KFH: Pioneering National Economic Support for State Development Goals

KUWAIT CITY, May 18: Kuwait Finance House (KFH) participated as a Platinum Sponsor of the 3rd ‎Kuwait Public Private Partnership conference (PPPKW3), affirming its ‎standing as a key partner in financing strategic development projects. This ‎sponsorship reflects KFH's commitment to supporting initiatives that ‎advance major projects contributing to the achievement of Sustainable ‎Development Goals in Kuwait.‎ The two-day event, taking place on May 18 and 19, is titled: 'Partnership ‎Projects: Promising Leap in the New Era'. The conference is held under the ‎patronage of Kuwait Minister of Finance, Minister of State for Economic ‎and Affairs and Investment, and Chair of the Higher Committee for Public-‎Private Partnership Projects, Noura Al-Fassam.‎ Addressing the audience, KFH Deputy Group CEO Transformation, ‎Technology and Operations, Haytham Alterkait, said in his speech: 'Our ‎participation emanates from KFH's national and economic commitment in ‎supporting the State's development plans, capitalizing on its capabilities to ‎enhance the economic environment, promote green financing, and uphold ‎Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) standards.'‎ Alterkait pointed out that KFH enjoys robustsolvency and is well-positioned ‎to finance mega projects across key sectors such as energy, water, ‎electricity, and infrastructure. 'This is supported by the KFH's extensive ‎experience, solid financial position, high-quality credit portfolio, and its ‎position as the largest bank in Kuwait and the largest listed company on ‎Boursa Kuwait by market capitalization, amounting to approximately KD ‎‎13.7 billion,' he added.‎ Alterkait underscored the significance of the Public-Private Partnership ‎Projects in strengthening the national economy, generating employment ‎opportunities, improving quality of life and maintaining service quality. He ‎emphasized the private sector's expertise in financing, building, and ‎operating projects in alignment with Kuwait Vision 2035, expressing ‎confidence in the government's ability to build a better future for Kuwait.‎ The conference aims to accelerate the implementation of development ‎projects and Kuwait's vision by engaging the private sector in execution ‎plans. This aligns with the global trend, where both developed and ‎developing countries adopt the PPP model as a means of concerted efforts ‎for national progress. The model ensures optimal utilization of both sectors' ‎capabilities.‎ The conference also seeks to promote capacities across various technical ‎domains and clarify the responsibilities of each sector. Adhering to ‎international standards, the PPP approach enables the attraction of top ‎global, regional, and local expertise, enhancing the execution of projects ‎with best-in-class tools and frameworks for professional, technological, and ‎legal development, in line with international specifications and sound ‎governance.‎ Meanwhile, the conference successfully brought together prominent ‎leaders and experts in the PPP space, along with key institutions from both ‎the public and private sectors. Oman Sail celebrates two gold medals in GCC Beach Games

Muscat: Oman Sail is celebrating two gold medals at the 3rd Edition of the GCC Beach Games held at Al Mouj Muscat from 5-11 April 2025. This achievement by Oman Sail athletes in the Oman National Sailing team was accompanied by two silver medals, two bronze medals and team silver in the Optimist team racing. Abdullatif Al Qasmi notched two wins on his way to victory in the ILCA 4 competition, topping the table by three points. He also finished top of the Boys Fleet, where teammate Tamim Al Balushi finished third – claiming fourth overall. Mohamed Al Marzooqi of UAE finished second and Marwa Al Hammadi third, finishing as the highest placed female sailor to win the Girls Fleet. Both Abdullatif Al Qasmi and Tamim Al Balushi were selected earlier this year to be part of the newly-formed ASYAD Sailing Team and compete in national, regional and international regattas. Al Moatasem Al Farsi started and finished strongly with two wins in the ILCA 6 competition, finishing third overall. Teammates Al Salem Al Hamdani and Ibtisam Al Salmi finished 8th and 11th respectively. Othman Al Hammadi of UAE won three of the six races to take gold, while Dawood Sadeq from Bahrain finished second. Hussain Al Jabri cruised to victory in the ILCA 7 race, winning four of the six races to win by five points. Adil Al Bastaki from UAE won the first race and secured second place, and Ahmed Al Sadiq from Bahrain won the last race to finish third. Hussain Al Jabri's four successive wins in between allowed him to claim the medal with one race to go. Teammate Ali Al Saadi finished fifth, level on points with fourth place. Oman performed well in the largest fleet of the Games, the Optimist competition, with Khamis Al Mashaikhi claiming silver after three second places, Tarteel Al Hasani finishing third, and Hood Al Nofli finishing fourth. Mohammed Al Qasmi finished 8th – second in the Junior Division - while Tarteel Al Hasani was the highest performing sailor in the Girls Fleet and Hadeel Al Mushaifri, 12th overall, finished fourth. These results earned Oman second place in the Optimist Team Racing. UAE took gold while Kuwait won bronze. The team was led by Hashim Al Rashdi, Oman Sail's Head Coach of Performance, alongside Sultan Al Zadjali, Optimist Coach, and Ahmed Al Saadi, ILCA Coach. Hashim Al Rashdi, Oman Sail's Head Coach of Performance, said, 'The GCC Beach Games was a very successful regatta for our sailors. The medals, performances and improvement across the entire team was very pleasing and proof that our methods are working. The competition is always at a high level and gives our sailors valuable experience against their peers from across the region. We were especially happy with the team spirit and attitude displayed by the team who supported and inspired each other to put in medal winning performances.' The 3rd GCC Beach Games was organised by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, and the Oman Olympic Committee. The six-day event brought together 335 athletes across 46 events.

The event aimed to honor veterans and their families and connect them to local resources. Some veteran-owned vendors were also on site, selling their products. SEE ALSO: Daytime LIVE at the 3rd annual Appalachian Veteran Fair The event is organized by the non-profit Warrior's Canvas & Veterans Art Center. Organizer Maria Whiston told News Channel 11 that the event gives veterans and their family members a chance to socialize with others who have served and live nearby. 'This is where everyone gets a chance to meet each other,' she said. 'There are hundreds and hundreds of veterans here today, and they are getting a chance to support one another. But it's not only the veterans, it's the veteran family members.' Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed.

U.S Sen. Tim Kaine receives update on Virginia Creeper Trail in Damascus

DAMASCUS, Va. (WJHL)—Steady progress is being made on repairing the Virginia Creeper Trail and state roads in the Town of Damascus. On Friday morning, town and forest officials updated United States Senator Tim Kaine (D-Va.). Kaine returned to Damascus to see firsthand the work being done on the Creeper Trail. However, damage made portions of the trail inaccessible for months. 'I saw today what I hadn't seen before because I couldn't get up there before, which is the damage along the trail up Route 58 along the Creeper,' Kaine said. The Virginia Department of Transportation's work made access to Route 58 possible. However, the rest of Route 58 must be completed before further trail work can be done. Vendors needed for 3rd annual Masonry Field Day 'The key to it is to get [Route] 58 reopened,' Kaine said. 'Because without 58 open, you don't have access to some of the parts of the trail to get them repaired or even to remove debris.' Kaine's dedication to the trail helped lead to a trail restoration package, which U.S. Forest Service officials said has been used well. 'The dollars need to know,' Kaine said. 'That was the main question I had when I came today, 'Are they flowing?' And what we heard today was good news, that the challenges going ahead are less about dollars flowing than just about [how] there's just so much work to do and which piece do you do first.' Damascus Mayor Katie Lamb said Kaine's dedication to the trail and the town has been vital to its recovery. 'He's always so kind and caring,' Lamb said. 'It's just really great to get the publicity and the attention that we need to get the Creeper Trail and 58 back.' The U.S. Forest Service said they're also grateful for the support of Kaine and other Government officials. 'That support has been tremendous and continues to be,' said Edward Wright, Area Ranger for the Mt. Rodgers National Recreation Area. 'And will continue in the future, of course.' VDOT said they hope to have Route 58 complete in May, just in time for Damascus Trail Days. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
