Mahindra Racing's Kush Maini and TAG Heuer Porsche's Ayhancan Güven followed closely behind Minì in the two sessions, respectively. Top performers Gabriele Minì and Kush Maini reflect on Berlin Rookie Test The highly competitive test saw all 22 drivers separated by a mere 1.5 seconds, as teams ramped up their development programs with rookie talent. Collectively, more than 1,000 laps were completed over the course of the day. Sharing a few pictures from Berlin, Gabriele Minì wrote on Instagram, 'Fastest in Berlin. Very happy about the Rookie Test: a productive day with 96 laps covered, multiple race simulations, quali runs, and we set the overall fastest time of the whole #BerlinEPrix weekend. Thanks @nismo for this year's second opportunity after FP0 in Jeddah and for these brilliant days together.' Indian driver Kush Maini, fresh off his historic FIA Formula 2 win, continued to impress in Mahindra's GEN3 Evo machine by securing the second-fastest time of the day. He appeared pleased with his performance in both sessions, finishing second in the morning and third in the afternoon. Reflecting on his experience with Mahindra Racing, he said, 'I think it was a very strong day overall. We always made progress, and the team gathered some good data for London. Obviously, it's a different track, so we tested a lot of things. In the morning, we focused on 350kW runs, and in the afternoon, more on race runs. Whatever the run, we were always in the top three and really fast, so a good step was made. Whenever I get into this car, I leave with a smile on my face. ' Jak Crawford and Abbi Pulling share their Berlin Rookie Test experience American F2 race winner Jak Crawford also made a notable rookie return, claiming third place in the morning session while driving for Andretti. Sharing his thoughts, he said, 'It was a great day testing in Berlin. I feel like we really got the opportunity to try a lot of setup items and gain a solid understanding of everything. It felt good to be back in the car, and I was able to get up to speed right from the start, which really helped us begin working on things early in the session. Hopefully, the work pays off and the team can deliver a strong result in London.' Abbi Pulling, one of the women drivers in the Berlin Rookie Test, drove for Nissan. She looked content with the day's progress and said, 'It was a great day—very productive—and we achieved everything the team needed. I'm happy to take on this new role with the Nissan Formula E Team, as it's created a new pathway for me to experience machinery at the World Championship level. The NEOM McLaren Formula E Team and Oxagon unveil special edition livery for the London E-Prix
The NEOM McLaren Formula E Team has today revealed a striking new livery for the season finale of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship in London on July 26-27. Unveiled at McLaren Racing Live: London, a two-day fan experience in Trafalgar Square, the new design reimagines the team's regular season livery, retaining its key design elements but reworked into a striking blue 'away kit', creatively expressing the ambition of Oxagon, NEOM's reimagined industrial city. The partnership between Oxagon and the NEOM McLaren Formula E Team highlights the power of strategic collaboration to drive meaningful change. By combining McLaren's desire for pushing boundaries of innovation with Oxagon's vision for advanced and clean industries, the two organizations are working to redefine how technology and design converge to shape the future of industry – within NEOM and beyond. Developed between the two brands, the livery introduces dynamic new colors inspired by Oxagon, while retaining the signature papaya elements that define McLaren Racing's visual identity. This distinctive design will also feature on the race suits and helmets of drivers Sam Bird and Taylor Barnard. 'This special edition livery offers a fresh take on our existing design — a purposeful 'alternate' livery that shines a light on Oxagon, one of NEOM's key regions,' said Ian James, Managing Director and Team Principal, McLaren Electric Racing. 'It represents more than bold visuals; it symbolizes a partnership rooted in innovation, collaboration and real-world industrial transformation.' 'Our work with the NEOM McLaren Formula E Team demonstrates how cross-industry partnerships can accelerate sustainable transformation,' said Vishal Wanchoo, CEO of Oxagon. 'By combining McLaren's performance and efficiency with Oxagon's vision for clean, connected manufacturing, we're advancing the kind of innovation that is shaping the future of industry.' From autonomous mobility to smart logistics and supply chain innovation, the program has already led to pilot projects within NEOM and commercial opportunities across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. In 2024, out of seven companies, four were shortlisted to pilot their technologies in the port on HSE, robotic container handling and condition-based predictive maintenance. Established in 2022, the partnership between NEOM and McLaren Electric Racing extends beyond motorsport sponsorship to reflect a shared drive for high performance, innovation and the development of future talent. Revealed in London and inspired by Oxagon, the livery captures the spirit of the partnership and its role in advancing progress through design, technology and shared values.

Do front row starts matter in Formula E? Oliver Rowland's dominance says yes
Image credit: Oliver Rowland/Instagram Does pole position — or a front row start — guarantee a win? Well, in most cases, it does. If not, it at least enables the driver to finish the race on the podium or earn some points to add to their score in the Driver Standings. This season, it's Nissan's Oliver Rowland who has clinched five front row starts and is leading the 2025 Formula E Driver Standings. He is far ahead of the competition and is almost certain to have secured the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship title this year. Formula E drivers with the most front row starts Oliver Rowland is far ahead of the competition at the top of the Formula E Driver Standings with 172 points. He has taken pole twice and started on the front row in three other races this year. There is hardly any scenario in which anyone can beat him in the remaining four races — except one. If Pascal Wehrlein, who is second in the Driver Standings, wins and Rowland fails to score any points, then only can Rowland's top spot be challenged. However, that is highly unlikely, and Rowland will most probably lift the world championship trophy in London with ease. TAG Heuer Porsche driver Pascal Wehrlein has three front row starts, including two poles. This suggests that front row starts do play a major role in a driver's chances of a podium finish. Pascal, however, is behind Taylor Barnard, who has delivered the most impressive performance on track this year. The NEOM McLaren driver recorded four front row starts, including two poles this season. He already has four podium finishes in what can be considered his first year as a full-time Formula E driver. Meanwhile, DS Penske driver Maximilian Gunther, TAG Heuer Porsche's Antonio Felix da Costa, and Andretti's Jake Dennis have two front row starts each this season. Among others who have grabbed pole position are Nissan's Norman Nato, Mahindra Racing's Nyck de Vries, Cupra Kiro's Dan Ticktum, and Jaguar TCS Racing's Nick Cassidy.
