Former Liverpool and England footballer Jamie Carragher 's daughter Mia is stepping into the spotlight as she takes a starring role in the first-ever live stage adaptation of The Hunger Games. The 21-year-old will make her debut as Katniss Everdeen - a role made famous by Oscar winning actress Jennifer Lawrence - on October 20, at Troubadour Theatre in London's Canary Wharf. On landing the coveted part, Mia said: 'I am so excited and honoured to be playing Katniss. 'This is a dream-come-true role, and I cannot wait to see the production come to life. 'From being a huge fan of the films, I feel so lucky to be a part of the Hunger Games world, especially working with Mathew Dunster and an incredible creative team.' Meanwhile, director Matthew Dunster, best known for 2:22 - A Ghost Story, Hangmen, and The Pillowman, added: 'We searched far and wide, and comprehensively, for our Katniss. 'We've found our Katniss in Mia Carragher, and we can't wait for audiences to see her.' The live theatrical production has been adapted by Conor McPherson from both Suzanne Collins's bestselling novel and Lionsgate's blockbuster film. Stacey Dooley and Strictly partner Kevin Clifton make exciting joint announcement
The couple have been together since they won Strictly in 2018. BBC Strictly professional Kevin Clifton has shared an update with fans over a huge 'first' with his long-term partner Stacey Dooley, seven years after the pair won the ITV show. The couple have lived a happy life together since they were dance partners on the 2018 series of Strictly, and they share a daughter together. Documentary journalist Stacey and dancer Kevin are set to work together for the first time since their Strictly triumph. The pair announced back in March that they are going to be hitting the stage together in the critically acclaimed, smash hit, supernatural thriller 2:22 - A Ghost Story. The play's extensive UK-wide tour opens at Manchester Opera House on August 4, and will continue through to November. There will be a second leg of the tour running from January 8 - June 20 2026, with casting to be announced, reports Manchester Evening News. Returning to the role of Jenny following a limited run at the Gielgud Theatre in 2024, Stacey will perform alongside Kevin who will play Jenny's husband, Sam. With just weeks to go until the tour opens, Kevin and Stacey have been seen heading into rehearsals. Alongside a picture of the pair on Instagram, former Strictly pro Kevin said: "Day 1 back working with this little fella again. Last time was 7 years ago @sjdooley @222aghoststory." And fans were quick to share their excitement. @bizzielizzie39 said: "Can't wait to watch you both in it, coming to Manchester next month." @andielcfcsutton wrote: "Can't wait to see you both in it." @kaz_evs commented: "Coming to see you in Bristol and am more than excited!" @susancronshaw added: "Looking forward to seeing you in August in Manchester." The news of the couple's rehearsing comes after Kevin opened up about what it could be like working with his real-life partner. Even though Stacey, 38, has learnt to leave her characters - including Jenny - at the stage door, Kevin, 42, has to "live and breath" his characters and, therefore, may bring Sam home with them. Speaking on the latest episode of the All That Chat podcast, Kevin admitted: "We're not a very argumentative couple - touch wood - we don't argue a lot. "I'm sure it'll be fine. But also, Stace and me are very different in that Stace can very much go do her job, do it great, and then leave it at the door and come home. "Whereas I'm a bit obsessive and I have to live and breathe the character. I'll probably bring the character home, which might get interesting. It could be the ending of us." Kevin thinks it will be tricky to act with Stacey on stage. He explained: "When it's your partner in front of you who knows everything about you and all your insecurities and then you start playing this character in front of them ... it's going to be weird. I'm going to have to get over doing it in front of Stace, and she's going to have to get over doing it in front of me." Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community!

Stacey Dooley announces huge milestone with partner Kevin Clifton after seven years
Stacey Dooley and Kevin Clifton - who won Strictly Come Dancing in 2018 - are set to reunite on stage for the first time since they were paired up in the ballroom Kevin Clifton has delighted fans with news of a significant 'first' with Stacey Dooley, seven years on from their triumphant Strictly Come Dancing victory. The loved-up pair have enjoyed a blissful life together since they partnered up and clinched the win on the popular BBC One dance show in 2018. Documentary presenter Stacey, 38, and professional dancer Kevin, 42, found love on the dance floor and after securing the Glitterball trophy, they made their relationship public. Their romance has since blossomed, leading to the birth of their daughter, Minnie. Now, for the first time since their Strictly triumph, they are preparing to collaborate professionally once again. Stacey and Kevin revealed in March that they'll be sharing the stage in the critically acclaimed, smash hit supernatural thriller 2:22 - A Ghost Story. The play is set to embark on another extensive tour across the UK, kicking off at Manchester Opera House on 4 August 2025, and running until November 2025. A second leg of the tour is scheduled from 8 January to 20 June 2026, with casting details yet to be announced. BBC favourite Stacey will reprise her role as Jenny, which she played during a limited run at the Gielgud Theatre in 2024. She'll perform alongside her partner Kevin, who will portray Jenny's husband, Sam. With just weeks remaining until the tour commences in Manchester, Kevin and Stacey have been spotted heading into rehearsals. Taking to Instagram with a snapshot of the duo, ex-Strictly star Kevin Clifton shared: "Day 1 back working with this little fella again. Last time was 7 years ago @sjdooley @222aghoststory." Their fans couldn't hold back their thrill, as one exclaimed: "Can't wait to watch you both in it, coming to Manchester next month." Likewise, another enthused: "Can't wait to see you both in it." Another fan shared their anticipation, saying: "Coming to see you in Bristol and am more than excited!" while another echoed similar sentiments: "Looking forward to seeing you in August in Manchester." This follows Kevin discussing the dynamic of working closely with his partner in real life. Although Stacey, at 38, is adept at shaking off her stage personas like Jenny once she's off-duty, Kevin immerses himself fully into his roles and humorously speculates that bringing his character Sam home might spell trouble for their romance. During his conversation on the latest All That Chat podcast episode, Kevin revealed: "We're not a very argumentative couple - touch wood - we don't argue a lot." He further remarked: "I'm sure it'll be fine. But also, Stace and me are very different in that Stace can very much go do her job, do it great, and then leave it at the door and come home." Kevin continued, underlining his more intense approach: "Whereas I'm a bit obsessive and I have to live and breathe the character. I'll probably bring the character home, which might get interesting. It could be the ending of us." Kevin voiced hesitations about performing alongside Stacey in a theatrical setting. He said: "When it's your partner in front of you who knows everything about you and all your insecurities and then you start playing this character in front of them ... it's going to be weird. I'm going to have to get over doing it in front of Stace, and she's going to have to get over doing it in front of me."

Tom Felton reprises Draco Malfoy character for Harry Potter play
Tom Felton is reprising his role as Draco Malfoy for the Harry Potter And The Cursed Child play in New York. The Surrey-born actor, who starred in all the film adaptations of JK Rowling's fantasy novel until the last movie in 2011, will make a comeback as Harry Potter's school bully on Broadway at the Lyric Theatre in New York later this year. Felton, 37, made his West End debut in the supernatural thriller 2:22 - A Ghost Story in 2022. He will begin his performance on 11 November for a limited 19 weeks in Harry Potter And The Cursed Child, the Instagram page for the production said on Thursday. The play, written by Adolescence co-creator Jack Thorne, began in 2016 in London and has had a Broadway run since 2018. It was co-devised by Rowling and is set 19 years after the events of the seventh and final book, with Ministry of Magic employee Harry and his wife Ginny Weasley waving off their youngest son Albus Severus to school. The two-part play, which stretches over five hours, sees Albus struggle at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry with the weight of his family legacy and go to extreme and dangerous lengths to right the wrongs of the past. Since the ending of the film franchise, Felton has been in 2011's Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes and had recurring roles in the TV series Murder In The First, The Flash and Origin. He has also used his voice in the Harry Potter video games, based on the movie, and featured in the special Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return To Hogwarts alongside Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson, who played Harry, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger.
