Farah Khan
recently took fans down memory lane in her latest vlog, recalling the 'Happy New Year' premiere night in Dubai with a humorous twist. The 2014 multi-starrer might have been a box office blockbuster, but its cast barely made it through the first five minutes of its grand premiere screening.
Farah revealed in her vlog that after an intense promotional spree for the
Shah Rukh Khan
and Deepika Padukone-starrer, the team was so exhausted that they collectively dozed off at the theatre—despite being seated in the front row! 'Premiere shuru hua aur saari star cast aage ki line mein bethi thi… and in five minutes, we all slept,' she laughed.
40 Days of relentless PR and a 3-week tour took a toll
Farah recounted that no film she's worked on had seen such aggressive promotions. 'Hum logon ne itni PR ki hai Happy New Year ki kisi picture ne nahi ki hogi,' she said, explaining how the team pushed through 40 days of non-stop promotions, followed by a three-week international tour.
In a candid moment during her visit to actor
Sonu Sood
's residence, she revealed that Sonu survived 150 days of shoot in Dubai on just salad, being a strict vegetarian. While enjoying avocado toast prepared by Sonu, Farah entertained his wife Sonali with behind-the-scenes stories—one of which turned into the now-viral "premiere sleep" confession.
A Blockbuster That Still Brings Laughs
'Happy New Year', directed by Farah, was released in 2014 and went on to gross Rs 397 crore worldwide. Despite mixed reviews, the film's unique blend of dance, heist, and humor made it one of the biggest hits of the year.
Meanwhile, SRK was last seen in the
Rajkumar Hirani
's directorial comedy drama film 'Dunki' which turned out to be a superhit with decent reviews.

Saiyaara Worldwide Opening Weekend Box Office: Ahaan Panday & Aneet Padda starrer is a BLOCKBUSTER with Rs 109 crore in 3 days

The Mohit Suri-directed Saiyaara is emerging to be a global blockbuster as the film has grossed Rs 109 crore in its 3-day opening weekend at the worldwide box office. Marking the debut of Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, Saiyaara has collected Rs 96.75 crore (NBOC: Rs 81.00 crore) in India, and USD 1.50 million (INR 12.25 crore) in the international markets as per estimates. Saiyaara marks the biggest opening weekend of all time by a margin for a debut film, and the film is looking to scale new heights by the end of its run. The business in India and international markets grew from strength to strength over the weekend, and the film is now looking to show a path-breaking hold in collections on the weekdays too. Given that Saiyaara has overperformed, the chatter of corporate bookings in the industry and social media is obvious, but the global numbers are a stamp of authenticity, as one can't orchestrate figures globally at this level. To put things in perspective, loud and clear – the numbers of Saiyaara are ORGANIC, GENUINE attracting ACTUAL AUDIENCE with purchasing power on the seats in cinema halls. Hitting Rs 100 crore in the weekend is a dream for most of the actors outside of the Big 5, and Saiyaara has done it with rank newcomers. The content, the music, and the talent of two leads - Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda - have done the talking to draw audiences in big numbers to the cinema halls. The film has got shoot of scoring in the North of Rs 350 crore at the global box office by the end of its run, though one can say that with surety only post the Monday hold, which most likely is going to send shockwaves in the industry. These numbers are historic to say the least, and the film has already emerged as a theatrical blockbuster in just 3-days of its run. Feature films usually slow down on Sunday night, but Saiyaara is an unstoppable force, refusing to stop selling tickets like hot cup-cakes even for the late-night shows on the third day! Mohit Suri wanted actress who 'hadn't done anything cosmetically', director talks about casting Aneet Padda for Saiyaara

Saiyaara has been making headlines ever since its release. The film has turned out to be absolutely impressive, and the audience is showering the movie with much love. Starring debutant Ahaan Panday and Big Girls Don't Cry fame Aneet Padda, the romantic drama is performing exceptionally well at the box office. Meanwhile, director Mohit Suri has opened up about why he chose Aneet as the female lead in Saiyaara. He admitted to taking months to find the actress so that he could sign her. Talking to Bollywood Hungama, Mohit Suri said that he was looking for someone who hadn't undergone any cosmetic procedures to either their face or body. He remarked, "That was a major requirement. I didn't expect it to be such a big requirement. Not only that, I needed someone who felt real, someone who hadn't done something to themselves. She had done some work before, and she was brilliant at it." Mohit Suri says Aneet Padda was good in the auditions Further, the director mentioned that the young actress is a brilliant actor. Talking about her auditions, Suri added that the Salaam Venky actress appeared to be a perfect fit to play a small-town Punjabi girl from Amritsar. "We often have the wrong idea of what small-town India is like; they're actually more conventionally 'out there' than we are. She had more to share with me than I had with her. She came through a round of auditions, not that the others weren't good, but sometimes, they were too done up," Mohit concluded. Saiyaara box office report and audience reception The big-screen debut movie of Aneet Padda turned out to be a big surprise for the industry. The movie scored over Rs 21.25 crore on its opening day, followed by a surreal Rs 25 crore on Day 2. The two-day cumulative box office collection of Saiyaara is around Rs 45 crore net. The movie is going to be a blockbuster of epic proportions. Stay tuned to Pinkvilla for more updates.
