Florida football lands commitment from 4-star safety for 2026 class
Florida football landed its fourth commitment of the 2026 class, getting a pledge from Milton High safety Kaiden Hall on June 3, per On3's Hayes Fawcett. Hall visited UF's campus from over the weekend and chose the Florida Gators over offers from Tennessee, Texas A&M, USF and UCF. He's listed as a three-star prospect by and a four-star per composite rankings. Advertisement Hall is the first defensive back to commit to UF's 2026 class, a list that includes quarterback Will Griffin (four-star, Jesuit Prep, Tampa), defensive lineman Jamir Perez (three-star, Glenville High, Cleveland, Ohio) and inside offensive lineman G'Nivre Carr (three-star, IMG Academy, Bradenton). Under fourth-year coach Billy Napier, Florida is looking to build off its recruiting moment from a year ago, when it rallied late to put together a 2025 class that ranked seventh nationally, per 247Sports. Some of those players stood out as early enrollees in UF's spring game, including five-star wide receiver Dallas Wilson, who had 10 catches for 195 yards and 2 TDs. Here's more information on Hall per Gannett Florida's USA Today in-state recruiting database: Kaiden Hall School: Milton Advertisement Commitment: Florida Height, Weight: 6-3, 195 pounds 2024 Stats: 28 carries, 161 rushing yards, 2 rushing TDs, 8 catches, 80 receiving yards, 32 tackles, 3 TFL (MaxPreps) USA Today Florida Network Ranking: No. 21 (No. 1 ATH) USA Today Florida Network Star Rating: 4 ★★★★ USA Today Florida Network grade: 91.5 247Sports Composite: 4 star, No. 21 player in Florida, No. 12 safety in the country Scouting report: Hall displays an incredible understanding of his position whichever it is on the field. He has arguably the best run support of any safety in the class, elite size that makes him a dangerous receiver. He's very physical, and his explosiveness is a real plus. MSU target, 3-star edge rusher Cory House reportedly cancels official visits at IU, UNC
MSU target, 3-star edge rusher Cory House reportedly cancels official visits at IU, UNC A Michigan State recruiting target has reportedly cancelled a pair of upcoming official visits following his visit to East Lansing, Mich. this past weekend. Three-star edge rusher Cory House has reportedly cancelled upcoming official visits to North Carolina and Indiana, according to 247Sports. House also has moved up his official visits for Iowa and Memphis, with a trip to Iowa now planned for June 5 and a visit to his hometown school of Memphis on June 13. House took an official visit to Michigan State his past weekend, which appeared to go well based on reports from out of the visit. House is considered a high-priority target for the Spartans in the 2026 class. House holds a recruiting rating of 87 on 247Sports, and ranks as the No. 66 edge rusher in the class. He is also listed as the No. 19 player from Tennessee and No. 825 player in the country. House cancelling a pair of official visits bodes well for the Spartans in their pursuit of House. With visits to Iowa and Memphis still on the books, it appears House is still working his way through the recruiting process. It just now looks like it's shaping up to be a three-team race between the Spartans, Hawkeyes and Tigers. Washington receives crystal ball for legacy cornerback recruit
Washington receives crystal ball for legacy cornerback recruit Jedd Fisch and the Washington Huskies continue to see dividends from their recent weekend of visits. After earning commitments from three-star offensive lineman Dominic Harris and four-star safety Gavin Day and receiving a crystal ball for three-star athlete Dre Pollard on Sunday, Washington continued their momentum on the trail with a crystal ball for three-star cornerback Derrick Johnson II on Monday. Johnson, the son of former Huskies corner Derrick Johnson, received the crystal ball to the Huskies from 247Sports following his visit. The Murrieta Valley (CA) defensive back is currently ranked the No. 615 player and No. 49 cornerback in the 247Sports Composite rankings. He also runs track, where he's gone as fast as 22.11 in the 200m and 49.98 in the 400m as of last season. The elder Johnson was a two-time second-team All-Pac-10 selection in 2002 and 2003 for the Huskies. He was selected in the sixth round of the 2005 NFL Draft by the San Francisco 49ers, starting 5 games and playing in 14 total as a rookie. He went on to play for the Houston Texans and Atlanta Falcons and spent time with the Miami Dolphins, Seattle Seahawks, and the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the CFL. The younger Johnson is currently scheduled to take additional visits to Oklahoma, Kansas, and Utah, according to 247Sports. He was on UCLA's campus two weekends ago for the Bruins' open spring practice for an unofficial visit with his younger brother Darius, a 2027 cornerback recruit, as well. Johnson told 247Sports in May that he was planning on committing in late June or early July after he got through all of his visits, but Fisch tweeted four umbrella emojis on Sunday, suggesting that Washington secured four commitments during their visit weekend. Harris and Day committed later that day, and the crystal balls for Pollard and Johnson would fill out the rest of that list. Washington currently has the Bo. 20 recruiting class in the country in 2026, per the 247Sports Composite rankings.

Iowa women's basketball offers nation's top 2027 recruit Kaleena Smith
Iowa women's basketball offers nation's top 2027 recruit Kaleena Smith On the heels of the program offering four-star prospect Madi Mignery, Iowa women's basketball continued its push for the nation's top 2027 recruits by extending an offer to five-star guard Kaleena Smith. Smith, who hails from Ontario, Calif., is ranked as the top national recruit by both ESPN and 247Sports, and the No. 1 recruit in the Golden State per Prep Girls Hoops. The 5-foot-6 point guard's unbelievable stat line fits her top national billing. Smith holds a career average of 29.1 points, 7.3 assists, 4.2 steals and 3.2 rebounds per game over 65 games played in the past two years at Ontario Christian High School. Smith shoots 51% from the field, 39% from 3-point territory, and 85% from the free-throw line, per MaxPreps. In addition to the Hawkeyes, Smith has received notable offers from South Carolina, UConn, USC, UCLA, LSU, and Tennessee. While landing the top national recruit in the 2027 class would immediately catapult the Hawkeyes into national title contention talk, Smith has quite a long way to go in her recruitment, and the Hawkeyes have clearly shown they are willing to go toe-to-toe against the premier competition on the recruiting trail. Report: Florida football special teams coach moving on to Houston
One of the special teams' coaches for Florida football is moving on to a new job. According to a report by Matt Zenitz of 247Sports, Florida Gators Game Changer coordinator Chris Couch is accepting the special teams coordinator job at Houston. Advertisement The move reunites Couch with Houston coach Willie Fritz, whom he worked under at Tulane from 2016-20. Couch endured some ups and downs in his first two years under head coach Billy Napier as lead special teams' analyst. Under Couch, Florida at times failed to line up correctly, resulting in either 10 players or too many players on the field in changeovers for punts and field goal attempts. During the 2024 offseason, Florida added special teams' coordinator Joe Houston to work with Couch. Houston, a former special teams assistant with the New England Patriots (2020-23) and special teams coach at Iowa State (2016-18), added a new voice with experience. Due to a change in NCAA rules, both analysts were able to work on the field during 2024 fall camp, which resulted in smoother special teams' operation during the 2024 season. Coach joins former UF co-defensive coordinator Austin Armstrong as the second coach to leave the Gators for Houston in the last seven months. Armstrong took over as Houston defensive coordinator last December. Advertisement Kevin Brockway is The Gainesville Sun's Florida beat writer.
