Former Arsenal star Rob Holding, 29, lined up for shock MLS transfer following failed Sheffield United loan

ROB HOLDING is on the radar of MLS clubs as his Crystal Palace future is in doubt. The ex-Arsenal defender, 29, had a loan at Sheffield United for the second half of last season. 3 Championship sides are keen but there is interest in the US for a second year running. The defender was signed from Arsenal for £4million in 2023, but he played only one game for the Eagles after falling out with manager Oliver Glasner. He was then sent to train with the junior team, where he remained frozen out until deadline day of the January transfer window, when he joined Sheffield United. Holding, who made 162 appearances for Arsenal, was brought in to add experience and solidity to Crystal Palace's backline after signing a contract through to 2026. But as things stand, a complete separation from the club could be in everyone's best interest. He went on to make 10 appearances and provided one assist as Sheffield United finished third in the Championship but missed out on promotion and manager Chris Wilder leaving. Former Blades boss Wilder admitted he wanted to keep Holding before leaving his post after failing to secure Premier League promotion. He said: "Rob is just a straight loan until the end of the season, but he's certainly someone we'd be interested in if the loan goes well. 'You don't get signed by a club like Arsenal if you haven't got something about you – if you're not a little bit special. 'As sometimes happens, things didn't work out at Palace, and we've taken advantage of that. 'Everyone's been impressed with Rob in his early days here at Sheffield United." Crystal Palace could be KICKED OUT of Europa League before a ball is even kicked The departure of Wilder has meant Holding could do with moving abroad instead of heading back to Bramall Lane. In other transfer news, Crystal Palace welcomed Eberechi Eze back for pre-season despite strong links to Arsenal. The England midfielder has two years left on his current deal, but after lifting the FA Cup and establishing himself as a Palace legend, a move to North London does interest him. Palace, however, are yet to receive an official approach. Sources have told SunSport the Eagles will hold out for a fee of around £65million to do business with the Gunners.

‘Made him bow' – Incredible new footage of Usyk's stunning KO of Dubois leaves boxing fans stunned

FANS were left gobsmacked after catching a new angle of Oleksandr Usyk's brutal knockout of Daniel Dubois in their heavyweight world title rematch. Ukraine 's three-time undisputed king floored British star Dubois with a devastating left hook in the fifth round at Wembley Stadium on Saturday night. 5 5 5 And Usyk's trusty left hand that finished Dubois was caught close-up on an epic ringside video. Incredible new footage from DAZN 's social media account show a raw clip of Dubois' final fall - seconds after he initially beat an eight count. As the pay-per-view cameras were set up inside the ring, fans have been treated to a fresh worm's-eye view perceptive from underneath the last blow. Dubois had Wembley on their feet when the crowd thought he had Usyk cornered, before the tricky Ukrainian side stepped his way out of it. And before anybody knew about it, the relentless 38-year-old, who remains undefeated in 24 fights, clipped Dubois with a crisp right hand to the temple for the first knockdown. Brave Dubois rose from the canvas and began throwing punches to settle himself in front of 90,000 raucous fans in North London. But seconds later Usyk picked him off, lining up a powerful high left hook to Dubois chin, which toppled the 27-year-old bigger man over on his back. The Londoner was stunned as he laid spread out on the canvas, propped on one elbow before his corner threw in the towel as the referee reached the count of nine. 5 And fans were stunned by the new angle, with one writing: "Usyk made him bow." While another said: "Love the close-up footage." A third added: "No one on the planet can live with this guy." 5 Usyk vs Dubois round by round as brutal knockout cements Ukrainian's place in history OLEKSANDR USYK cemented his name in the list of all-time boxing greats as he became a three-time undisputed champion with a fifth round knockout win over Daniel Dubois. Usyk dropped Dubois multiple times as he put any doubts about his first win over the Brit to bed by cementing the repeat and avoiding the revenge. Here, SunSport's Jack Figg gives his round-by-round verdict... ROUND ONE Usyk looks light on his toes, swaying side to side, Dubois plants his feet and walks forward. Stiff jab from Usyk appears to almost wake Dubois up and the Brit responds with a one-two. Usyk searches to the body with a left, blocks a right hand from Dubois and ends the round with a menacing combo. Usyk 10 Dubois 9 ROUND TWO Dubois lunges in with a right hand, Usyk expertly takes half a step back and responds with a counter left. Another right misses from Dubois and he takes a left cross which has him on shaky legs. Already Usyk is finding his rhythm, making Dubois miss and certainty making him pay. Usyk 10 Dubois 9 (Usyk 20 Dubois 18) ROUND THREE Usyk staggers back after a right hand from Dubois - maybe more off balance than hurt. Dubois charges forward with a left hook, right hand but Usyk covers up well. Huge left hook lands on the button from Usyk, sweat sprays off Dubois face. Usyk 10 Dubois 9 (Usyk 30 Dubois 27) ROUND FOUR Right uppercut lands on Usyk's belt-line in a genuine case of dejavu from low-blow gate in their first fight. Dubois traps Usyk in the corner, lands a right but the Ukrainian legend slips off before any troubling damage can be done. Left hand lands for Usyk but Dubois grabs on and closes the distance, smart defence to cap off his best round so far. Usyk 9 Dubois 10 (Usyk 39 Dubois 37) ROUND FIVE Right hook followed by a left hand lands for Usyk has Dubois teetering backwards. Dubois comes forward, charging at Usyk and the two trade off in the corner but DOWN GOES DUBOIS after a counter right hook. He makes it to his feet but is dropped with another left hook and the fight is over! Dubois fails to beat the count and Usyk is once again undisputed heavyweight world champion. Usyk wins by KO Usyk, who crumbled to his knees after making more history, later had the press conference in stitches when he revealed his unique nickname for the kind of left hook he used. The heavyweight champion, who holds all the belts again, actually calls that punch ' IVAN' because it reminds him of tough, big men living in villages at his home country. Undisputed first at cruiserweight, Usyk, became the first undisputed heavyweight champion in a quarter of a century, and the first of the four belt era, when he beat Tyson Fury last year. He never lost the IBF championship in the ring, but couldn't make a mandatory defence of that title when he went into an immediate rematch with Fury. That saw Usyk vacate the IBF belt ahead of his second points victory over Fury and Dubois, previously the Interim titlist, elevated to full champion. A third career defeat leaves Dubois in a difficult position and requiring another rebuild. The Brit has not beaten a champion to claim a world title - he won the interim IBF belt and was subsequently elevated to full world champion before making one defence against Joshua. WBO interim heavyweight champion Joseph Parker was also keeping a close eye on proceedings as he seeks a date with the champion next.

Viktor Gyokeres' father 'left in TEARS' as Arsenal transfer saga rumbles on - with Sporting Lisbon star's 'dream move in danger of collapsing'

Viktor Gyokeres' father was reportedly reduced to tears upon hearing that his son's move from Sporting Lisbon to Arsenal may collapse at the final hurdle. Mail Sport understands that the clubs are close to agreeing a deal worth an initial £55million, with a further £7.4m in add-ons, while Gyokeres has agreed a five-year contract. Arsenal had hoped to seal the deal before they flew out to their pre-season tour of Asia on Saturday, but the two sides remain at odds over bonus payments and the schedule of instalments, with Sporting pushing for more of the fee up front. According to Portuguese outlet A Bola, Arsenal's latest bid has been left unanswered for six days, as Sporting refuse to budge on their stance. Amid fears that Gyokeres' dream move may be slipping away, his family are reportedly devastated, believing he deserves a better send-off for his service to the club. The report added that Gyokeres has even distanced himself from the idea of a move to north London. Arsenal feel they have gone as far as possible with their offer and are reluctant to meet Sporting's strict terms on bonuses. But the Portuguese side insists that any variable payments must be realistically achievable, fearing Arsenal's deal relies too heavily on future add-ons. During their tour of Asia, Arsenal are set to face AC Milan and Newcastle in Singapore, then north London rivals Tottenham in Hong Kong. If the club get a deal for Gyokeres over the line, the striker would likely have to wait until August 6 when the Gunners host Villarreal in their first pre-season game back from Asia. After that, Mikel Arteta's side conclude their summer preparations against Athletic Club, before kicking off the Premier League season away at Manchester United. Gyokeres has enjoyed a stunning two-year spell in the Portuguese top flight, netting 97 times in just 102 appearances for Sporting. He scored 54 club goals last term across all competitions, and is rated as one of the most prolific forwards in Europe. Should he seal a move to Arsenal, the 27-year-old will depart Sporting having earned two league titles and the Portuguese Cup during his time at the club. Gyokeres joined Sporting in a £20m move from Coventry in 2023, where he had scored 43 goals in two-and-a-half seasons. Having previously struggled to break into the first team when he was at Brighton, Gyokeres has spoken of his desire to return to the English top flight, to get revenge for his empty spell with the Seagulls. 'It's one of the biggest leagues in Europe,' Gyokeres said. 'I spent several years there without being able to play a single match. 'So, of course, it's something I would like to do. It would be a great revenge.' Gyokeres would end Arsenal's long search for a high-quality centre forward, providing Arteta's squad with a boost as they aim to secure a first Premier League title in 22 years.
