Virat Kohli's brother, Vikas, took a dig at India's bowlers after they struggled against England in the fourth Test at Old Trafford.

India's bowlers struggled to match England's intensity during the fourth Test at Old Trafford, Manchester, as the hosts dominated with both bat and ball. After being bowled out for 358 in the first innings, India's bowlers were unable to make significant inroads, allowing England to capitalise on batting-friendly conditions and post a mammoth 669 for a commanding 311-run lead.
Virat Kohli's brother, Vikas Kohli, appeared to express his frustration at India's lacklustre bowling performance. Taking to Threads, he wrote: 'Not long ago, we had a Test team where our bowlers used to take 20 wickets," alluding to the aggressive, pace-driven bowling unit that thrived during Virat's captaincy era.
Despite the daunting situation, India's batters showed remarkable resolve in their second innings. After the departures of captain Shubman Gill and opener KL Rahul cheaply in the first session on the fifth day, Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar staged a remarkable recovery. The pair stitched together a 203-run stand for the fifth wicket, with both reaching unbeaten centuries.
Jadeja finished on 107*, while Sundar remained not out on 101*, as India batted out more than five sessions to secure a hard-fought draw.
England's bowlers, who had looked threatening in India's first innings, failed to make breakthroughs in the final two sessions of Day 5. Ben Stokes, who had earlier starred with both bat and ball, scoring a brilliant 141 and taking a five-wicket haul, was named Player of the Match for the second consecutive Test.
This result marked India's first draw at Old Trafford in 35 years, the last one dating back to 1990. The five-match series now stands at 2-1 in England's favour, with the decider set to be played at The Oval from July 31.
For India, the spirited fightback from Jadeja and Sundar will be a positive takeaway, but the concerns over their bowling performance, highlighted by Vikas Kohli's comments, remain a key talking point heading into the series finale. It remains to be seen what the team does with some selection headaches, including Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj's workload management, Kuldeep Yadav's absence and Shardul Thakur's form.

Asia Cup Squad To Be Out Soon; Gill, Jaiswal And Sudharsan In Contention: Report

Last Updated: Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sai Sudharsan are contenders in India's Asia Cup squad, to be announced in the third week of August. Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, and Sai Sudharsan are contenders for selection in India's Asia Cup squad, which is expected to be announced in the third week of August. Jaiswal and Test captain Gill have not participated in recent T20 matches due to a packed schedule, but their one-month break following the five-Test series against England should make them available for the continental tournament. According to BCCI sources, the national selectors are keeping their options open even as the Test series against the West Indies at home begins in less than a week. Should India qualify for the final of the continental T20 event, scheduled for September 28, the selectors will make their decisions accordingly. The first Test against the West Indies in Ahmedabad starts on October 2. It is worth noting that Jaiswal scored 559 runs at a strike rate of 160 in the last IPL edition, while Gill amassed 650 runs in 15 games with a healthy strike rate of over 155. Gill's opening partner at Gujarat Titans, Sudharsan, was the 'Orange Cap' winner with 759 runs at a strike rate of 156. 'There is a five week break and with no cricket around, these three should walk into any T20 squad despite stupendous show by Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma. In 21 days in Asia Cup, if one plays till final, there are 6 T20 games and that's not much of a workload. But obviously with 17 member squads allowed for the Asia Cup, selectors will weigh options carefully," a BCCI source was quoted as saying by PTI on conditions of anonymity. Will Jaiswal, Gill & Sudharsan Play In Asia Cup? Considering the UAE pitches and the upcoming T20 World Cup in six months, Jaiswal, Gill, and Sudharsan should logically form the core of the top order. Sudharsan, who made his ODI debut in late 2023, has been in excellent T20 form. Another important point is the availability of pace spearheads Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj. Both bowlers have been carefully managed after a heavy workload across formats and are expected to undergo fitness assessments before the selection meeting. Last Updated: India will host AFC U-17 Asian Cup qualifiers in Ahmedabad from Nov 22-30. India will be one of seven hosts for the AFC U-17 Asian Cup football qualifiers, scheduled from November 22 to 30. The Arena in Ahmedabad will be the venue for all matches. The draw for the qualifiers is set for August 7. The 38 countries competing in the qualifiers will be divided into seven groups (three groups of six teams and four groups of five teams each). The group winners will qualify for the AFC U-17 Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2026, joining nine participating AFC teams in the FIFA U-17 World Cup Qatar 2025, who have already directly qualified for the tournament. AIFF President Kalyan Chaubey said: 'It is a matter of great pride for India to be among the hosts of the AFC U-17 Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2026 Qualifiers, and I am particularly pleased to see Ahmedabad take centre stage. I sincerely hope that India qualifies for the AFC U-17 Asian Cup, which serves as the gateway to the FIFA U-17 World Cup, and takes another important step forward in Indian football's long-term development pathway." Gujarat sports minister Harsh Sanghavi stated: 'It's an opportunity for the state to showcase its love for the beautiful game, its world-class hospitality, and our rising football culture. Hosting a prestigious event like this will position Ahmedabad on the Asian football map." The 38 teams competing in the qualifiers have been divided into six pots based on seeding and pot allocation principles, which consider the team's performance in the last three tournaments (2025, 2023, and 2018). While India is in Pot 2, they will also be placed in an additional Hosts Pot for the draw to ensure all hosts are drawn into separate groups. China PR, Vietnam, Thailand, Myanmar, Kyrgyz Republic, and Jordan are the other six hosts that cannot be drawn into India's group. Pots for the AFC U-17 Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2026 Qualifiers Draw: Pot 1: Australia, Yemen, IR Iran, Oman, Thailand Pot 3: Singapore, Bahrain, Philippines, Turkmenistan, Palestine Hosts Pot: China PR, Vietnam, Thailand, India, Myanmar, Kyrgyz Republic, Jordan. "We Failed To Recognise Mohammed Siraj": R Ashwin's Bold 'No. 1 Test Bowler' Message To Gautam Gambhir

Pacer Mohammed Siraj became a hero for Team India as his brilliant spell propelled the team to a stunning six-run victory over England in the fifth and final Test of the five-match series. Siraj took a total of nine wickets as India won the fifth Test at The Oval and ended the five-match series with a 2-2 draw. In the absence of star pacer Jasprit Bumrah, the bowling department seemed to be a bit weak but Siraj, along with Prasidh Krishna, did not let anyone miss Bumrah and brilliantly performed the role. As the historic series ended in a draw, former India all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin lavished praise on Siraj and stated that the fans actually failed to recognise the true talent of the right-arm pacer. "We failed to recognise Mohammed Siraj. The time has come to recognise him now. He once again put his hand up; he has given a compelling reason. Just look at his celebration, it seems as if he is saying, 'This is not the trailer. This is the main picture itself'. He is saying, 'Please consider me as a match winner'. ' He is reminding us what a champion bowler he is. His bowling action, his technique and good work ethic are allowing him to play all five Tests in a series," said Ashwin on his YouTube channel. Ashwin further stated that the team management should properly look after Siraj's workload as he is growing older with time. "He is also growing old. It is important for the team management to rest him as well from inconsequential matches. He could be your No.1 Test bowler; he could be your go-to Test bowler," said Ashwin. "We have to rebuild the bowling attack. Akash Deep is there, Prasidh Krishna is there, Arshdeep Singh is there. Around Mohammed Siraj and his experience, we have to build it," he added. Siraj ended the series with the Player of the Match award in the fifth Test. He also emerged as the highest wicket-taker with 23 scalps in five matches.
