IIT Guwahati launches 4-year biomedical science programme, admissions begin soon
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati has launched a new four-year Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Biomedical Science and Engineering. The course will be conducted by the Jyoti and Bhupat Mehta School of Health Sciences and Technology (JBMSHST).This course incorporates the expertise of IIT Guwahati, AIIMS Guwahati, and NIPER Guwahati. Practical learning, experience in clinics, and special subjects that connect medicine and technology are what students will learn. What makes this course special is the emphasis on learning through actual experience with doctors and launch ceremony was witnessed by several experienced scholars such as IIT Guwahati Director Prof. Devendra Jalihal, AIIMS Guwahati Director Prof. Ashok Puranik, and NIPER Guwahati Director Professor USN Murty.
Participants from the Mehta Family Foundation (USA), who are sponsoring this cause, joined Jalihal explained that the course is for those who are keen to address real health issues with engineering and medicine. He added that this course is designed to prepare professionals to come up with new healthcare AND ELIGIBILITY DETAILSApplications for the course will be open from April 25, 2025, to May 25, 2025. Students who are interested in this course can check the IIT Guwahati website for course includes topics such as bioinstrumentation, sensors, wearable devices, and AI in medicine. One can opt for further study in advanced topics such as neuroscience and personalised medicine after three be eligible, the students should have already cleared Class 12 in 2024 or 2025 with Physics, Chemistry, Maths, and Biology, and should obtain a minimum of 75% marks. Students who clear the IISER Aptitude Test 2025 are also new course is designed to produce a new generation of health professionals who will be able to contribute meaningfully to the health and medical field.
