CBI arrests BSF accounts officer in Delhi for accepting Rs 40,000 bribe to clear arrears

NEW DELHI: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Saturday said it has apprehended an Assistant Accounts Officer (AAO) of the Pay and Accounts Office (PAO) within the Border Security Force (BSF) in Delhi, while accepting a bribe of Rs. 40,000 from the complainant. Official sources in the CBI said that the agency registered the case on Friday against the accused AAO, PAO Office, BSF, Delhi and other unknown persons on the basis of a complaint filed by the complainant for clearing the pay & arrears bills. The accused, Dharmendra Kumar was caught red-handed during a trap laid by the CBI following the complaint from Mahesh Singh, a pharmacist with the 16 Battalion of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) stationed in Dwarka, the officials said. In his complaint, Mahesh Singh alleged that Kumar Verma demanded a 15–20 percent cut – amounting to nearly Rs 2 lakh - from the arrears due to him, in exchange for clearing the bills, the officials said, adding that the bribe demand was allegedly made via social media on July 16, when Singh reached out to inquire about the delay in processing his arrears.

SOG probes role of Dadhich, 2 aides in other job rackets

Jaipur: Special Operations Group (SOG) is investigating whether assistant accounts officer (AAO) Purushottam Dadhich and his two aides, arrested in June in the 2021 sub-inspector (SI) recruitment exam paper leak case, were also involved in other organised examination frauds. Officials said Dadhich, along with Kundan Kumar Pandya (also an AAO) and Sandeep Kumar Lata, a Grade III teacher, had close links with Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) member Babu Lal Katara, who was previously arrested in another high-profile paper leak case. The three were arrested by the SOG on June 5 in connection with the SI exam leak. Investigators now suspect the trio may be part of a wider network involved in multiple exam cheating operations. As reported earlier, Katara allegedly handed over six sets of SI 2021 question papers to fellow RPSC member Ramu Ram Raika. These papers were later leaked to Dadhich, who allegedly circulated them for profit almost a month before the exam. SOG sources added that Katara was earlier arrested for leaking the question paper of the senior teacher recruitment exam held in 2022. The recurrence of such leaks has raised questions about the possible deeper involvement of Dadhich and his network in other RPSC-linked exam frauds. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Memperdagangkan CFD Emas dengan salah satu spread terendah? Investigators are also preparing to question additional suspects believed to have accessed or benefited from leaked papers. Officials said Katara's association with Dadhich during his posting in Udaipur may have enabled access to sensitive exam materials. "Our focus is to identify those who received the leaked SI papers and determine how long the accused accessed the question papers," the official added.

Rajasthan State employee who was detained earlier arrested for espionage

The Rajasthan Police's intelligence unit has arrested a State government employee on charges of spying for Pakistan. He had been under surveillance for suspicious activities for an extended period. The accused, Shakur Khan, was earlier detained on May 28 and subjected to an intensive interrogation by multiple agencies. Khan, 49, working as an assistant administrative officer (AAO) at the district employment office in Jaisalmer, was allegedly passing sensitive and strategic information to his handlers in Pakistan. He obtained Pakistani visas on several occasions and travelled to Pakistan without reporting to higher authorities. Inspector General of Police (Security) Vishnu Kant said here on Tuesday that Khan was in regular contact with some individuals working at the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi, especially Ahsan-ur-Rahim, alias Danish, and Sohail Qamar. Danish was declared persona non grata by the Union government last month and was asked to leave India immediately. 'During his visits to Pakistan, Khan came in contact with the agents of the Inter-Service Intelligence (ISI). He collected sensitive information after returning to India and transmitted it to his Pakistani handlers through WhatsApp and other social media platforms,' Mr. Kant said in a statement. Khan had access to sensitive documents while working in the border district of Jaisalmer. Since the matter constituted a serious security breach, a case was registered under the Official Secrets Act, 1923, and Khan was arrested, Mr. Kant said. A court in Jaipur, where Khan was produced under strict security on Tuesday, remanded him to police custody for seven days. Pakistani contacts As per the first information report, Khan had several Pakistani phone numbers saved in his three mobile phones, which have been seized and sent for technical analysis. He allegedly shared strategically important videos and images with his handlers on these numbers, but this material had been deleted. A native of Mangliyon Ki Dhani hamlet in Jaisalmer district's Badoda Gaon village, Khan served as a personal assistant to former Minister Saleh Mohammed during the previous Congress regime. Khan's association with Mr. Mohammed has led to a political controversy since his detention. Pradesh Congress Committee president Govind Singh Dotasra said being a personal assistant to a Minister did not constitute a valid ground to implicate the Minister or his family in a crime. 'We have nothing to do with any criminal or anti-national activity. If the police have received some inputs, they should investigate and take action against the accused,' Mr. Dotasra said.

Rajasthan government employee arrested for 'spying' for Pakistan

A Rajasthan government employee who was earlier detained on suspicion of espionage for Pakistan has now been arrested, the police said on Tuesday. Shakur Khan, an Assistant Administrative Officer (AAO) posted at the Jaisalmer employment office had allegedly been passing sensitive, strategic information to Pakistan, they said. The government employee had been under surveillance for suspicious activities over an extended period. During monitoring, agencies discovered that he was in regular contact with individuals linked to the Pakistan High Commission, particularly Ahsan-ur-Rahim alias Danish and Sohail Qamar, Inspector General (CID-Security) Vishnu Kant Gupta said. "Khan was taken into custody for questioning a few days ago and was interrogated extensively at the central interrogation facility in Jaipur by multiple intelligence agencies," Gupta said in a statement. He further shared that Khan had obtained Pakistani visas on several occasions and travelled to Pakistan, allegedly with the assistance of Danish. Investigations revealed that during his visits, Khan came in contact with agents of Pakistan's spy agency ISI. He has also been accused of collecting sensitive information upon return to India and transmitting it to Pakistani handlers through platforms such as WhatsApp. Gupta noted that the case constitutes a serious security breach under the Official Secrets Act, 1923. "A case has been registered, and Khan has been arrested under relevant sections of the Act," he said. While the police declined to comment on Khan's alleged political links, sources said he had previously worked as a personal assistant (PA) to former Congress minister Shale Mohammad, a detail that recently sparked political controversy.
