Report: Nets among most likely teams to trade up in 2025 NBA Draft
The Brooklyn Nets are less than one month away from making some important decisions in the 2025 NBA Draft pertaining to the players that they select with those picks. Brooklyn has five picks in the upcoming Draft, including four in the first round, and while they are doing as much homework on the class as possible, they could be looking for other deals at the same time.
The Nets, among other teams, have been "mentioned by rival executives as teams to monitor for potential trades up into the late lottery," according to NBA insider Jake Fischer in his article for The Stein Line. This report follows others made by Fischer in which other teams around the league expect Brooklyn to be one of the teams to shake things up in some way.

NetsDaily recently reported that the Nets may use forward Cam Johnson and the 19th overall pick to get a second Lottery pick. What that means in practice remains to be seen given that the implication is for Brooklyn to get a Lottery pick that is close to No. 8 if not better. Prior to NetsDaily's report, Brian Lewis of the New York Post relayed that the Nets may use Johnson to get their desired outcome.
Ultimately, there is still plenty of time between the writing of this article and when the Draft begins on June 25 so whether Brooklyn is able to pull off a Draft trade remains to be seen. NetsDaily reported that the Nets are targeting the 10th overall pick, owned by the Houston Rockets, or the ninth overall pick, which is in possession of the Toronto Raptors.
NetsDaily included in his report that the Nets would be willing to offer the aforementioned deal including Johnson and the No. 19 pick along with taking on a bad contract to make the deal work. As the Draft gets closer, it seems that the sentiment around the league is that Brooklyn will be one of the more active teams heading into the event and given where the Nets are in terms of roster construction, making deals could allow them to maximize their assets.

DeMarcus Cousins has drinks thrown at him, tries to fight fans after wild ejection in Puerto Rico basketball league
DeMarcus Cousins hasn't played in the NBA since the 2021-22 season. (Photo by AAron Ontiveroz/MediaNews Group/The Denver Post via Getty Images) Former Sacramento Kings center DeMarcus Cousins came extremely close to re-creating the "Malice at the Palace" on Monday. Cousins tried to fight fans after a wild ejection during a Puerto Rico basketball league game. The incident occurred in the fourth quarter of the contest. Cousins — a member of the Guaynabo Mets — appeared to get into a verbal altercation with a fan on the side of the court. Cousins grabbed his crotch in front of the fan, who responded by flipping off Cousins. The center then touched the man multiple times before teammates stepped in. Cousins was ejected from the contest, but the incident wasn't over. As Cousins was being led back through the tunnel, he took a swipe at an angry fan and stuck up his middle finger at the crowd. At that point, multiple fans threw drinks at Cousins, who then attempted to go after the fans. Cousins was held back by multiple security members, who prevented what could have been a much nastier incident. Cousins, 34, hasn't played in the NBA since the 2021-22 season. A former first-round pick, Cousins emerged as a future superstar early in his career before injuries slowed him. Advertisement Since leaving the NBA, Cousins has continued his professional basketball career in various leagues around the world. He initially joined the Guaynabo Mets in 2023, but he also played in Taiwan and Mongolia before re-joining the Mets for the 2025 season. It's unclear whether Cousins will continue playing for the Mets following Monday's ejection and near-fight, which drew comparisons to the "Malice at the Palace." During an NBA game in 2004, Metta World Peace — then known as Ron Artest — went into the stands and fought fans at The Palace at Auburn Hills, where the Detroit Pistons used to play. Multiple players got involved in the scuffle, leading to multiple suspensions and charges from law enforcement. The Cousins incident didn't rise to that level Monday, but it's tough to see him getting another shot in the league considering how bad the situation looked.

LSU's Flau'jae Johnson admits friendship with Angel Reese has soured
Flau'jae Johnson and Angel Reese won a women's college basketball national championship together when the two players were with the LSU Tigers. However, it appears a lot has changed since then. Reese, who now plays in the WNBA for the Chicago Sky, opened up about her relationship with Johnson in September during an episode of her podcast, "Unapologetically Angel." She said at the time the two were not "as close as we used to be" and "there were no hard feelings" toward each other, but the closeness that was once there just is not anymore. Johnson added more to it when she appeared on "The Breakfast Club" on Monday. "We're not friends, but I mean that bond that we had, that thing that we did together, winning a national championship, you can never take that away from us," she said. "And so sometimes stuff happens. You wish it don't happen, but it do. And you just gotta grow. "But I support her in everything she do. Like, she's killing in the WNBA … I'm just proud of her." Johnson agreed that the reason for the split was partially to do with things happening in the background. "Yeah, it was a lot of media, it was a lot of locker room stuff, you know what I'm saying? Stuff that go on behind the scenes. But it happens. It happens," she said. During the 2023-24 season, as LSU looked to defend its national title, the mothers of both Reese and Johnson got into a social media spat. Reese's mother, Angel Reese Webb, criticized Johnson on social media, which prompted a response from Johnson's mom, Kia Brooks, who took aim at the former Tigers' forward GPA. Reese, the former LSU star, seemingly threw shade at Brooks when she graduated from school. Follow Fox News Digital's sports coverage on X, and subscribe to the Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.
