'120 Bahadur' actor Farhan Akhtar opens up about his acting hiatus; says he take films seriously

hasn't appeared on the big screen as an actor for some time. His last acting role was in the 2021 film 'Toofaan', after which he concentrated on producing movies through his production company, Excel Entertainment.
However, during the teaser launch of '120 Bahadur', Farhan opened up about the reasons behind his long break from acting.
Taking films seriously: Farhan's selective approach
Speaking to News18, Farhan spoke about coming back to the big screen, and said that he takes films very seriously and always tries to give the audience more than just entertainment. While entertainment is important as part of the theatre experience and the sense of community of watching something together, he feels there has to be something more than that.
He admitted he could be called fussy, for lack of a better word, and that he waited for the right project to come along.
A defining moment with 'Bhaag Milkha Bhaag'
Farhan mentioned that the last time he truly felt compelled to tell a story was when Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra approached him with 'Bhaag Milkha Bhaag', the 2013 biopic in which he played the role of the legendary Milkha Singh. That film became a major box office success and marked a significant turning point in his career.

About '120 Bahadur'
'120 Bahadur' recounts the extraordinary true tale of 120 Indian soldiers who valiantly defended their post during the 1962 Battle of Rezang La—an event hailed as one of the greatest last stands in India's military history. Directed by Razneesh 'Razy' Ghai and produced by Ritesh Sidhwani, Farhan Akhtar and Amit Chandrra, this Excel Entertainment project is set to hit cinemas on November 21, 2025.
Upcoming project: 'Don 3' and rumored cameo
Apart from this, Farhan is set to direct 'Don 3' featuring Ranveer Singh as the lead character. There are circulating rumours that the original Don, Shah Rukh Khan, could make a special cameo appearance in the movie.
