Blake Shelton Addresses 2025 AMAs TikTok Theories

The 2025 American Music Awards went down on Monday night, and featured performances from Jennifer Lopez, Janet Jackson, Rod Stewart, Benson Boone, Gloria Estefan, Reneé Rapp, Alex Warren, and Lainey Wilson. Not to mention Blake Shelton (who made his AMAs performance debut with "Stay Country or Die Tryin") and Gwen Stefani (who sang "The Sweet Escape," along with "Hollaback Girl" and "Swallow My Tears"). However, some fans were convinced that Blake and Gwen had pre-taped their performances and weren't actually in attendance due to their sets being broadcast on a giant screen during the show. "The craziest part of the AMAS last night was being told 'and here's Blake Shelton live' only for them to light up the stage like he's there and never saying to us it was prerecorded," one fan wrote on TikTok. "THEN, doing the same thing with Gwen Stefani!" The speculation about Blake and Gwen's performance was covered by Rolling Stone, and apparently Blake saw all the chatter because he hopped on Twitter to clear things up. "Just now seeing these stories about Gwen and I pretaping our performances for the AMA's," Blake wrote on Twitter. "We came and performed when the show asked us to.. Really nothing else to say." Welp. That's that on that!

Janet Jackson Will Perform And Receive ICON Honor At 2025 American Music Awards

Janet Jackson is set to receive a long-overdue and well-deserved honor at the 2025 American Music Awards. Broadcasting live from Fontainebleau Las Vegas this Memorial Day, the music icon will be presented with the coveted ICON Award and grace the stage with a rare performance of some of her most timeless hits — marking her first televised performance since 2018. The ICON Award is one of the highest honors at the AMAs, reserved for artists whose impact on music and culture is both lasting and legendary. Only two artists have received the award before — Rihanna in 2013 and Lionel Richie in 2022 — making Janet's recognition all the more meaningful. At 58, Janet Jackson remains a formidable force in entertainment, since her breakout in 1982. Her accolades speak volumes: five Grammy Awards, 10 Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 singles, and seven No. 1 albums. She's also earned a Golden Globe, an Oscar nomination, multiple MTV and Billboard Music Awards, and a well-earned spot in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, an honor presented to her by Janelle Monáe in 2019. Adding to the excitement, Janet will kick off a new leg of her Las Vegas residency, JANET JACKSON: LAS VEGAS, just days before the AMAs. The six-show run at Resorts World Theatre begins May 21 and wraps May 31, giving fans an up-close chance to experience the legend. The 2025 American Music Awards will air live at 8 PM ET/5 PM PT on CBS and will stream on Paramount+. And while Janet's spotlight is well-earned, the night will also be a celebration of the current music landscape. Kendrick Lamar leads this year's nominations with 10 nods, followed by Post Malone with eight, and Billie Eilish, Chappell Roan, and Shaboozey with seven each. Fan voting is now open at and on the official @AMAs Instagram until Thursday (May 15). Shaboozey Explains The Bombastic Side-Eye From 2025 American Music Awards

Chart-topping country star, Shaboozey, went viral following the 2025 American Music Awards. While presenting the award for Favorite Country Duo Or Group with fellow country singer Megan Moroney, the 'A Bar Song (Tipsy)' phenom side-eyed her after she stated that the Carter Family 'invented country.' 'This award went to the Carter Family, who basically invented country music,' Moroney read from the teleprompter. Shaboozey stood there with a puzzled look on his face, but took to social media on Tuesday (May 27) with a proper response. 'Google: Lesley Riddle, Steve Tartar, Harry Gay, Defoe Bailey, and The Carter Family…' Shaboozey tweeted the day after the awards show. 'When you uncover the true history of country music, you find a story so powerful that it cannot be erased. The real history of country music is about people coming together despite their differences, and embracing and celebrating the things that make us alike.' Not to be confused with Beyoncé and Cowboy Carter, Moroney was referring to a group of musicians from the 20th century who many consider to be the first stars of country music since their work popularized the genre. However, they did not invent the genre. Many Black musicians like guitarist Lesley Riddle was part of those pioneering artists that helped define the country sound. Shaboozey also defended Moroney on Instagram — who faced backlash about the statement— noting that his reaction had nothing to do with her. 'Just want to clear something up: my reaction at the AMAs had nothing to do with Megan Moroney! She's an incredibly talented, hard-working artist who's doing amazing things for country music and I've got nothing but respect for her,' he commented on her post. The 30-year-old continued, 'I've seen some hateful comments directed at her today, and that's not what this moment was about. Let's not twist the message— she is amazing and someone who represents the country community in the highest light!' Dan + Shay took home the win for Favorite Country Duo Or Group while Beyoncé was named Favorite Female Country Artist and Cowboy Carter won for Favorite Country Album.
