Trump reveals Epstein fallout over Mar-a-Lago spa staff poaching

ABOARD AIR FORCE ONE: US President Donald Trump disclosed that his falling out with Jeffrey Epstein stemmed from the financier poaching staff from the Mar-a-Lago spa, including Virginia Giuffre, who later accused Prince Andrew of sexual assault. Trump, speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One, said Epstein repeatedly hired away spa employees despite warnings. 'People were taken out of the spa, hired by him, in other words gone,' Trump said. 'When I heard about it, I told him, 'We don't want you taking our people.'' He confirmed Giuffre, who died by suicide in April, was among those recruited by Epstein. 'I think she worked at the spa. He stole her,' Trump added. The White House previously stated Trump banned Epstein from Mar-a-Lago decades ago 'for being a creep.' Meanwhile, Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein's imprisoned associate, has offered to testify before Congress if granted clemency or immunity. Her lawyers stated she would testify 'openly and honestly' under protection but would otherwise invoke the Fifth Amendment. The Justice Department recently interviewed Maxwell, though details remain undisclosed. The Supreme Court's pending decision on her appeal could further delay any testimony. - AFP

Trump says US will start talks with China on TikTok deal this week

ABOARD AIR FORCE ONE: U.S. President Donald Trump said on Friday he will start talking to China on Monday or Tuesday about a possible TikTok deal. He said the United States 'pretty much' has a deal on the sale of the TikTok short-video app. 'I think we're gonna start Monday or to China, perhaps President Xi or one of his representatives, but we would we pretty much have a deal,' Trump told reporters on Air Force One. Last month, Trump extended to September 17 a deadline for China-based ByteDance to divest the U.S. assets of TikTok. A deal had been in the works this spring to spin off TikTok's U.S. operations into a new U.S.-based firm, majority-owned and operated by U.S. investors, but it was put on hold after China indicated it would not approve it following Trump's announcements of steep tariffs on Chinese goods. Trump said the United States will probably have to get a deal approved by China. When asked how confident he was that China would agree to a deal, he said, 'I'm not confident, but I think so. President Xi and I have a great relationship, and I think it's good for them. I think the deal is good for China and it's good for us.' - REUTERSPIX

Trump says ‘possibility' he will go to Turkey talks if Putin does

ABOARD AIR FORCE ONE: US President Donald Trump on Wednesday said there was a possibility he would head to Turkey for talks on Ukraine if his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin also travelled there. 'I don't know that he (Putin) would be there if I'm not there,' Trump told reporters on Air Force One as he flew from Saudi Arabia to Qatar. 'I know he would like me to be there, and that's a possibility. If we could end the war, I'd be thinking about that,' he said. Trump however noted that he was already scheduled to be in the United Arab Emirates on Thursday on the third and final leg of his Gulf tour. Trump says he has had good discussions on Russia and Ukraine But, when asked about visiting Turkey, he added: 'That doesn't mean I wouldn't do it to save a lot of lives.' Secretary of State Marco Rubio is already set to travel to Istanbul on Friday. 'Marco is going and Marco has been very effective,' Trump said. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has urged Putin to show up in Turkey this week for a face-to-face meeting, warning that a no-show would indicate Moscow's unwillingness to seek peace. Putin himself has called for negotiations, but Russia has declined to confirm whether he would participate. Trump vowed to end the Ukraine war immediately on taking office and had put heavy pressure on Zelensky, but has more recently voiced frustration after Russia snubbed an offer for an initial 30-day ceasefire.
