Delhi schools to launch AI curriculum by IIT Madras for Classes 6-10 from May 8
Artificial Intelligence is going to become a part of classroom learning for students in Delhi. Starting May 8, an AI literacy-based curriculum called AI Samarth will be rolled out across Classes 6 to 10. The initiative is being spearheaded by the Central Square Foundation (CSF), in collaboration with the Wadhwani School of Data Science and AI at IIT new framework is aimed at helping students between the ages of 11 and 14 gain a basic understanding of Artificial Intelligence -- not just how it works, but also how to use it safely, ethically, and meaningfully in real ON AI AWARENESS AND PRACTICAL USEThe AI Samarth framework focuses on building AI awareness through age-appropriate modules and encourages safe digital behaviour. These lessons will help students understand both the potential and the risks that come with using AI FOR STUDENTS AND TEACHERS ALIKEThe programme doesn't stop at students. It's also designed to empower teachers by offering an open-source content stack and training modules that are accessible resources will be available in five languages -- Hindi, Marathi, Bengali, Odia, and English -- to ensure wider access across various linguistic multilingual content stack will be released gradually over the next six months. AI Literacy Curriculum Framework to be launched for students from Grades 6 to 10 in Delhi
An Artificial Intelligence (AI) Literacy-based curriculum will be launched on 8 May for students of Classes 6 to 10 in Delhi. The curriculum framework, AI Samarth, will be launched by the Central Square Foundation (CSF). It has been developed in partnership with the Wadhwani School of Data Science and AI at IIT-Madras. It has been designed for creating an environment which enables safe and ethical use, as well as knowledge and awareness of AI, focused on children between age groups of 11-14 years. The initiative is geared towards developing a comprehensive AI literacy curriculum framework for both students and teachers, and building an open-source content stack which can be accessed by them in four languages — Hindi, Marathi, Bengali, Odia and English. The framework will also facilitate the dissemination of the content stack via online channels and training modules for knowledge regarding AI and its practical application. According to a press release by CSF, the framework has been structured for understanding AI and its role in daily life, to introduce its core concepts, and its practical applications to equip users with AI tools. It also includes the societal impact of AI, highlighting its potential benefits and the ethics, bias, privacy, and accountability to keep in mind during its use. The multilingual content stack part of the curriculum will be released over the next six months, with an aim to introduce additional regional languages later.
