Apple teases 'Slow Horses' season 5 first look and a 'Ted Lasso' star joins the cast

Are we about to get a "Slow Horses" season 5 and "Ted Lasso" crossover episode? Probably not, but Apple did just announce that one member of the AFC Richmond team will be a guest star in the upcoming season of the hit Apple TV Plus British spy thriller. In a press release, the tech giant's streaming service revealed that Nick Mohammed will be joining "Slow Horses" season 5 in an unknown guest starring role. This came alongside a release date announcement that confirmed a Wednesday, September 24 release date for season 5. I'm very curious to see what role Mohammed will play in the upcoming season of what's frankly been the best show on TV over the past several years. In "Ted Lasso," he showed the ability to play the good guy and the villain, and I wouldn't be surprised to see him go in either direction. Whatever role he plays, though, it'll likely only be a brief appearance. That doesn't mean it won't be impactful, but the fact that he's listed as a "special guest star" indicates it won't be a regular role this season — though he could feature in future installments. A recent example of this is Kaitlyn Dever in "The Last of Us" season 2, who was a guest star and made a huge impact on the show, but only appeared in a handful of scenes across three episodes. Yet, Dever will play a bigger role in "The Last of Us" season 3. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. Alongside the release date and casting announcement, we also got a first look at Gary Oldman as Jackson Lamb in season 5. Lamb will, unsurprisingly, lead "Slow Horses" season 5, which is an adaptation of Mick Herron's fifth novel in the "Slough House" series, "London Rules." Apple's official synopsis reads: "In season 5 of 'Slow Horses,' everyone is suspicious when resident tech nerd Roddy Ho has a glamorous new girlfriend, but when a series of increasingly bizarre events occur across the city, it falls to the Slow Horses to work out how everything is connected. After all, Jackson Lamb knows that in the world of espionage, 'London Rules' should always apply." Malcolm has been with Tom's Guide since 2022, and has been covering the latest in streaming shows and movies since 2023. He's not one to shy away from a hot take, including that "John Wick" is one of the four greatest films ever made. Here's what he's been watching lately:

Ted Lasso Season 4: Release date speculation, cast and plot details – Everything we know so far

By Aman Shukla Published on June 3, 2025, 19:15 IST Last updated June 3, 2025, 16:44 IST The beloved Apple TV+ comedy series Ted Lasso is officially returning for a fourth season, reigniting excitement among fans worldwide. After a seemingly conclusive Season 3 finale in May 2023, where Ted returned to Kansas to be with his son, the announcement of Season 4 has sparked curiosity about release dates, returning cast members, and potential plotlines. Here's everything we know so far about Ted Lasso Season 4. Ted Lasso Season 4 Potential Release Date As of June 3, 2025, Apple TV+ has not announced an official release date for Ted Lasso Season 4. However, production is reportedly set to begin in July 2025, with filming taking place in Kansas City and the UK. Given the timeline of previous seasons—Season 3 began filming in March 2022 and premiered in March 2023—a similar pattern suggests a potential release in late 2025 or early 2026. Ted Lasso Season 4 Expected Cast The heart of Ted Lasso lies in its ensemble cast, and several key players are expected to return for Season 4. Here's the latest on the cast: Confirmed Returning Cast Jason Sudeikis as Ted Lasso : The optimistic coach is back, with Sudeikis reprising his Emmy-winning role and serving as an executive producer and co-writer. Hannah Waddingham as Rebecca Welton : The AFC Richmond owner is likely to return, with Apple securing options for Waddingham, per reports from August 2024. Brett Goldstein as Roy Kent : Goldstein is confirmed to return as a writer and executive producer, strongly suggesting he'll reprise his role as the gruff yet lovable coach. Jeremy Swift as Leslie Higgins : Options have been picked up for Swift, hinting at the return of AFC Richmond's supportive director of football operations. Juno Temple as Keeley Jones: Temple is in talks to return, potentially continuing her journey as a PR maven and key figure in AFC Richmond's orbit. Ted Lasso Season 4 Potential Plot While specific plot details remain scarce, hints from cast and creators offer clues about Season 4's direction: Ted Coaching a Women's Team: Jason Sudeikis revealed on the New Heights podcast with Travis and Jason Kelce that Ted will coach a women's soccer team. Nick Mohammed echoed this on the Chris Moyles Show, confirming Ted's return to Richmond to lead the AFC Richmond Women's Team, a concept teased by Keeley's proposal in the Season 3 finale. AFC Richmond's Journey: With Ted back in the U.S. at the end of Season 3, Season 4 may split focus between Kansas and the UK. AFC Richmond qualified for the Champions League, a prestigious tournament mentioned in Season 3, Episode 12. This could see Roy, Nate, and Beard leading the men's team to European glory. Loose Ends: Keeley's PR firm and her unresolved love triangle with Roy and Jamie, Rebecca's leadership of AFC Richmond, and Nate's return to the fold as an assistant coach or kit man offer rich subplots for Season 4.
