
Hamdan bin Zayed visits 21st Liwa Date Festival
His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed highlighted the continued support of the President, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, toward efforts that safeguard Emirati culture and promote agricultural sustainability.
During the visit, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed praised the festival's role in showcasing the cultural and agricultural significance of the palm tree as a symbol of national identity and in supporting local communities in Abu Dhabi, in line with the aspirations of the UAE Year of Community.
His Highness underscored the festival's importance in empowering the local community, supporting farmers, and encouraging the cultivation of palm trees as a pillar of food security, and a key component of the UAE's heritage. He also commended the active participation of government and private entities, producers, manufacturers, and traditional craftswomen, highlighting Emirati traditions and promoting palm-related products.
He toured the festival pavilions, reviewed entries in various competitions, met with judging committees for both the date and fruit competitions, and visited sections featuring heritage crafts, palm saplings, agricultural tools, a fresh dates market, the traditional souq, and displays from government and private sector organisations.

Tawazun to lead UAE Pavilion at IDEF 2025 in Türkiye
ABU DHABI (WAM) The United Arab Emirates is set to take part with a fully integrated national pavilion at the 17th edition of the International Defence Industry Fair (IDEF 2025), to be held in Istanbul, Türkiye, from July 22 to 27, 2025. This participation embodies the UAE's sovereign vision to develop a cutting-edge national defence sector, led by specialist institutions with the expertise to advance industrial capability. The national pavilion will be overseen by Tawazun Council for Defence Enablement (Tawazun), in line with its central role in supporting local defence industries and enhancing their global competitiveness. The UAE Pavilion will host a number of leading national companies operating in the defence and technology sectors, including EDGE Group, Calidus, and Capital Events — the latter showcasing ongoing preparations for the 2027 editions of the IDEX and NAVDEX exhibitions. Also taking a central role is Tawazun Industrial Park (TIP), which will highlight its strategic expansion plans aimed at developing an advanced and enabling industrial ecosystem. TIP will also present its capabilities as a national platform for attracting defence-related industrial investment and high-tech manufacturers, reinforcing the UAE's position as a leading industrial hub in the region. UAE, USA sign joint statement of intent to accelerate patent grant procedures
20 July 2025 13:16 GENEVA (WAM)The United Arab Emirates and the United States of America signed a joint statement of intent aimed at launching a bilateral cooperation programme to accelerate patent granting procedures in the signing took place on the sidelines of the 66th Assemblies of the Member States of the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) in to the joint statement, signed by the UAE Ministry of Economy and Tourism and the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), the programme provides collaborative mechanisms to recognise positive examination results issued by the USPTO for corresponding Emirati patent applications. Liwa Date Festival attracts over 50,000 visitors in 5 days
