When Kalki Koechlin Was Harassed By A Big Indian Producer At Cannes: "Was A Student In London At That Time"

New Delhi: Kalki Koechlin, in a recent interview with Zoom, shared her two harrowing experiences of facing harassment. The first experience was at Cannes, where she was working as a promo girl for a mobile brand. Second time, a producer in Mumbai directly approached her with an indecent proposal. What's Happening "I have been into incidents where I have been in uncomfortable situations. One such incident wasn't in this industry. It was at Cannes. I was not even an actor, I was a student in London at that time and I had gone to Cannes as a promo girl for Nokia phones. There was an Indian producer, I'm not going to say the name. He knew somebody who knew my mother and they put me in touch with him saying, 'Meet him, he is a big guy,'" Kalki told Zoom. "So, I met him and went to see his screening at Cannes. He then asked me out for dinner in London, and when I asked him about any leads in work at that point, he made it very clear that I have to be with him in order for that to happen. I, obviously, said no, thank you, and that was the end of that," Kalki recalled. "The other time it happened was when I went for an audition here in Mumbai for a film and the producer said, 'Oh you want to do this film, but I need to get to know you because it's a big launch.' He was basically saying the same thing, but I said, 'I'm sorry. I don't want to waste your time or mine,'" said Kalki. Kalki admitted that she felt rage on the spur of the moment but as a woman she was also worried about her safety. "I have a raging fury inside me. I want to punch that person in the face but like any other woman, I tell myself to keep it in and just get out of the situation, cause it is also out of safety and other reasons. It's kind of disgust, kind of experience," Kalki said. In A Nutshell Kalki Koechlin opened up about her experiences of facing harassment on two different occasions - at Cannes and in Mumbai - with vivid details.

Ali Fazal On Deepika Padukone's 8-Hour Shift Demand: "This Is Not Like A Corporate Job"

New Delhi: Conversations around Deepika Padukone's 8-hour shift demand have been rampant in the entertainment industry ever since her exit from Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Spirit. While some support her claim, some beg to differ. Ali Fazal recently shared his views on the ongoing controversy. What's Happening While actors like Kajol, Ajay Devgn, and filmmaker Mani Ratnam have extended their support to Deepika Padukone's demand for an 8-hour shift as a new mother, there have been some who have been diplomatic about it. Filmmakers such as Suneel Darshan and Mohit Suri have mentioned how it is based on one's perspective and it is unfair to blame the directors. Ali Fazal has now reacted to the same, though he stated that he does not know much about the ongoing debate. He told SCREEN, "I am pro everybody being satisfied. At the end of the day, we are creators. This is not like a corporate job. No offence to them, but it is not. Creating things takes a lot of compassion. It needs to be mutually decided between actors, creators and technicians, 'What is the displacement of the hours in that particular project?'" Emphasising on how every project demands a different process, Ali Fazal added, "Sometimes, some projects don't require much because it is VFX-heavy. Some projects require more because they involve action and drama. The genre changes the working style. That's the kind of industry we are in. You can't put a template. This is all subjective. This is not for others to discuss and throw their opinions. It is harsh to ask people to take sides. It is not fair." Latest Reaction To Deepika Padukone's 8-Hour Shift Demand One of the latest views on the mentioned topic came from filmmaker Mohit Suri, who is gearing up for the release of Saiyaara, hitting the screens on July 18, 2025. He told NDTV, "Well, to each their own. I think it depends on the kind of budget you're working with. I don't think any director wants to make anyone work beyond what's required. No one's sadistic enough to unnecessarily torture someone. Sometimes, you're restricted by things like budgets, and that impacts everything, including how many hours a day you shoot." "You have a choice to be a part of something or not. But what I think is unfair is when someone comes in and starts dictating terms after signing on. You knew what the project entailed - the constraints, the realities," concluded Mohit Suri. In A Nutshell Amid the ongoing controversy of Deepika Padukone being replaced by Triptii Dimri in Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Spirit, Ali Fazal has shared his views on the fixed work hour debate. The actor mentioned how it "is not a corporate job", on the fixed 8-hour shift demand.

Richa Chadha Hits Back At Trolls Over "Natural Birth" In A Now-Deleted Comment: "My Vagina, My Baby"

New Delhi: Richa Chadha shared a collage of special moments to celebrate her daughter Zuneyra's first birthday on Wednesday (July 16). The reel encapsulates her journey from being pregnant to embracing motherhood. But the comments section of the post became a battleground as trolls attacked Richa over her "natural" birth remark. The Masaan actress hit back at them, emphasizing her freedom to choose words. What's Happening Richa Chadha wrote in the caption, "For bringing so much colour into all our lives! A year ago I gave birth to a healthy baby girl at Breach Candy Hospital. Labour lasted a few hours, delivery only about 20 minutes, natural birth! Life hasn't been the same since, particularly me... I feel rearranged from the insides out... my brain, my heart, my body, my soul. Zuneyra was born a year ago and so was I. Reborn as a mom. An entirely new being, than what existed before. "A life and child with the man of your dreams... if this isn't a blessing I don't know what is." While a major section of the Internet loved her post, a few took offence at the term "natural birth." View this post on Instagram A post shared by Richa Chadha (@therichachadha) A social media user wrote, "Every birth is natural, thanks to Science nowadays they're being assisted to help the Mom and the kid." To this, Richa replied, "If I said normal delivery, you'd have said the same thing." When the user insisted on writing "vaginal delivery" instead of "natural delivery", Richa hit back, "But what if I don't wanna say vaginally delivery, it is my page and also my vagina and my baby. And feminism taught me to use words of my choosing. So." Later, Richa deleted the entire comment thread on her post. Earlier, Suniel Shetty faced flak from a certain section of the Internet for commenting on Athiya choosing natural delivery over C-section. Suniel Shetty had told News 18, "In a world where everybody wants the comfort of having a caesarean baby, she chose not to do that and had a natural delivery. I remember how every nurse and paediatrician in the hospital said that it's unbelievable how she went through the whole process." The 63-year-old, however, apologised to women who were hurt by his remarks. He said, "So, to all individuals who were offended-even if I did not make the mistake-I will sincerely apologise to all the ladies out there because I honestly appreciate and revere them. And not because someone took two phrases from my quote and exaggerated it." In A Nutshell Richa Chadha clapped back at trolls for commenting on "natural" delivery. She said she would choose the words she wanted to speak. The actress welcomed a daughter with Ali Fazal on July 16, 2024.

What he has done for us is a blessing," Vishnu Vishal recalled. "Eventually, after two to three IVF cycles, Jwala got pregnant, and that very time when we found out, I told Aamir sir that he is going to name the baby. If it wasn't for him, we wouldn't have gotten Mira. That is also why Jwala was crying while she was speaking during the ceremony," Vishnu revealed why Aamir was called on for naming their daughter. When Amitabh Bachchan Said Amid Tensions With Jaya And Rekha, "Don't Believe In Divorce"

Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan and Rekha - the off-screen dynamics of the trio keep find its way to the headlines, even in 2025. Yash Chopra cast the terrific trio in his classic Silsila (1981). The film is rumoured to mirror the tensions of Big B's real life featuring his wife Jaya Bachchan and co-star Rekha. Addressing the tensions, Amitabh Bachchan once said that he doesn't "believe" in divorce. What's Happening Famous Biographer Yasser Usman in his book Rekha: The Untold Story once documented what Jaya Bachchan told addressing the rumoured affair between Big B and Rekha. "Let the whole world say what they want. He [Amitabh Bachchan] has made a commitment to me and he has to have the courage (to say he's in love with somebody else!), and if he is doing something behind my back, it's his problem. Not my problem. He has to live with it. And with his conscience," an excerpt from the book read. In the same book, Yaseer Usman talked about how Rekha kept the media abuzz with an anecdote of her encountering Jaya Bachchan at their house. "This is the closest that Amitabh ever came to even admitting that all was not well in the Bachchan household. But Rekha kept fuelling the media fire. In an interview with Stardust, she made a strange claim: that Jaya had invited her over to the Bachchan home one day. 'Jaya did not mind the relationship as long as she thought her husband was only having a fling. It's when she realised that he was really emotionally involved, that is when it began hurting her. She called me for dinner one evening and though we spoke about everything but him, before I left that day, she made sure to tell me, 'I will never leave Amit whatever happens'." While Rekha and Jaya Bachchan handled the media in their own way, Amitabh Bachchan said that divorce was not the option they were looking for. "A divorce will never happen in our case. I don't believe in divorce because my basic instincts are Indian. I made an absolutely first-class choice when I took Jaya as my wife'," according to Yaseer Usman's book. In A Nutshell Amitabh Bachchan once addressed the tensions between his wife Jaya Bachchan and Rekha, and categorically said he doesn't believe in divorce.
