Stone will be laid for Akhanda Godavari project on June 19, says Andhra Pradesh Tourism Minister Kandula Durgesh
Tourism Minister Kandula Durgesh on Friday said the Central government-sponsored Akhanda Godavari Project would usher in fresh charm in the areas surrounding the Godavari. In a statement, Mr. Durgesh said that Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan and BJP MP Daggubati Purandeswari would lay the foundation stone for the project on June 19. He said the ₹97 crore sanctioned for the project under the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI)-2024-25 scheme would be utilised to develop tourism infrastructure in Rajamahendravaram, Dowleswaram, Kadiyam, Kovvur, Nidadavolu, and surrounding areas. The works were expected to be completed before the upcoming Godavari Pushkarams, he said. Modernisation of Havelock Bridge The 127-year-old Havelock Bridge, a symbol of historical and cultural heritage, would be modernised by adding new features such as waterfalls, glass bridges, gaming zone, space-themed experiences, Urban Haat craft bazar, hanging gardens, hologram zoo, time travel exhibits, rail museum and aquarium tunnels. The Minister said the nearby Pushkar Ghat would be upgraded to make it a significant spiritual destination, enhancing connectivity between the bridge and the ghat to form a dynamic tourist destination. The surrounding temples would also be developed with aesthetic architectural design to usher in spiritual ambience for year-round pilgrimage, he said. The famous Kadiyam nurseries, one of the largest in the country, would also be developed into a tourist attraction. The Godavari canals and the culturally significant locations in the vicinity would be restored and beautified, Mr. Durgesh said, adding that tourists would have boating and leisure rides to spend fun moments. He said the Sri Kota Sattemma temple at Timmarajupalem in Nidadavolu mandal, a prominent ancient spiritual centre known for its grand entrance and towering 'rajagopuram', would be given a facelift by construction of additional pilgrim accommodation facilities and by modernising the 'rajagopuram'.

Report: Rockets, Ime Udoka won't entertain interest from Knicks
Report: Rockets, Ime Udoka won't entertain interest from Knicks The Knicks reportedly have interest in Ime Udoka, but it seems neither the Rockets nor Houston's head coach has interest in New York. With a sudden coaching vacancy, the New York Knicks reportedly have interest in Ime Udoka. But that interest doesn't seem to be reciprocated by either the Rockets or Houston's head coach. 'Regarding reports identifying Ime Udoka as a possible target for the vacant Knicks coaching position, Houston has no interest in entertaining that,' The Athletic's Kelly Iko writes, citing a team source. 'Both parties are committed to the long-term project and are actively preparing for a busy offseason.' As things stand, Udoka is midway through a four-year contract that he signed in April 2023 to coach the Rockets. Thus, the Knicks and Rockets would need to come to some sort of compensation agreement in order for Udoka to be let out of his existing deal, and it doesn't seem there's any interest from the Houston side in exploring that. The Rockets have improved significantly in Udoka's two seasons with the team, and he just finished third in 2024-25 NBA Coach of the Year voting. He's under contract for multiple seasons moving forward and is viewed internally as a foundational piece. Thus, there is zero interest from Houston in parting ways. From a practical standpoint, the interest from the Knicks could perhaps be used by Udoka and his representatives in eventual talks regarding a contract extension. Salaries for NBA coaches have risen in the two-plus years since Udoka signed his initial deal with the Rockets, and coaches rarely enter the final 'lame duck' year of their contracts. Thus, at some point prior to the 2026-27 season, it's likely that Udoka and the Rockets will enter into a new round of negotiations. In that negotiating context, interest from other teams around the league can build up Udoka's market, and it helps to be publicly viewed as desirable. But there remain no indications that he wants to leave Houston, and the team certainly wants to keep him around, as well. Though the Knicks (51-31) made it to the conference finals in a weaker Eastern Conference, they actually had a worse record than the Rockets (52-30), even with Houston facing a tougher West schedule. Combine that with Houston having a younger roster with more room for internal improvement and a better future draft outlook, and it would seem that the Rockets are the superior situation from a basketball standpoint, as well. Premier League team of the season: Our writers' picks
F rom Mohamed Salah and Alexander Isak's goalscoring exploits to the emergence of Myles Lewis-Skelly at Arsenal and Morgan Rogers at Aston Villa, the 2024-25 campaign has been full of tales of individual excellence. We asked our writers to pick out their teams of the season to highlight the players they feel deserve the most recognition. But do you agree with their selections? Let us know in the comments below if you think they have missed out any players and what your team of the season would be. There was only one dilemma; how to squeeze in Bryan Mbeumo when Salah has the right wing sewn up. Given that Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa have been a revelation this season, as well as fun to watch, the solution was obvious. The front three have been integral to their teams achieving their targets this season and, behind them, Pedro Porro and Bruno Fernandes made big impacts in struggling sides. In goal, Jordan Pickford has risen to the challenge of Dean Henderson trying to oust him as England No1. A heavy mix of the top two with a couple of well-deserving Nottingham Forest players thrown in. Eberechi Eze, Lewis-Skelly and Isak all had seasons to remember, and without Fernandes Manchester United really might have been dragged into the bottom three. An underdog team for an underdog season. Honourable mentions for Matheus Cunha, Morgan Gibbs-White, Chris Wood, Wissa, Morgan Rogers, Sandro Tonali, Declan Rice and Dean Huijsen. My manager of the season is Bournemouth's Andoni Iraola. What to say? This team has a bit of everything, a perfect combination of flair, vision, goals, technique and power.

Pistons' J.B. Bickerstaff Disappointed After NBA Announcement on Monday
The Detroit Pistons' 2024-25 season was a historic one despite the disappointing ending in the first round of the playoffs. After finishing with the worst record in the NBA in each of the last two seasons, Detroit had a complete turnaround this season. Advertisement They finished the regular season with a 44-38 record, which placed them sixth in the Eastern Conference standings as they clinched their first playoff appearance since the 2018-19 season. Unfortunately for the Pistons, their championship hopes would end in the first round after they were defeated by the New York Knicks in six games. While the Pistons were unable to advance to the second round, they gave the Knicks all they could handle in round one ad it is clear that Detroit has a very bright future ahead of them led by their star point guard Cade Cunningham. Detroit Pistons head coach J.B. Osentoski-Imagn Images Of course, Cunningham received most of the attention and credit for the Pistons incredible season, but head coach J.B. Bickerstaff also deserves a ton of credit. Advertisement Bickerstaff was honored as being a finalist for the 2024-25 NBA Coach of the Year award along with Kenny Atkinson of the Cleveland Cavaliers and Ime Udoka of the Houston Rockets. Unfortunately for Bickerstaff, he was not voted as the recipient of the award as Atkinson was named the 2024-25 Coach of the Year This is a great honor for Atkinson, who replaced Bickerstaff as head coach of the Cavaliers and led Cleveland to the top seed in the Eastern Conference, but Bickerstaff also made a solid case. After being fired by the Cavaliers in the offseason, Bickerstaff was hired by the Pistons where he would help turn their franchise into a championship contender after being a bottom feeder in the NBA over the last few seasons. Detroit Pistons head coach JB Bickerstaff reacts during the second half against the New York Knicks at Madison Square Carchietta-Imagn Images Despite not winning the award, Bickerstaff's contributions to the Pistons' turnaround should not fly under the radar as they now look to build around their core and improve their title odds in the offseason.
