Baglietto Unveils New Superyacht Concept
What do you get when an Italian shipyard with over 165 years of shipbuilding heritage, a highly experienced Italian yacht designer, and an award-winning, NYC-based design studio that's known for creating distinctive residences, resorts, retail and workspaces throughout the world, announce a new creative partnership? The answer: The Vesta 56 superyacht concept the Baglietto shipyard just unveiled that features elegant exteriors designed by Enrico Gobbi Team for Design and a contemporary interior design by Meyer Davis.
For me, one of the cool things about this concept is the way the yachting establishment—Baglietto and the Enrico Gobbi Team for Design—have embraced the fresh ideas that Meyer Davis (relative newcomers to the yachting space that are fresh off their successful debut yacht interior design Seawolf X) brings to the project.
Here is the Meyer Davis-designed interior of the Vesta 56 superyacht Baglietto just unveiled
'Vesta 56 is the expression of our philosophy says Fabio Ermetto, CCO of Baglietto. 'With Enrico Gobbiʼs elegant exterior lines and the fresh, sophisticated vision of Meyer Davis, we are creating something extraordinary—an experience that speaks to beauty, innovation, and balance. We're proud to collaborate with design firms that share our passion for timeless yet contemporary style.ˮ
The yacht's slender vibe is thanks to design details like ultra-thin aft deck overhangs and long runs of uninterrupted windows that are inspired by aeronautical design. In fact, according to early reports, the intent was to create a yacht defined by 'lines in movement', a sense of continuous flow and energy, even when the yacht is at anchor.

'The 56 meter Baglietto is characterized by a captivating design, generous spaces, and a sleek and dynamic profile,"says Enrico Gobbi. "The project brief requested for large and comfortable exterior and interior areas, without compromising the aesthetics of the yacht. For this reason, dynamic and stretched lines were chosen to reach the perfect balance between generous volumes and an elegant streamlined profile.'
The interplay between exterior and interior is obviously at the center of the design philosophy. The windows are particularly tall to provide panoramic views, while sharp, sculpted elements mix with soft curves to create a distinctive exterior.

Meanwhile Meyer Davis presents an interior design that they say is less about spectacle and more about sensation—a place not just to explore the world, but to feel at home in it. 'We were inspired by the name Vesta 56 for its rich symbolism," says Gray Davis, Co-Founder of Meyer Davis. "The quiet strength of home. The comfort of sanctuary. And the enduring presence of spaces designed not just for living, but for feeling truly at home. Each material, curve, and proportion is imbued with intention to reflect that spirit. The interiors have a quiet strength that marks each space with meaning and memory.'

Signature spaces such as the main deck salon, dining room, and upper lounge are designed to nurture connection and comfort. Retractable glass walls are designed to blur the threshold between inside and outside. While architectural lighting and curved built-in furniture capture the changing light that is inherent onboard yachts of this size.

'Embracing organic form, personal layers, and lived-in elegance, we designed the yacht to age gracefully, accumulating stories as it travels' says Will Meyer, Co-Founder of Meyer Davis.
Amen to that.

New Range Rover, Jaguar electric cars delayed amid tepid EV market, report says
LONDON— Jaguar Land Rover has postponed the launch of its full-electric Range Rover and new-generation Jaguar electric cars, a report said. JLR is delaying the models to allow time for more testing and for EV demand to pick up, the Guardian newspaper reported, citing sources familiar with the matter. Deliveries of the Range Rover Electric will not start until next year, the paper said. The SUV was due to arrive in showrooms at the end of this year after its original 2024 launch was delayed when JLR slowed the pace of its EV push because of lower demand for high-end electric cars. Sign up for the Automotive News Europe Cars & Concepts newsletter, which covers the biggest moves in Europe's product market. The launches of two planned Jaguar electric cars may also be pushed back by several months compared with original plans, the Guardian said. JLR is pivoting its Jaguar marque to be all-electric and had planned to launch the first of its new-generation EVs in late summer 2026. The first Jaguar electric car under its rebrand, prviwed by the Type 00, is now set for August 2026, the Guardian quoted a source as saying. The second Jaguar model would follow in December 2027. A smaller electric Range Rover expected to replace the Velar and due in April 2026 could also be delayed and a Defender Sport electric SUV will not arrive until the first quarter of 2027, the paper said. JLR has said it's happy to delay EVs if it means getting them right. 'We're not going to rush that transition, we are going to nail it,' CEO Adrian Mardell said during an investor day June 16. Unusually the company didn't give an update to analysts on timings for its electric vehicles, except to say that the first electrified Freelander launched in co-operation with its Chinese partner Chery would arrive in the second half of 2026. JLR has said it has a waiting list of more than 60,000 for the Range Rover Electric. JLR has warned that its profitability will be hit this year by headwinds such as President Donald Trump's high tariffs on auto imports and a weaker dollar that makes its vehicles more expensive in the U.S., its biggest market. Its sales in China have also been hit as Chinese consumers increasingly choose domestic luxury cars instead of Western premium brands. The company said on July 17 it is cutting 500 management jobs. Tesla reportedly puts IT executive in charge of North American sales
-- Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) has appointed Raj Jegannathan, a senior information technology executive, in charge of its sales team as the electric vehicle maker faces declining demand, according to a Reuters report late Friday. Jegannathan, who oversees various IT and data functions at Tesla, recently assumed the sales role following the departure of Troy Jones, Tesla's former top sales executive in North America who left the company earlier this month after 15 years of service. Despite having no traditional sales experience based on his LinkedIn profile and reports from inside the company, Jegannathan has recently developed a closer relationship with CEO Elon Musk. It remains unclear whether his appointment to the sales position is temporary. The leadership change comes at a challenging time for Tesla, which has experienced a sharp drop in demand for its vehicles in Europe and North America. The company's quarterly sales fell 13% in its most recent quarter, reaching their lowest level in nearly three years. This sales decline has been attributed to several factors, including negative reaction to Musk's political statements, Tesla's aging vehicle lineup, and increased competition from rivals offering more affordable electric vehicle options. UK motorists call for SUV regulations amid safety concerns
A recent survey by Startline Used Car Tracker has indicated that more than one-third of UK drivers think the number of SUVs on the road is excessive. The July report reveals that 35% of respondents call for new rules to ensure safer SUV designs while 18% believe the automotive sector should prioritise promoting alternatives to SUVs. Furthermore, 21% support increased taxation on SUVs due to their potential safety hazards, 19% propose limiting their use in areas with high pedestrian traffic, and 10% perceive SUV drivers as less cautious compared to those driving other vehicles. Conversely, 32% argue that individuals should have the right to choose their preferred vehicle, including SUVs. This survey was prompted by research showing a 44% greater risk of fatality for adults and an 82% greater risk for children when hit by an SUV compared to a conventional car. Startline Motor Finance CEO Paul Burgess said: 'SUVs have become the usual choice for most drivers in the UK who tend to like their higher seating position, adaptability for family life, and their go-anywhere image. 'However, our research shows there is a significant minority of people who are concerned about the increased safety risks that they bring, especially when it comes to pedestrians surviving impacts. 'It would probably be premature to say that there is a backlash against SUVs, but there's clearly a high degree of unease about how common they have become on our roads.' Earlier this month, July's Startline Used Car Tracker revealed that 34% wouldn't feel safe riding in a driverless car, and 26% feel they will never be as safe as a human driver. According to the findings, 49% agree with a recent government decision to delay trials until 2027, and 29% feel it is also too early.
