M'sian-Born Actor Zhang Yaodong Spotted Taking Shifts At Hawker Stall In Singapore
Spotting your favourite celebrity in public is like spotting a rare Pokémon in the wild, especially when they're doing some pretty mundane tasks. As most celebrities prefer to keep out of the public spotlight, it's easy to forget that these individuals are just regular people like us. Malaysian-born actor Zhang Yaodong (张耀栋) was spotted yesterday (4th June 2025) at a kopitiam in Singapore, where he looks to be manning a steamed seafood stall. It was revealed by a user on Xiaohongshu that the stall belonged to Zhang Yaodong and the actor was taking an employee's shift who had resigned. Clad in a basic white tee and glasses, the actor looked to be taking orders from customers while standing behind the cash register of the stall located at Tampines Industrial Park Kopitiam. Despite the crowd, the original poster noted that Zhang was polite and praised his actions. Some also brought up his recent scandal, saying that there is nothing better than fixing one's behaviour after committing a mistake. Zhang Yaodong isn't a stranger to the hawker stall business as he has ventured into multiple F&B businesses since his parents used to be hawkers. The actor used to run a catering business, a roast meat stall, as well as a bee noodle store in Kuala Lumpur. Additionally, he opened an Asian fusion restaurant called 'Maru' in Tanjong Pagar in in 2017, but it has since closed down. Almost a year prior to this, Zhang Yaodong was caught up in messy allegations where he impregnated multiple women. The actor has never denied nor confirmed these rumours. The actor has since revealed in November that he has two daughters (as shown above), and deeply regrets not having been there for them earlier in their childhood. Singer spends $33 million to buy ‘a whole street of houses' in popular beach city
Taiwanese singer Richie Ren has reportedly spent more than $33 million to buy 'a whole street of houses' in China. According to a report in The Star, the 58-year-old bought a row of houses in Qingdao, a popular Chinese beach destination known for its European-style architecture. Qingdao is a major city in eastern China, located in Shandong Province on the coast of the Yellow Sea. It was a German colony from 1898 to 1914, and its architecture still reflects that influence. It is known for clean beaches, seaside promenades, and hilly landscapes, as well as its towering skyscrapers. Sometimes known as China's 'European city', Qingdao is known for its stunning bays and vibrant coastal atmosphere. In fact, it was reportedly this very atmosphere that drew Richie Ren to the city. Richie Ren (also spelled Richie Jen) is a popular Taiwanese singer and actor who rose to fame in the 1990s and early 2000s. His breakthrough album – Too Softhearted – sold over a million copies in China in 1996. This isn't Richie Ren's first major foray into real estate. According to a report in the entertainment portal 8days, the Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow? star made notable property investments as far back as 1996, when he purchased several homes in Hong Kong's upscale Ho Man Tin neighbourhood. He later sold them for a profit of NT$89 million ($3 million USD approximately). Ren also profited handsomely from the sale of three office units in the Southmark building in Hong Kong, reportedly earning NT$220 million from the deal. #SHOWBIZ: Ekin Cheng won't reprise 'Young And Dangerous' role, not even for RM4 million
HONG KONG: Hong Kong actor Ekin Cheng is best known for his iconic role as Chan Ho Nam in the cult triad series, Young And Dangerous. The first film began in 1996 and wrapped up with its sixth instalment in 2000. Despite the franchise's popularity, Cheng, 57, has repeatedly turned down offers to return – even when directors and producers were willing to meet all his conditions. According to entertainment portal 8days, Cheng has been approached numerous times over the years by different film companies eager to revive the franchise. But the star remained firm in his decision, citing issues with the plot as the reason. Still, producers tried to sweeten the deal by offering him creative control and inviting his favourite Chinese badminton player, Lin Dan, to make a cameo. Cheng was even offered RM3.83million for just one day of filming. HK film producer Manfred Wong said: "No matter what was offered, Ekin just would not do it."

But the star remained firm in his decision, citing issues with the plot as one of the reasons he refused to return. Still, producers didn't give up. They tried to sweeten the deal by offering him creative control and inviting his favourite Chinese badminton player, Lin Dan, to make a cameo. Still, he declined. According to the report, Cheng was even offered S$1.17mil (RM3.83mil) for just one day of filming. HK film producer Manfred Wong said: 'No matter what was offered, Ekin just wouldn't do it. The filmmakers didn't believe he'd refuse, so they offered him S$1.17mil.' Well, needless to say, he still said no.

The 58-year-old star, who is set to perform in Malaysia on June 14 and 15, reportedly spent NT$1bil (RM140.07mil) on 'a whole street of houses' in Qingdao, China. The Taiwanese media reported that Ren was drawn to the coastal city's vibrant atmosphere. Qingdao is a popular tourist destination, famed for its scenic bays. According to entertainment portal 8days, this isn't Ren's first major real estate move. Back in 1996, the Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow? star purchased several homes in the luxury residential district of Ho Man Tin, Hong Kong. He later sold them for a profit of NT$89mil (RM12.45mil). Ren also made a tidy sum from selling three office units in Hong Kong's Southmark building, reportedly earning NT$220mil (RM30.80mil). In China, he is said to own additional properties in Shanghai and Changsha, further cementing his status as a savvy real estate investor.
