VIJAYAWADA: HRD and IT Minister Nara Lokesh announced the launch of Naipunyam, a new job and skill development portal, during the 'Empowering India's Green Future: Andhra Pradesh as a Talent Hub for Solar and Wind Energy', in Vijayawada on Wednesday. The portal, set to go live on September 1, aims to bridge the gap between skilled youth and employers, especially in sectors like green energy, electronics manufacturing, and compressed bio-gas (CBG) production. Lokesh affirmed that Andhra Pradesh is aligning its workforce with global market demands. 'The Naipunyam portal will connect our talent pool with the private sector, offering direct access to training and job opportunities,' he said. He emphasised that this initiative is part of the coalition government's goal to create 20 lakh jobs over the next five years. 'This is not just a number; it's a mission. We are building the infrastructure, forging partnerships, and shaping policies to create quality employment, both locally and globally,' he said. The portal will be implemented in collaboration with the Andhra Pradesh Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC) and C-DAC. It will provide customised training in solar and wind energy, electronics manufacturing, and green technologies. In addition to job listings, it will offer tailored upskilling programmes to prepare candidates for high-demand sectors. Outlining a cluster-based development strategy, Lokesh said industrial zones are being planned every 100 kilometres across the State. He noted that Anantapur will focus on automobiles, Kurnool on renewable energy, Kadapa and Chittoor on electronics, Nellore on specialised manufacturing, Prakasam as a CBG hub, Guntur and Krishna as Quantum Valley, and Uttarandhra on pharma, IT, and medical devices.

AP aims for 160 GW green energy target

VIJAYAWADA: Andhra Pradesh has set an ambitious target to generate 160 gigawatts (GW) of renewable energy through its new Green Energy Policy, announced Minister for Energy Gottipati Ravi Kumar. Speaking at the Green Energy Conference in Vijayawada, he stated that all proposed projects are slated for completion by 2029. The conference, organised by the AP State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC) and the Swaniti Initiative, also featured IT Minister Nara Lokesh. Minister Ravi Kumar highlighted the government's strong commitment to clean energy, noting that investor confidence, which had been shaken during the previous administration, has been restored by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. He said the government has already signed several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) and is now focused on translating these agreements into operational projects. The Rayalaseema region was specifically identified as a prime location for these ventures. To support this massive undertaking, the government is prioritising skill development. The APSSDC will provide targeted training to unemployed youth to create a skilled workforce for the sector. 'Our government has a clear goal of creating 20 lakh (2 million) job opportunities,' the minister affirmed. He also announced that Reliance Industries is a key partner in this initiative, with plans to establish 500 Compressed Biogas (CBG) plants across the State. A foundation stone for a major CBG plant was recently laid in Prakasam district by Minister Lokesh. These plants are expected to generate over 2.5 lakh jobs, provide better lease income for farmers, and reduce rural migration.

Naipunyam to help boost youth employment

Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh government isset to launch 'Naipunyam', a new skill development portal, on September 1. Announcing this at the Green Energy Conference here on Wednesday, Education and IT Minister Nara Lokesh emphasised that the portal would be a key tool for connecting the state's youth with relevant job opportunities, particularly in emerging sectors like green energy. The portal will be operated in collaboration with the AP Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC) and the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC). Its primary goal is to provide industry-specific training and serve as a bridge between skilled talent and the private sector, both domestically and internationally. Lokesh outlined the government's plan to develop industrial clusters across the state to decentralise economic growth and attract investments. Each cluster will focus on a specific sector like Anantapur (automobile manufacturing); Kurnool (renewable energy); Kadapa and Chittoor (electronics manufacturing; Nellore (specialised manufacturing, including air conditioning); Prakasam (compressed bio-gas (CBG): Guntur and Krishna ('Quantum Valley' hubs); and north Andhra (pharma, IT, data centers, and medical device manufacturing). Lokesh highlighted the positive impact of such initiatives on rural communities, citing the example of a woman in Anantapur who became financially independent after securing a job at a Kia Motors ancillary unit. "We want to replicate that impact across the state, especially for women and rural youth," he said. He also mentioned that Suzlon had already established two skill training centers in the state.
