A road rage incident in Calgary's northeast left a 17-year-old boy hospitalized after he was learning to drive with his mother. The incident occurred Tuesday around 9:30 p.m. in the 6100 block of 4th Avenue N.E., near a townhouse complex along Madigan Drive N.E. The mother was teaching her son to park an SUV when police say a white pickup truck was aggressively pulled up behind them. According to police, the pickup truck driver then drove around the victims' vehicle, performed a U-turn and parked next to the SUV. Two men exited the truck and attempted to enter the victims' vehicle. The 17-year-old boy exited the SUV to protect his mother and was subsequently assaulted with a weapon. His mom called police and the suspects fled the scene. Paramedics attended the scene and transported the boy to Foothills Medical Centre in serious but stable condition. He had soft-tissue injuries. Police say the victims and offenders were unknown to each other. The suspects are two men between 20 and 30 years old, with one wearing a white shirt at the time. The vehicle they were in is believed to be a white, early 2000s Chevrolet Silverado or GMC Sierra extended cab, with an unknown object extending out of the truck bed. Police also believe there may have been additional witnesses at the scene who may have recorded the altercation. Anyone with information about or footage of the incident is asked to call police at 403-266-1234. Those wishing to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
