Syria arrests doctor who turned hospital into 'human slaughterhouse'
Published May 7th, 2025 - 07:04 GMT ALBAWABA - The Ministry of Interior in Syria recently announced the arrest of Bassam Youssef Ali, a doctor who worked at Tishreen Military Hospital during the overthrown Assad regime. The individual was accused of turning the hospital into a "human slaughterhouse." According to a statement by the ministry, Ali was accused of participating in the torture and murder of detainees. Syrian authorities are still investigating additional crimes Ali may have been involved in during his time at Tishreen Military Hospital, under the regime of the ousted Syrian President Bashar Assad, who was recently overthrown by opposition forces, led by Ahmed al-Sharaa. A clip was shared online showing Ahmed al-Sharaa in formal clothes while showing off his skills at a basketball game. The Syrian president was seen playing basketball along with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Asaad al-Shaibani. The video posted on social media gained much attention and achieved millions of views in a very short time. However, some believed that the footage could not be true. A person questioned the video on X (formerly Twitter): "Is this an AI or true?" However, another said that Asaad al-Shaibani posted the footage on his Instagram account. Jordan floods kill Belgian woman, son in Shobak

Ma'an Governor Hassan al-Jabour said that authorities received calls that 18 tourists in Wadi al-Nakhil in the Shobak area were targeted by floods that hit southern Jordan. He told Al-Mamlaka that the tourists were on an adventure trip to Wadi Al-Nakhil without a local guide, which caused confusion during the search for them. US carries out 8 airstrikes against Houthis

The attacks come a day after the Houthi militants targeted Israel's Ben Gurion Airport with a ballistic missile, leading to the injury of several people after the Israeli army failed to destroy it. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed on Sunday to respond to the Houthi group at "a time and place of our choosing" over the Houthi attack near Israel's Ben Gurion Airport the same day.
