Rajasthan Police cautions NEET aspirants not to fall for paper leak fraud
The National Board of Examinations and Rajasthan cyber crime branch have said that fraudsters are trying to dupe the students and parents of money by claiming that the NEET paper has been leaked online and can be obtained for an amount.
Jaipur, Apr 30 (PTI) Rajasthan Police has requested medical aspirants and their family members to be aware of potential cyber fraud related to the NEET-UG 2025 exam.
National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET-UG) is a nation-wide exam conducted for admission to undergraduate medical education in all medical institutions. It is conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA).
Director General of Police (Cyber Crime) Hemant Priyadarshi said that through the Telegram app and social media platforms, scammers are spreading misleading information about the paper and trying to con the public off lakhs of rupees.
The senior police officer said that the exam is on May 4 across the country, and the spreading of false information about the paper leak has increased concern among students and parents, he highlighted.
Priyadarshi, in the statement, said that a number of fraudulent Telegram channels have been created to commit fraud ahead of the exam.
A channel named 'NEET PG Leaked Materials' is operating, and about 20,600 members are connected to it, he pointed out.
He said that in such channels, scammers are demanding Rs 50,000-70,000 from the students.
The DGP warned aspirants and their family members not to share information like roll numbers or bank details with anyone and requested that any suspicious screenshots, group links, bank account, UPI ID and wallet details be shared with cyber helpline number 1930, cyber crime reporting portal or nearest police station, he said. Man sentenced for racist death threat emails to former British PM Rishi Sunak
London, Aug 19 (PTI) A 21-year-old man has been sentenced to 14 weeks' imprisonment and a two-year restraining order for sending racist death threats to Rishi Sunak in June last year, when he was still the British prime minister. Liam Shaw from Birkenhead in Merseyside, north-west England, pleaded guilty to sending two threatening and offensive emails to the public parliamentary email address of Sunak, MP for Richmond and Northallerton in Yorkshire, the UK's Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said. The emails were spotted by the British Indian leader's personal assistant and reported to the police. 'Liam Shaw took to his phone that night to send racist and threatening messages to a person in an extremely important public office," said Matthew Dixon, Senior Crown Prosecutor at CPS Mersey Cheshire. 'Racist abuse has no place, anywhere, in this day and age," he said. Police traced the email, sent via a mobile phone, to Shaw's email address and to a hostel where he was staying in Birkenhead. He was arrested by police on September 3, 2024, and when the allegations were put to him, he claimed, 'I don't even remember sending an email. I was probably drunk." He was then taken to a police station in Liverpool and interviewed, but remained silent throughout, according to the CPS, which went on to charge him with two counts of sending by a public communication network an offensive, indecent, obscene, or menacing message. Two held for attempting illegal religious conversion in UPs Mau
Agency: PTI Last Updated: Mau (UP), Aug 19 (PTI) Two persons have been arrested for allegedly attempting to covert a man to Christianity in Uttar Pradesh's Mau district, police said on Tuesday. A case has been registered against the arrested accused and an unidentified individual, they said. On Sunday, Akash Kumar, a resident of the district, lodged a complaint against Shyam Kumar Rajbhar and Ravi Shankar, a police officer said. The complainant alleged that, 'Around two months ago Shyam and Ravi were pressuring me to change my religion by offering me money. When I refused, they asked me to come to a prayer meeting near Salahabad." Upon reaching the spot, Akash saw around 60 to 70 people being 'brainwashed" to convert their religion, police said. Acting on the complaint, a police team was sent to the spot on Monday, leading to the arrest of Shyam and Ravi while a few unidentified persons managed to flee, Station House Officer (SHO) Anil Kumar Singh said. The team recovered Christian religious text, books and other religious symbols from the spot, the officer said added. Superintendent of Police Elamaran G said any attempt of illegal conversion will not be tolerated, and strict action will be taken against those involved in such acts.
