5 Eagles overreactions: Does this DB deserve All Pro nickname? Has Tyler Steen won job?
PHILADELPHIA − The Eagles are through the so-called ramp-up portion of training camp, and we have already discovered a new nickname for second-year defensive back Cooper DeJean: "APC." Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown said he gave DeJean that nickname during the spring. It stands for "All Pro Coop." "It's gonna be a year for him," Brown said. "I'm not trying to put pressure on him. But I tell him all the time, I'll make you All-Pro, and that starts in camp, every day. It's part of my responsibility, part of our responsibility as wide receivers, to get those guys ready and vice versa." Brown was also referring to Quinyon Mitchell in that All-Pro comment, but without the nickname. Mitchell was a starter Week 1 as a rookie in 2024, and DeJean became the nickel during Week 6. So calling DeJean an All-Pro as he enters his second season is not overreaction from what we've seen so far. The question is, at what position will DeJean be named an All-Pro? There's nickel, where DeJean is expected to play the majority of the snaps this season. There's outside cornerback, where he could play when the Eagles are in base defense. Or there's safety, again in base defense. IN THE HUNT: Eagles training camp observations: The young DE compared to Micah Parsons, 'sliced bread' SAQUON'S 'HELL': Why Saquon Barkley was 'in hell'? And how it fits in Eagles' training camp mentality So far, DeJean has handled all three spots with aplomb. He admitted he started learning all three positions last season as a rookie even though he was used exclusively at nickel. As for the differences, DeJean said safety requires him to be more vocal. "I thought he was crazy," DeJean said with a laugh when asked about Brown's nickname for him. "But when he explained it to me, he's trying to speak it into existence for me. And that gives me something to work towards and try to prove every single day out here." So DeJean and/or Mitchell as an All-Pro this season doesn't qualify as an overreaction. But here are four other overreactions that do. Tyler Steen already has right guard job won It's not entirely true that you could put just about anyone at right guard in between right tackle Lane Johnson and center Cam Jurgens. This year, Tyler Steen is the frontrunner. So far, it's not much of a contest as Steen has taken all of the first-team reps during the spring practices and the first two days of training camp. Kenyon Green, the former first-round pick of the Texans, has missed the first two days with a knee injury. He is considered day-to-day, but really, as the popular saying goes, "You can't make the club from the tub." So Green would need to return soon. And while both left tackle Jordan Mailata and Johnson have raved about Steen's strength and growth this offseason, he still has to prove it on the field. If Green doesn't provide competition, then veteran Matt Pryor or rookie Drew Kendall might. But this battle is not close to being over just yet. Are Kelee Ringo, Sydney Brown locks for starting jobs? Through two days of practice, we have seen Kelee Ringo with the first unit opposite Mitchell one day and veteran Adoree Jackson the next. It's the same thing at safety. Sydney Brown was next to Reed Blankenship on Day 1 while rookie Drew Mukuba was there on Day 2. It's expected that Tristin McCollum, and possibly even Andre Sam, will get some looks next to Blankenship. There's nothing to read into that other than the Eagles will spend most, if not all, of training camp mixing and matching players. As defensive coordinator Vic Fangio said during the spring, these competitions might not be determined until after the preseason games. Terrace Marshall will become the 3rd WR Marshall has looked good both in spring and through the early part of training camp, and seems to be making a strong push for a roster spot. Then again, Marshall was the Panthers' second-round pick in 2021, so he's supposed to be good. The same is true of Dotson, of course, after he was the Commanders' first-round pick in 2022. But Dotson had just 19 catches for 216 yards last season. So that spot could be up for grabs. Johnny Wilson and Ainias Smith, both 2024 draftees, haven't shown enough consistency yet to be considered for that role. It should be noted that there aren't many targets available in an offense that features RB Saquon Barkley, wide receivers A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith and tight end Dallas Goedert. But Marshall has certainly gotten off to a strong start, as has Dotson. Marshall could end up pushing Dotson for that WR3 spot. Celebrate the Eagles' Super Bowl win with our new book Jordan Davis will have a monster year This might not be an overreaction either for Davis at defensive tackle. Davis admitted he lost 26 pounds during the offseason, and he looks svelte and agile for someone who's 6-foot-6, 330 pounds. The Eagles are counting on Davis to play a major role next to Jalen Carter. Davis showed his improved conditioning in the second half of last season and into the playoffs. That's in large part why the Eagles decided to pick up the fifth-year option on Davis' rookie contract, guaranteeing him about $13 million in 2026. After that, Davis can become a free agent. And his next contract could be in the range of former Eagles' DT Milton Williams' four-year deal worth as much as $104 million with the Patriots. "It's a continuation from the spring, a continuation from the wintertime, and understanding that role is bigger, and what's expected of me is greater and so on," Davis said. "Obviously, you have to change and adapt. I'm just glad I'm at this place now and I can hit the ground running." Contact Martin Frank at mfrank@ Follow on X @Mfranknfl. Philadelphia Eagles officially win lopsided A.J. Brown trade with Tennessee Titans
The Philadelphia Eagles have become known around the NFL for being elite at evaluating talent whether it be through the NFL Draft or acquiring superstars via free agency or trades. In fact, general manager Howie Roseman has built a squad that has become the envy of the rest of the league, especially when it comes to selecting top players that fall to Philadelphia in the draft. One of Roseman's most high-profile trades though came back in 2022 when the Tennessee Titans traded away A.J. Brown to the Birds in exchange for a handful of draft picks that included the first-round pick that eventually became wide receiver Treylon Burks. While Brown is still an elite receiver that has elevated the Eagles offense with Jalen Hurts slinging him the ball, Burks was recently released by the Titans after only managing to record one touchdown in his career. Philadelphia has a tendency of rescuing elite players from other teams though, especially on the offensive side of the football. Last season, Roseman and Co. brought in Saquon Barkley from the New York Giants as a free agent and he went on to surpass 2,000 yards in his debut campaign at Lincoln Financial Field. Titans release WR Treylon Burks days after he suffered a broken collarbone in training camp
Treylon Burks' time with the Tennessee Titans is now over. The Titans waived the wide receiver on Monday afternoon, days after he suffered a broken collarbone at practice. It marked just the latest significant injury Burks has dealt with since landing in Tennessee. [Join or create a Yahoo Fantasy Football league for the 2025 NFL season] Burks, who was set to enter his fourth season in the league, ended up appearing in just 27 games over three seasons with the franchise that first selected him with the No. 18 overall pick out of Arkansas. He missed five games in each of his first two seasons, and then went down with an ACL injury early during the 2024 campaign. After recovering from that knee injury, Burks then went down with his collarbone injury after making a diving catch along the sideline at training camp on Saturday. In total, Burks racked up just 699 yards and one touchdown on 53 catches over his three seasons with the Titans. The Titans declined his fifth-year option in May, so he was entering the last year of his rookie contract this fall. Burks was brought into Tennessee as the presumptive replacement for AJ Brown, who erupted after joining the Philadelphia Eagles following his start with the Titans. The Titans even used the draft pick they received in the Brown trade with the Eagles on Burks. He, though, just hasn't panned out. The clear No. 1 target for quarterback Cam Ward, who the Titans selected with the top pick in the NFL Draft earlier this year, is now gone after just three seasons. The Titans have made decent efforts to bolster their wide receivers room this offseason after last year's struggles. They brought in Tyler Lockett and Van Jefferson in free agency, so there is a decent veteran presence in Nashville, and they selected Florida's Chimere Dike and Stanford's Elic Ayomanor in the draft. They also signed former Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver and Tennessee standout Ramel Keyton on Monday, too. A definitive timeline for Burks' recovery isn't known, though he was expected to miss the start of the regular season recovering. Someone else is sure to give Burks a chance in the league once he's back to full strength, too. Where he ends up after the rough and injury-filled start he's had to his professional career, though, is anybody's guess.

Titans waive 2022 1st-round pick wr treylon burks, who injured his right shoulder in practice
NASHVILLE, Tenn. The Tennessee Titans waived injured receiver Treylon Burks on Monday, two days after the former first-round draft pick injured his right shoulder while making a diving catch in practice. Burks was the Titans' first-round draft pick at No. 18 overall in 2022, a selection acquired by trading Pro Bowl wide receiver A.J. Brown to Philadelphia. Burks was hurt more often than not in his first three seasons out of Arkansas. He's considered the third consecutive first-round bust for the Titans, joining offensive tackle Isaiah Wilson (2020) and cornerback Caleb Farley (2021). Burks spent the offseason recovering from a partially torn knee ligament. He had his best season in 2022, catching 33 passes for 444 yards and a score. If he clears waivers, he will revert to the teams' injured reserve. The Titans filled Burks' roster spot by signing Ramel Keyton, who signed with the Las Vegas Raiders as an undrafted free agent in 2024. Keyton spent time on the Raiders' practice squad and active roster last season. He played in eight games, mostly on special teams.

Titans waive WR selected with the 1st round pick acquired from Eagles in A.J. Brown trade
Mike Vrabel is now with the New England Patriots, and the Titans' 2022 draft night trade of A.J. Brown to the Philadelphia Eagles played a significant role in the massive rebuild Tennessee has undergone since that time. In a move that was finally expected to elevate Jalen Hurts to another tier, the Eagles acquired Brown from the Titans for the No. 18 overall pick in the draft and another third-round pick. Tennessee used that No. 18 pick on then-Arkansas wide receiver Treylon Burks, who, after a slow start to his rookie season, had shown improvement and had 24 catches for 334 before a blowout win by Philadelphia over the Titans in November of 2022. Fast forward to 2025, and Brown has developed into a perennial All-Pro and arguably the best wide receiver in the NFL. Burks has been inconsistent and, after recently suffering a broken collarbone, was waived/injured by the Titans on Monday, the team announced. In three seasons, Burks has played just 27 games (17 starts) and recorded 53 receptions for 699 yards and one touchdown. In his three seasons with the Eagles, Brown has played in and started 47 of a possible 51 games, recording 261 catches for 4,031 yards and 25 touchdowns, with an average of 15.6 yards per catch. Brown has earned three All-Pros during his tenure with the Eagles. This article originally appeared on Eagles Wire: Titans waive WR Treylon Burks
