Caitlin Clark's Awkward Interaction With Boyfriend Goes Viral
Caitlin Clark's Awkward Interaction With Boyfriend Goes Viral originally appeared on The Spun. Caitlin Clark won't be competing in this weekend's WNBA All-Star Game, but she was at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Friday night for the 3-point contest and skills challenge. The former No. 1 pick from Iowa is currently dealing with a right groin injury. Although she's missing the All-Star Game this Saturday, she's expected to be on the sideline "coaching" her team. "I'm so excited for Indy to host WNBA All-Star this weekend. I know this will be the best All-Star yet," Clark said in a statement. "I am incredibly sad and disappointed to say I can't participate in the 3-Point Contest or the All-Star Game. I have to rest my body. I will still be at Gainbridge Fieldhouse for all the action and I'm looking forward to helping Sandy [Brondello] coach our team to a win." Unsurprisingly, Clark tried her best to hype up the crowd in Indy this Friday night. That being said, it was her interaction with her boyfriend that really stole the spotlight. Prior to the start of All-Star Weekend, the Indiana Fever guard was seen meeting up with Connor McCaffery in the tunnel at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. He gave her a kiss on the head as she walked away from him. This brief exchange between Clark and McCaffery received an awful lot of attention on social media. Some fans are wondering if there's tension behind the scenes. "He's definitely on borrowed time. Body language is quite awkward," one fan declared. "How do you even play this back and say yea I gotta hit the post button," a second fan wrote. "There's no way this relationship is real bro," another fan said. "Who's gonna tell him it's over?" a social media user commented. "Well that was awkward," another user wrote. Here's the video that everyone is talking about: For what it's worth, Clark celebrated McCaffery's birthday last weekend. She posted a heartfelt message about him on Instagram. "Happy happy happy birthday Con," she wrote. "You make everyday better and I couldn't be more grateful. May this be the best year yet, I love you." Clark and McCaffery have been together since April 2023. Despite all the online chatter, they appear to be going Clark's Awkward Interaction With Boyfriend Goes Viral first appeared on The Spun on Jul 19, 2025 This story was originally reported by The Spun on Jul 19, 2025, where it first appeared. With Caitlin Clark out, Sabrina Ionescu wins WNBA 3-point contest
In Caitlin Clark's absence from the WNBA All-Star game, Sabrina Ionescu won the 3-point contest on Friday night. Ionescu won the event for the second time in her career. The Liberty's star guard, who also won the title in 2023 with a record performance, had a strong final round, scoring 30 points to beat defending champion Allisha Gray. "It's fun, I was so excited for her, we were talking about it before we even came out here," Ionescu said. "About being able to participate in it together and cheer each other on." Ionescu's effort was less than her record-breaking mark of 37 two years ago, when she made 25 of 27 shots — the most ever in either the WNBA or NBA. The total of 30 matched the second-highest in the event, matching Allie Quigley's mark. Quigley is the only other player to win the contest more than once, doing it four times. Ionescu didn't participate in last year's WNBA All-Star 3-point contest as she was focused on getting ready for the Olympics. But she was in Indianapolis for the NBA one, competing against Steph Curry in a special shootout. She fell just short then, but wouldn't lose again in Indianapolis. "I called Steph and showed off the trophy," Ionescu said. Indiana Fever star Lexie Hull, who was a fill-in for Indiana teammate Caitlin Clark, who injured her right groin on Tuesday night, scored 20 points to finish fourth. Clark hyped up the crowd from the sideline before Hull's turn. Meanwhile, Ionescu's Liberty teammate Natasha Cloud won the skills competition. Cloud had the fastest time in the first round of the obstacle course that combines passing, dribbling and shooting. She needed to beat Seattle's Erica Wheeler's mark of 37.5 seconds in the finals. Cloud won despite missing all three of her shots from the corner over the windmill defender. She was able to get through the obstacle course in 36.4 seconds — 1.1 faster than Wheeler. Cloud received $55,000 from Aflac as part of a partnership with the WNBAPA. She also receives $2,575 from the league for the victory, which was part of the collective bargaining agreement. Ionescu earned $60,000 for her win from Aflac plus the $2,575 from the league. This was Cloud's first All-Star weekend appearance in her 11-year career. She had never been invited to compete in the skills contest or play in the All-Star Game. Follow Fox News Digital's sports coverage on X, and subscribe to the Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.

Lexie Hull Turns Heads With 'Stunning' All-Star Weekend Outfit
Lexie Hull Turns Heads With 'Stunning' All-Star Weekend Outfit originally appeared on The Spun. Indiana Fever guard Lexie Hull appears to have everyone's attention this All-Star weekend. Hull is having a productive season with the Fever, averaging 7.6 points, 4.7 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 1.1 steals per game. She's one of several players on Indiana's roster that has stepped up during Caitlin Clark's absence this year. Speaking of Clark, she announced on Thursday that she'd miss the WNBA All-Star Game and the 3-point contest due to her right groin injury. "I'm so excited for Indy to host WNBA All-Star this weekend. I know this will be the best All-Star yet," Clark said in a statement. "I am incredibly sad and disappointed to say I can't participate in the 3-Point Contest or the All-Star Game. I have to rest my body. I will still be at Gainbridge Fieldhouse for all the action and I'm looking forward to helping Sandy [Brondello] coach our team to a win." It was revealed that Hull will take Clark's place in the 3-point contests. That's a good choice considering she's making 46.8 percent of her attempts from downtown this season. Hull didn't wait until Friday's 3-point contest to go viral. During Thursday night's Orange Carpet event for All-Star Weekend, she wore a black dress that turned plenty of heads. Unsurprisingly, Hull received plenty of love from her fans online. "Lexie is looking good," one fan said. "Sooo pretty," a second fan wrote on X. "She looks so good omg," another fan commented. Hull is hoping to win her first 3-point contest in front of the home fans at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. She'll have to go up against Atlanta Dream guard Allisha Gray, New York Liberty star Sabrina Ionescu, Los Angeles Sparks guard Kelsey Plum and Washington Mystics guard Sonia Citron. The 3-point contest will be televised on ESPN at 8 p.m. ET. Ionescu, Cloud carry Liberty torch in WNBA 3-point, skills contests
INDIANAPOLIS :Liberty teammates Sabrina Ionescu and Natasha Cloud swept the opening night of the WNBA All-Star weekend in Indianapolis on Friday, winning the 3-Point Contest and Skills Challenge, respectively, to bring more hardware to New York. Ionescu made 11 straight shots en route to her second career title in the event, obliterating the defending champion Allisha Gray with 30 points, after Cloud sprinted through the passing-and-shooting gauntlet earlier in the evening. It was another high point for the new teammates, after Cloud signed with the defending champions in the off-season and immediately made an impact, helping New York to the top of the Eastern Conference standings. "She continues to bring a different element to our team every single night," said Liberty captain Ionescu. "Her kind of willingness to do everything, whatever it takes, for the team to win is what she's going to be able to do every single night. It takes a pro's pro to be able to do that." Fans poured into Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Friday for the prelude to Saturday's All-Star Game, where Cloud brought the house down as she edged Seattle Storm's Erica Wheeler by 1.1 seconds in the Skills Challenge to walk away $55,000 richer. She kissed her teammate and girlfriend Isabelle Harrison on the sideline after taking the prize, later promising the purse would go toward a down payment on a home together. "Baby, you're gonna get that house," Cloud said. The moment was validation for Cloud, who was included in the event despite being passed up for the All-Star roster yet again. "I'm meant to be here, meant to be on this level, I'm confident in who I am, I know who I am, and whether I get the flowers or not, I do my job," said Cloud. She stayed on the sidelines to cheer on Ionescu, who had a target on her back after winning the 3-Point Contest with a record-breaking 37 points two years ago and nervously wiped her hands on her jersey before picking up the first ball. She came up short of her record mark but dazzled with a series of clutch baskets and later said she had promised half her prize to fellow competitor Sonia Citron, a rookie for the Washington Mystics.
