Bixie Short Hair Style for Summer 2025
But why is it the cut of summer 2025? Well, the flirty fusion of a style, the bixie is low-maintenance, high-impact, and is the epitome of an "I woke up like this" haircut. Plus, the shorter length helps beat the heat while still offering enough shape for versatile styling. Whether worn tousled and beachy or sleek and polished, the bixie is super customizable.
Don't just take my word for it, though. To really understand what defines the cut, as well as who it's best suited to and how to style it, we tapped the brilliant brain of Tom Smith, hairstylist, trend forecaster, and Cosmopolitan contributing expert, who, below, breaks down the buzz.
The more time passes, the more convoluted hairstyle names get; from Italian bobs and French bobs to shags and even wolf cuts (confusing, much?!). The bixie, however, is simpler than you would think, combining the best of the bob and pixie.
"The bixie is a grown-out pixie shape that is not quite a bob but has enough length to frame the face," Tom says. "A fusion of a pixie cut and a bob, the shape offers the texture and head-hugging nature of a short pixie cut, while the extra length allows the shape to frame the face similar to a bob without the characteristic squareness of a traditional bob shape."
So, just think of it as a pixie cut, circa two months post-snip!
The bixie is a soft cut with rounded edges, so it can work really well on those with more angular, square face shapes. That said, as Tom explains, there is more versatility because of its length; "There's more to play with rather than a traditional pixie."
"It can also be a great option for those with thicker hair who struggle with bob shapes looking too 'mushroomy', as this shape evenly distributes the thickness of the hair," Tom says.
Overall, there are perks to the bixie for all hair types. "Fine and flat hair can be given more body with this shape, wavy and curly hair will get much more lift and volume, while textured hair will sit more angular in this shape, flatter on the sides, lower at the nape, and fully on the top," says Tom. Tick, tick, ticks across the board!
Good news! Tom shares that a well-cut bixie should fall into shape easily with minimal styling. *Snoozes alarm for an extra 10 minutes in bed*
"For definition and texture, you can enhance your bixie with soft pomades or wax sprays," says Tom. And those with straight hair types looking for a bit of grit can add soft bends and waves into strands with a straightener or a curling wand.

Paris unveils mural of Josephine Baker to honor her legacy
PARIS (AP) — Paris is reviving the spirit of U.S.-French entertainer and civil rights activist Josephine Baker with a new mural. Fifty years after her death, Baker now gazes out over a diverse neighborhood of northeast Paris, thanks to urban artist FKDL and a street art festival aimed at promoting community spirit. Born in St. Louis, Missouri, Baker became a megastar in the 1930s, especially in France, where she moved in 1925 as she sought to flee racism and segregation in the United States. In addition to her stage fame, Baker also spied on the Nazis for the French Resistance and marched alongside Martin Luther King Jr. in Washington. She died in Paris in 1975. ''I feel moved and I feel happy, because this is part of a memory of my mother,' her son Brian Baker told the Associated Press at the unveiling of the mural Saturday. He was one of 12 children Josephine Baker adopted from around the world that she called her ″rainbow tribe″ and what her son called ''a little United Nations.″ The mural of Baker, meant to symbolize freedom and resistance, is among several painted in recent days in the neighborhood and organized by the association Paris Colors Ourq. The artist FKDL said he focuses on ''bringing women back into the urban landscape.' 'Josephine Baker has always been, for me, a somewhat iconic figure of that era. Both wild and free-spirited, but also deeply connected to music, musicals, and dance,″ he said. ''She was an extraordinary character, an incredible woman.' Baker was the first Black woman inducted into France's Pantheon, joining such luminaries as philosopher Voltaire, scientist Marie Curie and writer Victor Hugo. ''My mother wouldn't have liked words like iconic, star, or celebrity. She would have said, no, no let's keep it simple,″ her son said.

Jackpot won on music knowledge game show The Hit List for first time
A father and son team have become the first contestants to win the full £10,000 jackpot on game show The Hit List. More than 250 pairs of contestants have attempted to win the top prize on the BBC One show, but it is now only in series eight, which launches on Saturday, that this has been done. The Hit List sees contestants hear excerpts of music and they have to name the song and the artist who sang it. In the show's endgame, the prize money starts to drop after five seconds of music so the longer contestants take to answer, the less money they make. Contestants are also allowed to skip to a new song. Contestants Paul, 61, and Tom, 26, from Liverpool, managed to get every one of the endgame's 10 songs right within five seconds and so scooped the full prize on offer. Tom, an events and marketing coordinator, said: 'We've been watching The Hit List for years, this was our third time applying to be on the show, and it was third time lucky. 'We always knew that we'd go on together, as you need knowledge of music spanning all decades. 'The two teams we were competing with were incredible, I couldn't believe when we go through to the final round, the adrenaline was immense and obviously over the moon with the result.' The show, which began in 2019, is hosted by husband and wife presenting duo, Rochelle Humes and Marvin Humes. Marvin said: 'I was starting to believe that it couldn't be done, but they came and proved us wrong, after seven years I've seen so many attempts. 'Tom and Paul were so in sync from the start I knew we were on to something special.' Viewers can watch all available episodes of The Hit List on BBC iPlayer.
