spirits, the festival will feature a cocktail bar specialising in gin, rum, and tequila-based cocktails, live music including DJs and a band, plus immersive brand experiences designed to engage visitors throughout the event.
Each ticket includes a free Gin and Rum guide, a reusable stainless steel cup and straw, and a complimentary drink upon exit, thoughtful additions aimed at enhancing the experience while encouraging sustainability.
With recent concerns following the collapse of a similar touring festival, the organisers have reassured ticket buyers that their money is safe.

The Briggait, located at 141 Bridgegate in Glasgow city centre, provides an atmospheric and easily accessible setting for the festival.

Extra Edinburgh trains for Oasis fans as thousands ready for Murrayfield reunion

When the concert ends, fans are encouraged to make their way promptly to Haymarket station. A holding area will be in place on Haymarket Terrace to manage crowds. Strictly Come Dancing's Gorka Marquez pulls out of show as fans left devastated
The Strictly Come Dancing fan favourite took to Instagram to make a huge career announcement. Strictly Come Dancing star, Gorka Marquez, has revealed that he won't be competing with a partner on the BBC show this year. The professional dancer, 34, will also be missing for a number of weeks from the series. Gorka, who has been a staple on Strictly since he joined the cast back in 2016, will now be taking a step back from the series but fans don't need to get too disappointed as the star is set to return towards the final. Announcing the news in an Instagram post to his 973k followers, Gorka revealed that he'll be taking on a role as a judge on the Spanish version of the show instead from September onwards. He took to Instagram to announce the news, writing: "I am happy to announce that I will be back for season two of BAILANDO CON LAS ESTRELLAS as a judge from September." Explaining why there will be a change in his role on Strictly this year, he added: "Due to the filming dates this means that I won't be competing with a partner this year in Strictly but I will be a part of lots of the group numbers and will be back for final weeks of the Show to support the rest of my fellow pros and their celebrities in what is going to be an AMAZING SERIES." Gorka concluded the post by thanking fans for all of "the love and support" as he added:"And remember! Keep dancing!!!" Fans raced to the comments section as they reacted to the news. More info A loving West Lothian couple has celebrated a special 65 years of marriage. Colin and Margaret Bailey marked their Blue Sapphire Wedding Anniversary with the help of staff at Heathfield Nursing Home in Armadale. Margaret recently became a resident at the nursing home while Colin still lives at home nearby. The couple were married back on August 5, 1960 in the town's East Church by a relative of Margaret's who carried out the ceremony. She recalled: 'I enjoyed my wedding day, the church was lovely, the minister that married us was actually my brother-in-law.' The couple went on to have three children, all boys, reports the Daily Record. Margaret, 84, just moved into Heathfield in July but the couple are still almost inseparable, with Colin visiting every day and often staying for dinner. The anniversary party saw activities staff at the nursing home in Armadale's Bathgate Road decorate the lounge area with photos scanned from Colin and Margaret's wedding album along with some sapphire blue-coloured decorations. He arrived first thing, bearing gifts for his beloved wife. Margaret gifted Colin a new wedding ring which she lovingly slid onto his finger, and he returned the gesture by presenting her with a stunning sapphire eternity ring. Margaret continued: 'I just love everything about him, I remember walking to church together every Sunday morning. We would always fall out on the way home because he didn't share my faith. We laugh about it now.' They spent the morning reminiscing about their 65 years of marriage with staff before celebrating in style by attending a party with the rest of the residents at the home. The pair enjoyed a live performance from local singer Lauren Kyle and Margaret commandeered the microphone at times to sing a song or two herself. Margaret added: 'I was surprised that Colin enjoyed the concert so much, he doesn't normally care for music. We had a lovely day together, he looked so handsome, like a young man again. We enjoyed the whole day, staff did a wonderful job'. Roz Smith from the Activities Team at the nursing home, said: 'The lounge had been set up by activities staff to host a romantic evening meal, allowing the couple to spend the evening together in privacy. Colin had requested homemade stew while Margaret requested whiskey which we were happy to honor. They rounded off the day of celebration by cutting a cake together.' It's estimated that less than 16 marriages out of every 100 reach the 65-year Blue Sapphire Anniversary milestone, so what does Margaret think the key is to longevity. 'If you want a long lasting marriage, I advise that you try not to fall out over silly things,' she said. 'It's easy to fall out, but much harder to fall back in. Love each other fiercely, always'.
